Here’s the science behind black cumin seed oil’s
immune-supporting properties
Our immune system plays a vital role in our body. This complex network of cells, proteins, organs and organ systems is responsible for supporting optimal health and wellbeing. [1]
When harmful substances enter our bodies, the various components of our immune system -- particularly our immune cells -- work together to keep us healthy.
The major organs of our immune system produce different types of immune cells. These cells comprise two broad categories of immune response, namely, our innate (non-specific) and adaptive (specific) immune responses. [2]
Cells that belong to our innate immune system are the first responders in our body. They are not governed by specificity and work quickly and reliably to stop any threat from moving and causing widespread damage. Examples of innate immune cells are neutrophils, macrophages and natural killer (NK) cells. [3]
Unlike innate immune cells, those that belong to our adaptive immune system – namely, our T cells and B cells – require “training” so that they can eliminate threats without harming healthy cells. This is why they are the last to respond. In turn, the protection they provide is long-lasting as they are sustained by memory.
Some B cells and T cells have the ability to commit foreign invaders to memory. This function is what allows the immune system to mount a stronger and more effective response to reoccurring threats. [4] Some immune cells are also programmed to fight a diverse number of different threats. [5][6]
When your body detects invaders, immune cells called cytotoxic T cells jump into action. These cells are equipped with toxic proteins that can support healthy cells. Cytotoxic T cells share this important job with innate immune cells called NK (natural killer) cells.
One of the main goals of NK cells is to limit the spread of threats. [7] One way they do this is to attack abnormal or stressed cells. [8]
What’s more, NK cells play an important role in driving and suppressing inflammation.[9] Inflammation is a crucial part of the immune response because it is the body’s way of telling the immune system to start repairing damaged tissues. [10]
However, inflammation isn’t meant to last for too long. If it persists unnecessarily, inflammation can damage healthy cells. Studies have linked chronic inflammation to a wide range of serious health issues.
In order to prevent chronic inflammation, it is important to support the healthy functions of regulatory immune cells like NK cells. While these cells serve as immune promoters and release pro-inflammatory molecules upon activation, studies show that they also play a major role in controlling T cell responses and maintaining homeostasis. [11][12]
In fact, according to a study published in the journal Immunology, NK cells produce a regulatory protein called interleukin-10 (IL10). [13] This immunomodulator helps limit your immune response to threats in order to prevent damage to normal tissues. [14] [15]
Most people’s immune system should be able to support their optimal health and wellbeing. However, sometimes your immune system can use some support from superfoods such as black cumin seed oil.
Black cumin seed oil offers incredible immune support
and a wide range of health benefits
Black cumin (Nigella sativa) is a versatile plant with a long history of use as an ancient natural remedy. Its earliest use can be traced back to the time of the ancient Egyptians. Hippocrates, an ancient Greek physician now widely known as the father of modern medicine, also prescribed black cumin as a natural remedy for various issues. [16]
In old religious and medical texts, black cumin, particularly its seeds and the oil extracted from them, is referred to as a “cure-all.” Black cumin seeds are featured prominently in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic Medicine, where it is used to support healthy skin, respiratory system, digestive system and reproductive system. [17][18]
Today, black cumin is known by many other names, such as black caraway, kalonji, Roman coriander and fennel flower. Its little black seeds are still widely used as a spice and as a natural herbal remedy. [19] Black cumin’s rich history and widespread use have also attracted the interest of modern researchers, hence the abundance of literature on its chemical properties and medicinal benefits.
One of the many things black cumin is known for is its ability to support healthy immune function. Black cumin contains an active compound called thymoquinone, which can help maintain optimal immune health. [20]
According to a study published in the journal International Immunopharmacology, thymoquinone can support the healthy functions of T cells and NK cells. [21] This means that supplementing with black cumin seed oil is a great way to support optimal immune health.
A study published in the journal Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology also reported that thymoquinone supports the healthy production of immune-regulating proteins. [22] This is one of the main reasons why thymoquinone is so effective at maintaining a healthy immune system.
Another way that black cumin seed oil helps protect healthy cells is by supporting your body’s natural antioxidant defenses. Black cumin seed oil contains a wide range of potent antioxidants, such as alkaloids, flavonoids and saponins. [23] These phytonutrients can neutralize harmful free radicals, which are known to cause oxidative stress and damage healthy cells.
According to a study published in the journal Free Radical Research, thymoquinone can also support your antioxidant defenses by reacting with glutathione, a potent antioxidant produced in your liver, to form glutathionyl-dihydrothymoquinone. [24]
This compound is a more powerful antioxidant than thymoquinone
and has a greater potential for scavenging free radicals.
Aside from your immune system, black cumin seed oil can also support a healthy cardiovascular system. According to chemical analysis, black cumin seed oil is rich in healthy fats like linoleic acid and oleic acid, which are known to support healthy blood cholesterol levels that are already within the normal range. [25][26] A study published in the journal Nutrients also noted that oleic acid can support the healthy functions of your liver and pancreas. [27]
Meanwhile, the presence of another healthy fat in black cumin seed oil makes it a great supplement for people who are physically active. Eicosadienoic acid, a rare omega-6 fatty acid, is used by the body to form arachidonic acid. According to a study published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, this essential fatty acid can support healthy muscle recovery after strenuous exercise. [28]
Black cumin seed oil can also support healthy hair, skin and digestive function. A study published in the journal Phytomedicine looked at the nutrient content of black cumin seeds and found that they contain an abundance of B-vitamins and vitamin E, which are essential nutrients that support healthy hair, skin and nails. [29][30]
When it comes to your digestive health, studies show that black cumin seed oil can support your body’s natural production of gastric mucin. [31] Mucin is a large protein that serves as part of your intestinal barrier. It helps protect the lining of your small intestine against the damaging actions of digestive enzymes, abrasion by food particles and other threats. [32]
In addition, research suggests that black cumin seed oil is an excellent tool to support sensible weight management plans. According to a study published in the journal Food & Function, black cumin seed oil can support your journey to achieve sensible weight management goals when combined with a well-balanced diet and regular exercise. 6 Natural Ibuprofen Alternatives Backed by Clinical Research

IBUPROFEN: With the public's growing awareness of the deadly side effects associated with the regular use of synthetic painkillers like ibuprofen, the need for natural, evidence-based alternatives has never been greater.
People generally think that over-the-counter drugs are safer than physician-prescribed ones. Unfortunately that does not hold true for drugs like ibuprofen, consumed at a rate of billions of doses, annually, and responsible for thousands of cardiovascular disease-related deaths each year.
Did you know that Merck's blockbuster drug Vioxx caused more than 27,000 deaths and heart attacks between 1999 and 2003? In fact, it was the FDA's own drug safety researcher, David Graham, who blew the whistle on the agency in 2004 at a Congressional hearing, estimating that over 60,000 Americans died as a result of its use, and the FDA's inaction around their well-known side effects.
What does this have to do with ibuprofen? Researchers have known that ibuprofen is at least as dangerous as Vioxx for at least six years. But millions continue to take this drug, daily, without receiving adequate warning, while heart disease and cardiac mortality statistics continue to expand unabated.
For further background on the severe and still underreported dangers of ibuprofen, consult the following articles:

Zinc is a very powerful way to strengthen your body against viruses. The National Institutes of Health notes:
Zinc is found in cells throughout the body. It helps the immune system fight off invading bacteria and viruses.
An abundance of evidence has accumulated over the past 50 years to demonstrate the antiviral activity of zinc against a variety of viruses, and via numerous mechanisms.
***
Ionic zinc possesses unique and distinct antiviral properties against a number of human viruses .... Zinc has been shown to contribute to a number of innate and adaptive immune signaling pathways that have been comprehensively reviewed recently.
***
Upon recognition of microbial antigens ... a rapid and transient influx of free zinc ions occurs.
***
Zinc plays a significant role in the response to [interferons] by modulating secretion, cytokine potency, and receptor binding, as well as influencing signaling intermediates and pathway inhibitors.
Harvard notes:
Zinc is a component of many enzymes and transcription factors in cells all over the body, and inadequate zinc levels limit the individual’s ability to mount an adequate immune response to infections. Multiple meta-analyses and pooled analyses of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) have shown that oral zinc supplementation reduces the incidence rate of acute respiratory infections by 35%, shortens the duration of flu-like symptoms by approximately 2 days, and improves the rate of recovery. The studies were conducted in the US as well as in multiple low- and middle-income countries such as India, South Africa, and Peru. The dose of zinc in these studies ranged from 20 mg/week to 92 mg/day. Dose does not appear to be the main driver of the effectiveness of zinc supplementation. [More on this below.]
Zinc was shown to inhibit viral replication in many other types of coronavirus, including in the original SarsCov coronavirus. Many common colds are actually mild coronaviruses, and as UCHealth points out:
A Cochrane review updated in 2013 summarized 18 randomized controlled trials involving 1,781 participants across all age groups found that zinc – particularly in lozenge or syrup form – “inhibits replication of the virus” that cause the common cold and shortens average duration of the common cold when taken within 24 hours of onset of symptoms at a dose of more than 75 milligrams a day.
A 2010 study led by University of Leiden Medical researchers in the Netherlands sought to understand how zinc inhibited that replication. The team reported that zinc inhibits a cousin of SARS-CoV-2: SARS-CoV, the original SARS of the 2003 outbreak.
And it could be very helpful in fighting this specific type of coronavirus, SarsCov2 (i.e. Covid):
Interestingly, most of the risk groups described for COVID-19 are at the same time groups that were associated with zinc deficiency. As zinc is essential to preserve natural tissue barriers such as the respiratory epithelium, preventing pathogen entry, for a balanced function of the immune system and the redox system, zinc deficiency can probably be added to the factors predisposing individuals to infection and detrimental progression of COVID-19. Finally, due to its direct antiviral properties, it can be assumed that zinc administration is beneficial for most of the population, especially those with suboptimal zinc status.
***
The fact that zinc deficiency is responsible for 16% of all deep respiratory infections world-wide provides a first strong hint on a link of zinc deficiency with the risk of infection and severe progression of COVID-19 and suggests potential benefits of zinc supplementation.
***
Infections with coronaviruses go along with damage of the ciliated epithelium and ciliary dyskinesia consecutively impairing the mucociliar clearance. It was shown that physiological concentrations of zinc increase ciliary beat frequency. Moreover, zinc supplementation in zinc deficient rats had a positive effect on the number and the length of bronchial cilia .... Improved ciliary clearance does not only improve the removal of virus particle, it also reduces the risk of secondary bacterial infections ....
***
Zinc is essential for preserving tissue barriers
***
Zinc ... might decrease ACE-2 expression and thus viral entry into the cell.
***
As a virus, SARS-CoV2 is highly dependent on the metabolism of the host cell. Direct antiviral effects of zinc have been demonstrated in various cases .... Examples include coronaviridae [i.e. coronaviruses].
***
Zinc supplementation improves the mucociliary clearance, strengthens the integrity of the epithelium, decreases viral replication, preserves antiviral immunity, attenuates the risk of hyper-inflammation, supports anti-oxidative effects and thus reduces lung damage and minimized secondary infections.
Less than 24 hours after the Frontline Doctors first press conference in Washington D.C. was censored and removed from Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter, and after having their own website knocked offline in an attempt to silence them, the doctors were back in front of the steps of the Supreme Court building today (Tuesday, July 28, 2020) for their second press conference, at great risk to their lives, their families, and their jobs, as they remained determined to bring the truth directly to the American people that a cure for COVID exists, and that the public does not need to cower in fear anymore.
While the corporate media continues to blacklist the group of doctors and refuses to cover their press conferences, some hecklers showed up to try and drown out the speakers.
See: The Lost Book of Remedies
The fact that these doctors are seeing a 100% cure rate for COVID patients is a message Big Pharma, Big Tech, and their political leaders do not want the public to hear. Because it would mean that their drugs and their coming vaccines are worthless and unnecessary.
They do not want healthy Americans. They want sick Americans cowering in fear so they can control us for their own purposes.
Dr. Simone Gold was the first doctor to speak today, and she said:
We are finally coming forward, at great personal and professional costs to ourselves.
We’re tired of seeing patients die in front of us, and we’re even more upset to see the spider web of fear that is enveloping the American public.
When there’s a treatment, there’s a cure. People have been afraid to say that.
But what else do you call it if you give somebody the medication early, and it aborts the disease process?
We’re coming after you Big Tech. We’re coming after you.
We won’t be silenced. The First Amendment is first for a reason. There’s thousands of us.
Dr. Richard Urso was another doctor who spoke today:
We cannot let our patients die without treatment. And that’s the major thing that’s happened.
We’ve been told to hide in our houses, wear a mask, and wait for a vaccine.
That’s not a strategy. We have a strategy.
Hydroxychloroquine works. Withholding it from patients is shameful.
