Rabbi Yaakov Moshe Charlap on the Land of Eretz Yisrael

OUR LAND OF GAZA TO BECOME A CELEBRITY VENUE FOR ALL PEOPLES. WHAT A SHANDA. THIS IS NOT TO BE DONE TO OUR HOLY LAND.  READ ON....

There were many rabbis who opposed agreeing to hand over parts of the Land of Israel. Rabbi Yaakov Moshe Charlap was especially firm on this issue.

Rabbi Charlap firmly opposed any possibility of renouncing parts of the Land of Israel and handing them over to foreigners, and forbade any cooperation with such a plan. Under the title "Let Us Not Give Up Any of Our Rights in the Land of Israel," he wrote:

"אם יגיעו הדברים ויצטרכו חלילה לחתום על כתב חוזה בינלאומי שמשמעו ויתור איזה שהוא מכל זכותנו על ארץ ישראל, נוח יותר לחותמים לקצץ בהונות ידיהם ולא יקצצו בנטיעות גן רווה".

"If, Heaven forbid, there comes a time where they need to sign an international treaty renouncing any of our rights to the Land of Israel, it would be better for the signatories to sever their own thumbs than to take part in uprooting the saplings of a well-watered garden"

Rabbi Yaakov Moshe Charlap was an Orthodox rabbi, talmudist, kabbalist, Rosh Yeshiva of the Mercaz HaRav yeshiva, and a disciple of Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook. Rabbi Charlap served as rabbi of the Sha'arei Hesed neighborhood in central Jerusalem, and author of the Mei Marom series of books on Jewish thought. Wikipedia
