DEATH THREATS MADE TO HARAV SHMUEL ELIYAHU
AND THE ISRAELI POLICE THREATEN ACTIVISTS NOT TO PROTEST “THE PARADE”
Is the State of Israel being blackmailed by this group of persons?
Israel Police in Tzfat opened an investigation after the city's Rabbinical Council member and Chief Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu received threats to his life.
The threats, as well as the telephone harassment, follow an interview Rabbi Eliyahu gave on Army Radio, in which he called on the public to stop "LGBT terror."
One of the complaints was opened on Wednesday, after a visitor to the Hakol Hayehudi news site responded to an article on Rabbi Eliyahu by writing that he would "eliminate" the Tzfat rabbi.
Rabbi Eliyahu's office sent this response to Israel Police, and a police investigator contacted Hakol Hayehudi for information about the threatening commenter.
Hakol Hayehudi also discovered that in the past few days, an anonymous caller phoned Rabbi Eliyahu's office and threatened to kill him, because of "the radio interview the rabbi gave." Other people Rabbi Eliyahu's cell phone number to various companies' customer service representatives, causing him to receive several disruptive and unnecessary phone calls.
On Wednesday, Israel Police detectives who arrived at the home of a Beit Shemesh-area resident warned him not to protest the Jerusalem Gay Pride Parade, since he had protested the parade in the past. The "Pride" Parade will take place on Thursday in Jerusalem.
Recently, Israel Police detectives surprised dozens of activists and gave them similar warning speeches. Some of the activists were taken for interrogation and made to sign a warning form. Many of these activists were not connected to the protest against the parade, and did not even know such a thing was planned.
