SUKKOT Arab Violence in Jerusalem – Attempted MURDER of Family

Family with toddlers and baby viciously attacked and prevented from leaving

Amid the worst riots to break out in Israel since Operation Guardian of the Walls in Jerusalem overnight Wednesday, a Chareidi family with a baby and two toddlers came under fierce attack near Neve Yaakov as violent riots rocked Jerusalem overnight Wednesday – the worst riots since Operation Guardian of the Walls in 2021.

The family was on the way to Kever Rochel and made a wrong turn, ending up on the main road of the nearby Arab neighborhood of Beit Hanina. When the local Arabs spotted them, dozens of Arabs began trying to open the doors of the car and throwing rocks and other objects, while blocking the car from leaving the neighborhood.

The father of the family, Yaakov, told Israeli media outlets: “The Arabs had blocked the road with pallets. As soon as they realized we were Jews, they all charged at us and tried to open the door and started throwing stones and rocks at us. ”

“The window next to my wife exploded. My feet froze but then I remembered that Hakadosh Baruch Hu is watching over me – I felt a surge of koach and drove through the baalagan. My son began to wail along with my wife. I told her to call the police. A stone fell next to my child in the car. I was saved by nisei nissim in the zechus of Rochel Imeninu.”

The family’s car sustained heavy damage in the incident.

If the Police and IDF started shooting (all) those throwing rocks and boulders, they would think twice about attacking Jews!

Riots took place in Jerusalem neighborhoods that include Ras al-Amud in the city’s southeast; Wadi Joz, north of the Old City; and Beit Hanina in the northeast, where rioters attacked a car containing a Jewish family that included babies. The vehicle barely escaped the attack by the rock-throwing mob.

Throughout the eastern section of the city, Palestinians fired fireworks at buildings where Jews live, threw Molotov cocktails at vehicles, set trash cans on fire and assaulted security personnel.

The riots continued into the night. Police and Border Police units were deployed to several friction points. The police responded with riot dispersal means and engaged with mobs hurling rocks and firebombs and launching fireworks.

Following a situation assessment, the Border Police placed 10 of its reserve companies on standby.

An Israeli bus also came under rock attack near Kiryat Arba, in the Hebron area. An Israel Defense Forces unit shot one of the rock-throwers, wounding him.

On Wednesday night, a Palestinian gunman opened fire at Israeli security personnel stationed at the Qalandiya Crossing, near Ramallah. The Israeli force returned fire.

On Thursday morning, Defense Minister Benny Gantz held a situation analysis with Israel Police Commissioner Insp. Gen. Yaakov Shabtai, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Aviv Kochavi and other security chiefs.

At the end of the meeting, Gantz stressed the need to increase offensive and defensive measures as well as direct messaging to the Palestinian population and actions to thwart incitement on social media networks.
