It's such a shame because it teaches that keeping Shabbat is only about not driving a car, or turning on lights, or cooking and such. Which, sadly, is what many Jews believe. They'll refrain from all these things and spend all of Shabbat talking about politics, or making money, sports, you name it--anything but Torah. I experienced it myself when having become religious but still involved in politics, some of my friends decided to attend the party convention even though it was on Shabbat. I said, it doesn't matter that you don't use the electric door and that you walk to the convention hall. Once you're inside, you've left Shabbat. The chief rabbi of the UK will demonstrate to the Jewish people of his land that Shabbat doesn't matter. It's secondary to the human king who has, in actuality, no power whatsoever. It's a true shainda.
