Rebbetzen Tziporah – Days 38 and 39

DAY 38, TIFERES OF YESOD

Being consistent in your path towards purity (in speech or in other aspects of who you are) is what is called tiferes, or harmony. This includes the world of action. An example given in the Talmud is of two shoemakers who were great Chachamim, but due to their profession they had to sit in the shuk. Even the loose women, praised them for their modesty and their consistency in never looking at them, but staying with their shoemaking.

The beginning of actions is thought (TG- the Gra said that the only way to stop yourself from speaking lashon hara is to think positively of others).

It is also important to be a credible example to others. For instance, speaking to male co‑workers (if you are a woman) or female co‑workers (if you are a man) in a way that is overly familiar, even if nothing wrong is taking place.

BETWEEN PEOPLE

Encourage your friends to learn more about being more aware of these matters by showing them books you may have that are worth reading. If you share what you know with others, you also are worthy of getting help from Hashem. This is even truer if you make your books available to the public.

LIMB- LEARN OUT LOUD, USING YOUR LIPS

DAY 39, NETZACH OF YESOD

In order to guard the covenant by being careful both in speech and in overcoming inappropriate sexual desire, when you find yourself fighting the familiar battle of me vs me (I want to do the right thing, but everyone really has the right to know (hmm, which mitzvah is the source of that right?) etc.) try to bring in a third party, Hashem, by getting yourself to ask what He really wants to come forth from this conversation.

Recognizing that the tests themselves are a gift, given to be able to be the kind of person that you really want to be. This is especially relevant in times that you are feeling really down. It’s a short trip from there to trying to make yourself feel better by doing something that you know you should be doing. We all have dark moments, and these are the ones that (counter intuitively) demand more than other times when you are feeling calm and together.

WITH PEOPLE

Try to encourage others, not just by sharing books….

LIMB- SPEAK OUT WHAT YOU LEARN
