"It is avoda zara."
"[...]Those who made this affirmation are not heroes. They are reshaim — even if they were yarmulkas and studied in yeshiva, and believe they are fighting to protect the Jewish people. The fact that many of them were brainwashed into becoming reshaim doesn’t change this, just like one who is brainwashed into serving avoda zara for the greater good is still an idolater, with all that this entails.[...]" [https://habayitah.blogspot.com/2025/04/rabbi-weissman-idf-is-god.html]
As the workload and their conditions increased with the edict of having to collect their own straw for making the bricks for the wall, and if one did not meet their quota their youngest child was substituted for the missing bricks, creating unbearable physical and especially psychological pain and stress upon the Israelites in Mitzrayim after Moshe their Redeemer went to Pharaoh, many gave up. Yes they gave up and went against Moshe and didn't want to go out with Moshe into the desert....... They succumbed to their torturers.
And this compares to a degree with the soldiers' broken morale, to the point of 'confessing' allegiance to the IDF "hard labor upon their neshomas". May Hashem awaken their guilt and extract confessions from their 'pintele yid' buried deep under their woeful pain just like those hostages that were held deep under the earth by their torturers.
But those who did NOT succumb went on to leave Mitzrayim and marched into the foreboding desert to arrive at HAR SINAI and proclaimed Naasei V'Nishma ........and to this day they are still sitting and learning in our Yeshivot and Kollelim devoted heart and soul to HKB"H.
May they continue to rise above any persecution to continue our Mesorah.
