The sister magazine to Mishpacha for Shabbos reading, *Hamodia, in their “Prime" publication, was the topic of
THE CHILDREN LEFT BEHIND:
The Moment of Truth
Hamodia Prime: "The summer is ending. School buses are revving up. But some parents still don’t know if their children will make the bus. Hamodia talked – and listened – to educators, parents, and community askanim to raise awareness of the problem, and look at some possible solutions."Articles included:
Out of Sync, Out of School by Rabbi Binyomin Zev Karman
Finding a Place for Every Jewish Child by Rabbi Binyomin Zev Karman
”You must teach to the student’s strengths," and not to his weaknesses,” declares *Rabbi Dr. Joel (Yosef Shimon) Rosenshein, a noted psychologist who works extensively in helping children who are not succeeding in School. If a student does not learn, its the responsibility of the teacher to find a way to help the student learn.. If we would follow this approach and realise that it is our responsibility to supply a Torah education to each and every Jewish child in this manner, then we would be able to find a place in the classroom for every Jewish child.”
Back to School, (articles) as told to Yosef Herz
- The School Administration View
- A View from a member of an Acceptance Committee
- What is our goal
- Making it in the System by Mrs Tizvia Friedman, mechaneches at Nefesh High School
This situation is never ending, and occurs every end of summer. Actually, this seems to be a problem with Girls Schools. The articles about young girls not being accepted to this or that school, or any school for that matter, is horrendous. We see these article about America and Israel, among the Orthodox and Hasidic schools and seminaries.

*at the time of writing I was unable to find anything online about Dr Rosenshein (that I could copy), so I typed the above paragraph from the magazine, since its public reading, I hope it is ok. I have since received permission, so therefore the link above on his name.
