Fallen IDF soldier's message: 'Soon you won't be here anymore, so take the plunge!'

In a letter to himself, David Yehuda Yitzhak, who fell in Jenin, writes several messages of inspiration. 'Be good, simply good.’

“Hiking is great, even if you're by yourself, you have a lot of time to think," stated a note written by Egoz unit soldier David Yehuda Yitzhak, who fell during the Israeli counterterror operation in Jenin on Tuesday.

The note, which Yitzhak wrote in Hebrew, seemingly to himself, contains several messages of inspiration. The note was shared on social media by a friend of Yitzhak's, Netanel Alinson.

The note states: "Be good, simply good. The more you think before everything you do, you will do more good and fewer things that you don't want to do."

Later the note states: "Be good, simply good. Without making noise, without getting confused, just to be good." As well as the haunting passage: "Remember that soon you won't be here anymore, so take the plunge!"

"Don't forget the goal, be a quality person! A quality person!! Don't look to put on a facade and for nonsense and pleasures. Be good at everything. Don't be a 'doormat', have a backbone, and don't be ashamed to do what's needed to reach the goal, to be good, to do good. Again, without putting on a face, without noise, just do it," he wrote.

The fallen soldier also wrote that "the more you think, in general, to think about life, and also before everything you do, you will do more good and fewer things that you don't want to... of course when the time comes you also need the will, but thinking beforehand has an effect."

Sergeant First Class David Yehuda Yitzhak OBM, 23, from the town of Beit El, a non-commissioned officer, was severely injured in a confrontation with terrorists during a counterterrorism operation in the Jenin Refugee Camp and died on the way to the hospital. He will be brought to rest on Wednesday at 4:00 PM at the Mt. Herzl military cemetery in Jerusalem.
