Reb Neuberger: Parshas Metzorah and a New Book

A SUN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS WILL SHINE

FOR YOU WHO FEAR MY NAME

It is 2:20 a.m. Motzae Shabbos, the 6th Day of Nissan 5784, April 14, 2024 in the Holy City of Yerushalayim. We hear loud explosions and then air-raid sirens. There are reports that Iran is attacking Israel.

Rabbi Moshe Sternbuch Shlita”h has advised: if you hear sirens, say “Ain Od Milvado … there is nothing but Hashem” and contemplate its meaning. Then say Tehillim.

My friends, it is not irresponsible to believe that we are close to the Geulah Shelemah. The accepted means of maintaining order, morality and sanity in the world have failed. Normalcy is being overwhelmed by chaos.

“In the beginning … when the earth was astonishingly empty, with darkness upon the surface of the deep, and the Divine Presence hovered upon the surface of the waters, Hashem said, ‘Let there be light….’”

Now, again, the earth is “astonishingly empty.” Darkness is upon us, but we need to know that the Divine Presence is hovering over us at this very moment. We know what happened in Mitzraim: even though we did not yet merit redemption, still our Father in Heaven saved us in the merit of His kindness and our future teshuva. Now it is the Season of Pesach and we beg our Father and King to save us once again.

The mask has fallen off the face of Western culture. The emperor has no clothes. It is time to acknowledge the extent of our slavery to their alien world. The very computer upon which I write these words is an instrument of enslavement to their world of sheker, a black hole which threatens at this very moment to swallow us alive.

It is time to run from this alien world as Lot ran from Sodom: “[Hashem] overturned these cities and the entire plain, with all the inhabitants … [But] his wife peered behind him and she became a pillar of salt.” (Beraishis 19:25-26)

Don’t peer back! Leave it behind! Don’t even look! It is gone!

“For behold, the day is coming burning like an oven, when all the wicked people and all the evildoers will be like straw and that coming day will burn them up, says Hashem Master of Legions … but a sun of righteousness will shine for you who fear My Name, with healing in its rays ….” (Malachi 3:19ff)

The world looks fearsome, but we can hold on to the words of our prophets and sages.

“The Holy One Blessed is He said …. I lit the fire in Tzion and I will [in the future] build it [again] with fire, as it says, ‘And I will be for it a wall of fire all around and for glory will I be in its midst.’” (Bava Kamma 60b)

We should try not to be frightened by phenomena that seem overwhelming. It may be the Hand of Hashem coming to save us. “Praise Hashem, all nations. Praise Him, all the states. For His kindness has overwhelmed us and the truth of Hashem is eternal.” (Tehillim 118)

As we enter the season of redemption, I am pleased to announce the release of my new book, “48 Ways to Shalom Bayis.” The book is based on the Mishnah in Avos which lists the 48 midos of a talmid chacham.

What do marriage and Torah scholarship have in common? Really everything, because the relationship between Am Yisroel and Torah is like a marriage. If we learn to become one with Hashem, we can learn how to become one with our spouse. The book is ideal reading during the days of Sefira, as it is comprised of an introduction plus forty-eight short chapters, which can be read one per day.

The book is available on Amazon. Here is the link: 48 Ways to Shalom Bayis: Neuberger, Roy S.: 9798321183397: Amazon.com: Books

It will also be available b’ezras Hashem, in Jewish bookstores in the New York Metropolitan area and through our website, www.2020vision.co.il.

My friends, this is extremely timely.

We have to fix our relationships now … at home, among ourselves as a nation, and between our Nation and the Master of the Universe! We need unity on every level!

“May your oppressor be downtrodden and may those who devoured you be cast far off! Your G-d will rejoice over you like a groom rejoicing over his bride!” (Lecha Dodi)

My friends, if we merit it, this – right now! -- may be the moment when the eternal covenant will be renewed between us and the Master of the Universe. At the very moment when the nations open their mouths to swallow us, our Eternal Guardian may come to save us and the eternally Good Day may dawn, the Day which is all Shabbos! On that day there will be peace and harmony in every Jewish home!

May we see soon, with our very eyes, the day on which our G-d will rescue us, the day on which the Holy Temple will be restored, when peace and justice will return to earth.
