Neshama,

Lovely pictures!

You can't eat any of them - and neither can I, for other reasons. You might want to try making my recipe, which I posted here: Gluten-Free, Low-Carb Sufganiyot - and Life-Saving Tools for Hanukkah

You can put cocoa on them, or cut them in half & spread your favorite jam, or whatever to jazz 'em up.

I know it's easier to buy than to make them, but it might be worth it for R"H Tevet.

Hodesh Tov, Hanukkah Sameah & Shavua Tov!

How nice of you CDG for suggesting a gf recipe for donuts. I think I’ll try to make a chocolate coconut flour baked donut. I bought a donut pan also. Maybe even a chocolate drippy icing for them. Mmm! Last night I made potato scallion latkes lekavod Chanukah - just a few because we don’t eat white potatoes anymore. They were SCRUMPTIOUS. I love cooking and baking, but we’re watching those carbs, you know. Did you know that there is a minimum daily quota for fats and protein, but non for carbs? That’s because they are NOT good and cause too much sugar in the blood. Give me a huge plate of broccoli and I’m delighted. Love the stuff.

The chocolate sounds great, Neshama! All the best with it! I'm not so afraid of oils and butter because I'm learning more about them - although I'm restricting seed oils for the most part.

We are definitely watching the carbs. We know all too well the consequences of that. Potatoes are out for me, even the batatot (yams/sweet potatoes). I haven't yet tried the latke recipe I came up with instead, so I haven't posted it. If I don't have time this year, there's always next, be"H!

As a final tete-a-tete, I highly recommend coconut flour and coconut oil (extremely healthy for myriad reasons and especially the brain). The only other oil that is healthy and beneficial is x-virgin olive oil (with stamp from oil mfg). Look into Paleo foods, which are lc, but contrary to their hi-protein, keep the veggies at 2/3 and protein at 1/3 per meal. Veggies should be lc and low glycemic. Grains are NOT healthy. Being gluten free is extremely beneficial for the brain. There is a whole body of scientific info relating to the above.
