Not Just Haredim . . . Again At HOMESH

Civil Administration Confiscates Equipment At Chomesh, Yeshiva Fears Planned Evacuation

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Members of the civil administration in Judea and Samaria arrived at Chomesh and began confiscating equipment belonging to the yeshiva residing there. Residents there claimed that force was used against yeshiva students during the confiscations. The yeshiva fears that the administration, which last week cut off electricity to the yeshiva, intends to remove the yeshiva at the end of the 30-day period of mourning for Yehuda Dimentman HyD. Currently the yeshiva is functioning without adequate electric light or heating.

“Once again the government issued a trial balloon to see the response of the public to terminating 15 years of study at this site,” the yeshiva announced. “The Israeli government has decided to revive the Disengagement Law and implement it in Chomesh. Due to the tremendous public support this did not happen at the end of the shiva of our student Yehuda Dimentman HyD.

However from the deployment of forces in the region and the violent events taking place we understand that the Bennett-Ganz government is preparing to implement their plans at the end of the 30 day mourning period. Every building material confiscated is another bullet fired at Yehuda Dimentman. We call on the government to stop the plans and prevent another disengagement.”

Samaria Regional head Yossi Dagan spoke at a protest tent in Jerusalem over the Chomesh demolitions. Dagan said that “the government is acting like a pyromaniac to ignite the region. We are returning to the same scenes of banishment and uprooting and our soldiers are being sent to police the events. I call on Bennett to take stock and stop the destructive elements acting since the day of the murder to uproot Chomesh. Don’t give a prize to terror! Don’t harm your brothers!

Hundreds of people demonstrated Sunday against the government’s continued discrimination towards the new communities in Judea and Samaria. A number of Knesset members expressed support for the demonstrators including Orit Struck (Religious Zionism) and Katy Shitrit (Likud).
