Rabbi Weissman – "Innocent" Civilians and a Dark Day in Persia

 This week's Torah class was filled with powerful Midrashim on Shir HaShirim.  We learned about:

• “Innocent” Egyptian school children
• Cynical accusations of “war crimes” from the Moabites
• More about how we achieve protection and win wars (or, God forbid, the reverse)
• More proof that we return to Eretz Yisrael en masse BEFORE Moshiach comes...and more about those who stay behind
• Believing the plain reality staring you in the face
• The expectation that every Jew with his head on straight would embrace the opportunity to return to Eretz Yisrael, and recognize redemption in progress, even when the miracles don't happen quite the way we would prefer

None of what we learned is some novel “interpretation”.  It's straight Torah, and we need to contend with it.  As I've said many times and will continue to say, the Torah is not there for us to impose our will on it, but to shape our views.

Bonus question at the end: Why do some people move to Israel and then move back after a few years?   Many people will not like my answer.  Tough.
