Imagine if a "hilltop youth" with his big knitted kippah and flowing side locks entered an Arab village and broke into an Arab house and proceeded to rape a ten-year-old Arab girl in her bed.
The outrage and the horror expressed by Israelis of every stripe would know no bounds.
The thud of the national breast beating would be heard around the globe.
The Jewish ( nationalist /religious) rapist's trial would be displayed every evening on the news and accompanied by a heated discussion on how many life terms he should get in solitary confinement. There would be a witch hunt against all religious/Right wing Jews).
All the hilltop youth would be rounded up and tortured to confess to whatever the anti-Jewish crusade wished to hear.
Now for reality and not imaginary almost impossible scenarios.
This week an Israeli judge sentenced an Israeli Arab for breaking into a Jewish home and raping/sodomizing a ten-year-old Jewish girl in her bed. The judge decided that five years in prison fit the crime
This same week we read the portion about the destruction by G–d of the wicked city of Sedom.
Sodom was a city of clear laws. Their judges and rules reflected their values.

Well, one thing we know, there is measure for measure; the judge will also be judged one day. His callousness can only boomerang. If he was a so-called Jewish judge, it is beyond ugly but maybe this judge was an arab and took delight in this horrific evil. This perpetrator should have been given capital punishment!
The State, in going against so many basic Commandments, it sees daily the terrible mistake of making our mortal enemies citizens and residents, but still, it hasn't learned anything, r'l. H' Help us!
