THE DAY THEY ARRESTED THE HOLY TORAH

THE DAY NEW YORK POLICE ARRESTED THE HOLY TORAH

Hachnosas Sefer Torah Ends In NYPD Making Arrests

While the title to this blogpost is a bit exaggerated, and regardless of who is right and who is wrong, this is a huge Hillul Hashem.
But does it foretell anything else?

While it's obvious about a confrontation between the police & the chasidim, there is no explanation as to 'why'. Why was there a problem?

Anon, it seems they did not Go through the customs procedure to close the street. And it seems there was a traffic backup.
Maybe one car of a non Jew could not get through so he called the police? There is another way to go around that street. In BP the streets run N, S, E, and W. I also don’t know why it had to come to this.

1) The guy who didn't get a permit for the Hachnosas Sefer Torah made a Chillul Hashem. 2) The guy who didn't obey the cop made a Chillul Hashem.

There is no excuse for this behavior. We, as Jews, have to realize that we don't own Boro Park or any location for that matter. The only place that is rightfully ours, is Eretz Yisrael. The policeman had the right to do act the way he did.

Unfortunately, some parents have never educated their children about Chillul Hashem, i.e. #1 and #2.

It could have been handled much differently. Our Yidden should not have shouted Nazi and that female police officer should be reprimanded. But all comes from Above. The message here is that while the police would never have treated Blacks or Moslems this way, it's open season on Jews. Yidden in chul...time to come home.

Truth be told, these very frumme Yidden live in a bubble. They think they understand the outside world but don't realize they're taking the freedom they have in Artzot Habrit for granted because they really don't understand the city, state, country and worldview of the times we are now in. Some just don't think they need permits, etc. and that they can fight the police without repercussions. Also, really believe they don't realize anti-semitism is rising fast and, hopefully, not furious.
