Shalom Pollack – hilltop heroes, food and wine

 Wednesday, September 25

As we travel through beautiful, biblical landscapes, we will learn about the continuing struggle for our land in these crucial times as we visit with our brave pioneers in two isolated outpost farms in the land of Benjamin. We will visit with two young families creating Jewish history and determining the borders of the Jewish homeland with their bodies and spirit.

On the Shiloh hilltop farm, we shall meet Tehilah and her family. In Mishkanot Harel" hilltop farm we will meet Techelet and the Cohen family. In both places, we shall have the merit of meeting a lone family doing the work of what normally be that of strong governments and armies.

Unbelievably, these very special, once-in-a-era families are sacrificing for us all despite government and armies. They are holding the line in securing and defending our land in the face of challenges that few others would contemplate accepting. We will learn about these extraordinary Jewish heroes and show our gratitude and support. In speaking with these modest but heroic young mothers, they told me that they were thrilled to host us on their isolated hill and receive a show of support.

We will dine together in the famous local, "Hummus Eliyahu" restaurant in the village of Eli, the site of heroic resistance to terrorist attacks. We will support these special Jews and enjoy their popular cuisine.

Wine tasting at "Yekev Hagvaot:" This celebrated boutique winery in the hills of Shiloh has resurrected the ancient wines of the area and won international recognition for excellence.
