VaYidaber Hashem (and G-d told)
“Vayomer”(he spoke)
“Vayidaber” (he told)
Moshe wants "to know" the Glory of Hashem:
We are now approaching Parsha Emor, with more instructions to the Kohanim, the Holy of Hashem. How should we understand the “coincidences” being spelled out to us, His children “In correlation with ‘our’ Pandemic?”
Below is a synopsis of each week’s Parsha and Haftarah. (I began with the week of Purim; however, the first case in Israel was on February 21, the week of Parshas Mishpatim, “We will do and we will hear all that G-D commands us”)
Could not one relate to this in hindsight? But, wait, there is more. Parshas Emor and the following two Parshiot (below) have something important to tell us.
Ki Tissa = Week of Purim = the people dancing about their idol
Haftarah = "How long will you hop between two ideas? (Between G-d and the Ba’al)
Vayakel – Pekudei = Building the Mishkan
Haftarah = The Divine Presence comes down (pandemic)
Vayikra = Humility and Korbonos = Ashram, guilt offering
Haftarah = Love every Jew
Tzav = You are Commanded, time and place (quarantine)
Haftarah = ikkar to observe the commandments and I am G‑d Who practices kindness, justice and righteousness on the earth
Pesach = Remove the chometz from within
Chol HaMoed Pesach = Koheles (hefker) Resurrection and “The Dry Bones”
Shemini = Kashrus = differentiate between the impure and the pure
Haftarah = Am Yisrael is “carried by the Ark” (the Tablets of the Law)
Tazria – tzaraat = supra-natural plague
Haftarah = the cure of Tzaraat = listen to your prophets
Metzora - affliction of a spiritual malady (caused by sin) Lashon Harah
Haftarah = a sudden redemption
Achrei Mot – warning via the laws prohibiting incest and other deviant sexual relations
Kedoshim = “You shall be holy, for I, the L‑rd your G‑d, am holy.”
Observe the Mitzvot (no idolatry, morality, honesty)
Haftarah = Observe the Mitzvot, punishment is death
After experiencing all of the above we are given a prelude to the future IF WE DO NOT *STUMBLE:
Emor = Laws of Kohanim and the Festivals = “Stringencies and restrictions” meant to elevate worship and deveikus to Hashem
Haftarah = the Third Holy Temple IY”H
Rabbi Winston, in Parshas Emor, says … “From the moment man was placed into the Garden of Eden, life has been about da’as—knowledge. Shlomo HaMelech: “If you want it like money and pursue it like treasures, then you will understand fear of G–D, and Da’as Elokim you will find.” (Mishlei 2:4-5)
Behar = About the laws governing the SALE OF LANDS (to foreigners)
Haftarah = purchase and redemption of real estate (settlement) “"So says the L-rd of Hosts, the G‑d of Israel: 'Houses and fields and vineyards shall be purchased again in this land.'" Thus conveying a message of hope even on the eve of destruction and exile. Yes the Jews would be exiled, but they would also eventually be returned to their land”
Bechukotai = G‑d promises that if the people of Israel will keep His commandments, they will enjoy material prosperity and dwell secure in their homeland. But He also delivers a harsh “rebuke,” warning of the exile, persecution and other evils that will befall them if they abandon their covenant with Him
Haftarah = "Cursed is the man who trusts in man and relies on mortal flesh for his strength, and whose heart turns away from the G‑d.”
"G‑d who is the source of the hopes of Israel, all that forsake You shall be shamed, and they who turn away from me shall be marked out on the earth that they have forsaken G‑d
