Israel (VINnews) — 37-year-old Liba Ahuva Schreiber, was touring Israel after Tisha B’Av with her family and was 26 weeks pregnant when a terrorist shot her in the stomach as she waited by a bus stop near King David’s Tomb.
8 people were hurt in the attack and Liba, who was seriously wounded was rushed to Shaare Tzedek Medical Center where she gave birth, prematurely to her son, Dovid.
Today, after 4 months, on the first night of Chanukah, Liba and her son Dovid were released from Shaarei Tzedek Medical Center. Liba left holding her baby for the first time to the scene of balloons and signs which were hung up in the hospital by the thrilled hospital staff in honor of her release.
Her husband, Chaim Schreiber said “Blessed is He who performed a miracle for us in this place. We arrived here after Tisha B’Av and we are leaving on the eve of the Hanukkah holiday and are happy to celebrate Hanukkah at home with family. Our lives were in danger, and we thank the Creator of the World that we lived and survived and for His miracles and wonders. A special thanks to the dedicated medical, nursing, and social staff members who treated and saved my wife’s and the baby’s lives.”
“Thank you to the MDA team that saved her life and evacuated her quickly. Thank you to the trauma and intensive care team that saved her and brought her back from the brink of death to life, the entire surgical department, and all the other supporting departments and units that fought for her survival and rehabilitation. Thank you to the team who treated the premature baby for four months until he could go home with us, hale and healthy,” Chaim finished.
Liba and her son still require major treatment which will take place in the states.
