STORM #1:
Major, Disruptive Snowstorm to Extend from Plains to mid-Atlantic
The wintry cold grip will continue to rack up dollars in heating costs for many in the eastern two-thirds of the nation. AccuWeather Long Range Expert Meteorologist, Joe Bastardi expects this winter to finish as the coldest since the mid-1980s for the eastern half of the nation.
The snowstorm currently creating slow travel across the Plains will become increasingly disruptive to daily routines as it pushes to the mid-Atlantic. Expect cancellations and slow travel over the Ohio Valley, while "no travel" could be the theme in the mid-Atlantic by late Friday into Saturday. The latter region will endure the worst of the storm with over a foot of snow expected in some places. Areas from Philadelphia to Washington, D.C., westward to the central Appalachians can expect the worst of the storm that will evolve into an all-out blizzard. Washington, Baltimore and Philadelphia, you are going to get the worst of this winter storm. It will set in later Friday then really go to town Friday night into Saturday morning. Snow accumulations along this portion of the I-95 corridor will be upwards of a foot, and there could be more. Later Friday night and Saturday morning, the wind will grow stronger causing the snow to blow around quite a bit.
MOST UP-TO-DATE FORECAST
At a glance, you can see that the mid-Atlantic region is going to get the worst of it. Yes my friends, that 12- to 18-inch area from northern Virginia to southern New Jersey is for real.

NEW TRAIN OF STORMS BEGINS IN THE WEST
Storms lining up in the Pacific have again begun to make their way into the West. At times, including the next few days, their rain and mountain snow will stretch from Southern California to Washington and areas well inland.
While the overall strength and frequency of the storms will not be as intense as that of a couple of weeks ago, there will be enough rain, enough of the time, to raise problems with flash flooding and mudslides, as well as roadway and flight delays.
