Swiss Guard Slaps Minor Jewish Child in Hevron

Following release of footage showing member of European TIPH Hevron monitor group slapping Jewish child, Swiss ambassador issues apology. arutzsheva

On Wednesday, members of the Temporary International Presence in Hebron – a group of European civilian observers who have operated in Hevron since 1994 – took part in a tour of the city organized by the radical left-wing Breaking the Silence organization.

During the tour, TIPH observers entered the Jewish neighborhood of Tel Rumeida – in violation of their mandate – sparking a confrontation with local residents.

At one point, a member of the TIPH force – a Swiss national – slapped a 10-year-old boy from the Jewish community in Hevron.

UPDATE: Update: The 10-year-old boy is the brother of Shalhevet Pass. Shalhevet Pas was the infant girl who was murdered by an Arab sniper in Hebron, in 2001. SEE VIDEO HERE

Swiss Ambassador to Israel, Jean-Daniel Ruch: "Though this was no doubt preceded by some provocation on the side of the settlers – the action of this TIPH member is totally unacceptable. It is expected from our TIPH members that they keep their nerves in any circumstance.”

What could a minor have possibly said to enrage and deserve a slap from a "trespassing foreigner”? That ambassador should apologize personally to that 10 year old child!  AND . . . they were citizens of Israel and not “settlers”.
Why was “Breaking the Silence” allowed into Hevron, with Swiss guards?

Israeli Border Guard Saves Life of Chevron Arab Infant

Border Guards stationed in Chevron overnight Sunday saved the life of an Arab infant. The incident occurred near the station in the area of Me’aras Hamachpelah. Screams could be heard from one of the homes. The Israeli Guards followed the cries and arrived at the house where they discovered a 9 month old boy was was not breathing. One of the guards administered mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. The unit’s medic arrived a few minutes latter with a defibrillator. Lifesaving efforts continued for long minutes until the infant began breathing; he was taken to a nearby clinic for treatment.

Why does this matter? Dafka because it shows the difference between the Swiss Guard and the trained Israeli Guard.

“despite the complicated nature of the incident … the difficult area … they act primarily to preserve safety, security and the lives of ALL resident, regardless of religion, race or gender. . . These are the values with which Israeli forces are trained."

Thank you for this, Neshama.

As much as I, too, am proud of our guards as opposed to the Swiss guards or any other goyish guards (and many people engage in this sort of comparison), I am afraid that this kind of one-upmanship is hurting more than helping us and our case. It assures people around the world that we will continue the same self-abnegating, non-discriminatory behavior that prevents us from doing what we should be doing: kicking the so-called "people of the land" out.

The Swiss guards would not have come here to protect the Breaking the Silence group if the Arabs had not remained here in the first place. There would be no reason for BtS either....we could go on for quite a while tracing the effect of enhancing our deterrence, rather than degrading it, as you and I both know. ;)

Yes, CDG, everything you write here in your comment is correct. I think that as long as Israel acts as a puppet and allows foreign ngo's or gov people from different lands to come and observe (as if they were visiting a prison and observing the behavior of the prisoners and their guards), H' allows these foreigners who should not even be allowed into the country to do as they wish. Everything, literally, everything that the State of Israel does to make nice to the nations goes against the Commandments of our Torah. Until that will cease, these problems will continuously arise, r'l. Which other self-respecting nation would allow this degradation upon their country and its people?
