JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Conservative thought-leaders Ben Shapiro and Douglas Murray appeared at a jampacked event in Binyanei Hauma Arena in Jerusalem on Tuesday, and appeared to blow away the ‘electrified’ crowd.
In one clip from the ‘Freedom of Zion Conference’, Murray discussed an email he received from the late Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, after he’d written a review for a book Murray once wrote. Rabbi Sacks “quoted Scripture which said ‘Whether they listen or fail to listen, they will know a prophet stood among them.’”Murray continued, “I was so moved by that, and the sad thing for me is that Europe has not listened…they haven’t listened, they just made it worse and worse…”
At one point Shapiro asked, “Is there anyone here who has served in the IDF in the last year?”
Several hands went up. “These are the people who put their lives on the line to defend the Jewish state,” Shapiro said.
The crowd erupted in thunderous applause in a reportedly seven minute standing ovation. Some soldiers could be seen wiping away tears.
According to media reports, Murray and Shapiro delivered powerful speeches about “the spirit and strategy of Israel’s fighting forces”.
At one point Shapiro asked, “Is there anyone here who has served in the IDF in the last year?”
