Schools in two states experiencing a rise in Covid cases announced they were closing facilities and switching to remote learning.
Alabama and Tennessee announced the closure of two schools — affecting more than a thousand children — just days into the new academic year, with officials saying the virus had forced them to shut and carry out a 'deep clean.' At one of the schools, children had to abandon their desks and revert to remote learning for two days — a move reminiscent of the early days of Covid.
And these closures might be just the beginning:
And there are fears that more disruption could be in store for students in the coming months — with many schools, in states like New York, New Jersey and Michigan, returning after the Labor Day weekend.
It’s not just school closures that are coming back. Dr. Anthony Fauci is – again – advocating for masks and social distancing, telling the media that:
'You don't have to immobilize what you do and cut yourself off from society, but regardless of what the current recommendations are, when you're in a crowded closed space and you're an 85-year-old person with chronic lung disease or a 55-year-old person who is morbidly obese with diabetes and hypertension, then you should be wearing a mask.
'And you should be careful to avoid crowded places where you don't know the status of other people and you should get vaccinated and boosted on a regular basis.'
