Make the Southern Wall a Place of Bakoshos

Nothing happens in a vacuum. There is a reason for everything that happens to Bnei Yaakov.

Maybe this whole episode at the Kotel is meant to tell us something more than the petty squabbles that have taken place. Maybe it's time to move the davening to another wall of the Temple Mount. The area could be made accessible, although not as comfortable as it is now. This comfort has lead to the congregating of peoples on the plaza which I find distracting to the davening that is supposed to take place. The Kotel is Herod's wall that he built around the Jewish Temple. It is the presence of the Jews that makes it seem Holy, not Herod's stones. Besides, when we build the Third Temple then the stones will be imbued with Holiness.

Why don't we also daven/pray at the Southern Wall, where Hulda prayed and held court, and where the gates that once watched over the Israelites as they entered the Temple area. Let these Gates once again watch over her children begging HKB"H to have mercy on them and bring the Moshiach. Let us pray again as humble pilgrims.

 After all, aren't all the Walls of the Temple Mount sacred to a degree? However, we need the new walls of the Third Temple.





I actually see this as leading to the rebuilding of the Third Temple. Not immediately, but this is a siman, in the same way that the current government is also a siman. Hashem wants to hear our voices, calling out to Him. He wants to hear how much we want the Geula and the Third Beit HaMikdash. So along comes some 'women' who threaten the "the way things have been done at the Kotel," and along comes a new government that seems to threaten the lifestyle of certain members of Klal Yisroel. What is it that HaShem wants of us?

But Am Yisrael is more than any one segment of Jews, it's a nation that has been scattered over the globe, in various alien nations with differing lifestyles. Could we sojourn in these countries without absorbing their customs and mores? Like a quilt containing many differing pieces of fabric, Am Yisrael needs to be sewn together on her own land. It takes time, patience, and the proper guidance.  

We need Mashiach to come and help us mold into a nation of Cohanim, a nation of Holy Jews. We await the return of Moshe Rabbeinu, the Avos and our Imahos. Soon, so say the learned ones.

Wise or Boorish?

This week’s portion, Korach, relates the tragic story of the mutiny staged by a man named Korach (Numbers chapter 16), who organized a rebellion against Moses and Aaron, chosen by the Almighty to serve respectively as the Prophet and as the High Priest of Israel.

The rabbis in the Midrash made a strange observation. “Korah was clever,” the rabbis declare, “so why did he commit such a folly”? What propelled the wise Korach to declare war against Moses and Aron.

Their question is intriguing. How did the rabbis know that Korach was clever? Never has this person or his wisdom been mentioned in the Torah before? Whence the certainty that Korach was a wise man? Perhaps he was a fool.

The answer, of course, is that the rabbis discerned the wisdom of Korach from this very incident. The very mutiny of Korach against the authority of Moses and Aaron, demonstrates wisdom and perception.

But why? On the surface, the mutiny seems to be a symptom of good old jealousy, of an unbridled ego craving power and fame.

No Distinctions

For this we must dissect the argument of Korach.

“The entire community is holy,” argued Korach to Moses and Aaron in this week’s portion, “and G-d is within them. Why do you exalt yourselves above the community of G-d?”

These are powerful words. G-d is within each and every person. Why does anybody consider themselves spiritually superior to anybody else? Truth and holiness are imbedded in each and every soul; within every pulsating heart flows the cosmic energy, so why is Moses telling people what G-d wants? Why is Aron serving as the exclusive High Priest of G-d?

Why does a Jew need Moses to teach him the word of G-d and Aaron to perform the service in the Holy Temple in his stead, when he himself possesses a soul that is a spark of the divine flame? Why can’t he realize his relationship with G-d on his own, without teachers, leaders and priests?

Korach is the father of spiritual anarchy. Korach argues against all forms of spiritual authority and leadership, and against any proscribed role in the spiritual community. Korach aspires to create a society free from distinctions, borders and categories. We are all divine, and hence we are all one.

Imagine. Imagine there was no Moses, no Aron, no Sanctuary, no Kohanites, Levites or Israelites, and no religious authorities too. It's easy if you try. And the Jews would live as one.

And then from the Jews, Korach believed, the holistic energy-flow would travel to all of mankind. “And the world would live as one.”

Korach’s message—let us confess—touches a chord in us. There is something about his vision that resonates in our hearts. This is because Korach was dead right (which is why the Torah wants us to know about his ideology.)

But he was also dead wrong.

From Unity to Multiplicity and Back

We all come from one source. All of us originate in the “womb” of G-d, so to speak, where we are indeed singular. Before creation, there was only undefined unity. There were no borders, definitions or distinctions. No heaven, no earth and no countries. No teachers and students. No cultures, nations and tribes. All of us were submerged in the singular unity of the Endless Light.

On our deepest level, we crave to recreate this wholesomeness in our lives. We yearn for our egos to melt away in the singularity of existence. Remember the sense of ecstasy you felt in the good old times sitting with your friends in middle of the night, playing the music. There was no you or I; only the music.

Each of us, in our own way, pines to go back to that pre-creation paradigm of unity. We want to imagine that we were never created. Imagine…

But—lo and behold—created we were…

Modern Age Spirituality

The idea that all souls are the same was Korach’s mistake, and it is one of the mistakes of modern new-age spirituality. We are accustomed to thinking that definitions create barriers, and barriers cause mistrust and hatred. We are convinced that to be spiritual means to have no borders.

But creation was the act of making borders. From unity came multiplicity. From a single undefined G-d, came an infinitely complex and diverse universe. Diversity is sown into the very fabric of existence. No two flakes of snow are alike; no two people are alike. There are tens of millions of different species of plants and animals. And there are the inherent divisions between people, such as male and female, body and soul, and the specific divisions into nations, cultures and individuals.

Why did G-d create multiplicity? Because the deepest unity is the unity found within diversity. If we are all the same, unity is no achievement. The truest unity is achieved when differentiations and demarcations are imposed upon the primordial oneness, and its component parts are each given a distinct role in existence, complementing each other. Like notes in a ballad, each of us represents a unique and distinct note, and together we recreate a cosmic Divine symphony, not by singing the same note, but by expressing our individual note as an indispensible part of the song. Every individual existence is part of a symphonious expression of the singular essence of its Creator. In this world we must achieve unity within diversity.

For the unity of humankind we need one G-d; but for G-d's unity to be complete we need human diversity, each individual fulfilling his or her role in existence, sharing with others their unique contribution, and learning from others the wisdom they lack on their own.

Our differences must not divide us; on the contrary, our differences complete us.

This is true on a political and sociological level as well. Many believe that worldwide anarchy could lead to worldwide peace. Yet anarchy is never peaceful, because conflict in the world is not the result of the division of our planet into superimposed countries and cultures. Conflict is the result of the truth that there exist inherent differences between peoples and when these differences compete, conflict is born. Therefore, our role as humans is not to deny that there are distinctions, but rather to create those types of borders and boundaries that will foster respect, unity and love within the inherent diversity of mankind.

If we create unity by denying that there are any differences between us, our unity will be skin-deep and short lived, once we realize that there are indeed distinctions. Besides, by denying our differences, we will deprive each other of what each of us can give the other which the other lacks. Real unity is one that is acheived within our diversity, or as Robert Frost wrote: Good fences good neighbors make.

And it goes one step deeper. Since G-d has no image, the only way a world filled with images can grasp His unity is by diverse images integrating, for each of them captures a part of the truth, none of them captures it all. Together we recreate the oneness.

To experience undefined unity in a world of definition, diversity is the only way. By the integration of diverse forces we capture that transcendental unity.

Fusion

The Chabad school of Jewish spirituality takes it a step deeper.

G-d can’t be defined by unity or by multiplicity. Just as He transcends plurality, He also transcends unity. Therefore, it is only through the fusion of unity and multiplicity—through a place which transcends both of them—that we can connect to the true undefined essence of G-d.

If you choose unity and “worship” it, you are clinging to one aspect of G-d. Conversely, if you embrace the ethos multiplicity, you are acknowledging another aspect of G-d. Only in the fusion of the two, only in discovering the unity within multiplicity, and the multiplicity within the unity, do you touch the undefined essence of G-d, which transcends and integrates all-ness and oneness, where nothingness and something-ness are one.

Swallowed and Consumed

What was the end of the Korach saga?

Korach and his colleagues were swallowed by the earth. The 250 leaders of Israel that joined his mutiny were consumed by a flame. This is a psychological description of what happened to many an idealist who attempted to live by Korach’s mythical unity and by John Lennon’s Imagine and imagination. It occurred to a generation of young passionate and beautiful Americans who worshipped and romanticized unity at the expense of all forms of authority, borders and distinctions.

The harsh, competitive reality of earth “swallowed” up much of their young idealism and selflessness. Their passion ascended in the flames of time, as they themselves were absorbed by the self-serving and egocentric demands of planet earth. From beneath the crust of the earth we can still recognize stretched out arms, silently asking the question, what happened to all of the love?

For the love that defies borders is short lived. It ascends in the flames of ecstasy and nothing of it remains in the harsh realities of planet earth. Only love and unity that recognizes diversity, borders and categories, will allow heaven and earth to touch lips with each other.

'Our hearts are broken for the parents': Seven children found drowned in school amid fears 24 more classmates have perished after tornado pulverizes Oklahoma City suburb killing at least 91

• Two entire schools flattened in Moore, Oklahoma after monster tornado touched down just after 3pm local time
• At least 91 people confirmed dead, authorities say, and at least another 233 injured in local hospitals
• More than 20 children are among the dead, including the seven found drowned in Plaza Towers
• Children were told to hold on to the walls, while teachers shielding the students with their bodies
• Hundreds of homes wiped out and more than 8,000 people left without power after up to 200 mph winds pulverized a 30-square-mile stretch
• Looting was reported in the aftermath of the storm, according to some news outlets
• The devastating tornado was larger than 1999 storm in the area that left 36 people dead

Say YES to Sovereignty!

I don't know how much of the following is verbatim, but here is a Jewish Press rendition, written by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu, of what Yair Lapid said:


Yair Lapid, Israel’s Finance Minister and head of Israel’s second largest political party, has unraveled U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry’s efforts to reincarnate the “peace process” before Kerry even packed his bags for another trip to Israel at the end of the week.

He told the Yediot Acharonot newspaper Sunday what everyone except Kerry and the European Union’s Catherine Ashton know – it is unrealistic even to think about a final stage peace agreement for the establishment of the Palestinian Authority as an independent country.

It is questionable if even Kerry’s boss, President Barack Obama, actually thinks an agreement is in the cards.

Maybe, just maybe, Obama has learned what Ronald Regan, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush never seemed to grasp – the Palestinian Authority will make peace with Israel only when it is sure that the Jewish state’s future is doomed.

That is why PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas refuses to budge on the Arab world’s dream to import several million Arabs to Israel, based on their claim that Israel is their home because their parents, grandparents, great-great parents and their dogs lived here.

The Oslo Accords, Clinton’s time bomb that fulfilled his promise to create a new Middle East, although not exactly the way he envisioned, provided for interim borders for a Palestinian Authority state, with final borders to be negotiated.

Bush’s Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, in one of her many less enlightened moments, agreed that maybe it was best to simply skip over that little clause and go for broke.

And the “peace process’ since then indeed went broke.

Correctly perceiving that there was no need to concede anything except uncertainty, Abbas re-defined the word “negotiations” to mean “you give and I take,” with the only undecided issue being the date that Israel will supposedly sign its own death certificate.

The term “interim agreement” is no where in his lexicon. It is buried deep, deep under the “peace process,” and here comes Lapid, the last hope for the center-left to keep those pesky national religious Jews from getting too uppity, to the rescue of the right wing nationalists.

He also displayed remarkable honesty and lack of tact at the same by stating that Abbas “is still not psychologically ready for an agreement with Israel, either partial or full.”

Lapid is part of an overwhelming majority of Israeli Jews who are not willing to hand over such areas as the Old City on Jerusalem to Abbas.

Abbas could save himself from virtually isolation by the Obama administration if he accepts the idea of interim borders, but to do so would be political suicide, if not a sign of a real-life death wish.

He has dug himself into a hole by promising and promising and promising the PA “street” that he will get everything he wants, lock, stock and barrel.

The joker in the cards is Lapid’s statement Sunday that President Obama could set a three-year time limit for defining final borders while carrying out Bush’s written promise to Israel that such as areas as Gush Etzion and Maaleh Adumim would remain part of Israel.

He also wants to put aside the issues of Jerusalem and the Arab demand for importing millions of foreign Arabs into Israel. Abbas has rejected that idea time and time again.

It’s too late for that.

Abbas has outsmarted himself into a tight corner, and Lapid’s incredible blindness to reality is just what the right-wing camp needs.

Every time Abbas say “no,” the closer Israel gets to saying “yes” to declaring sovereignty over Jewish population centers in Judea and Samaria.

Lapid also seems to have forgotten one little item in his sophomoric ideas of peace: Gaza. That is that little piece of God-forsaken land that Egypt was thrilled to be rid of in the Six-Day War in 1967. Without an agreement between Abbas and Hamas, Kerry can forget about his Mission Impossible,

The same is true if Abbas and Hamas ever do reunite, because that would mean the vowed acceptance of terror, although Abbas could get around that by calling it “resistance.”

There was a vivid discussion in the Knesset on the rights of Jews to pray on the Temple Mount. "Rian Kamal, the head of the Alaqsa Fund, which raises money for services, facilities, and other projects for Muslim worshippers on the Temple Mount, spoke at the Knesset hearing on demands by Jewish groups that Jews be allowed to ascend the Mount and pray openly."

According to the Foreign Ministry, any change in the status quo on the Mount would likely cause an international incident that would put Israel in a very poor light

Correction, not a "poor light" but a Holy Light!

Let there be an international incident ... Then state clearly and in no uncertain terms ... That the Temple Mount belongs to all the Jews and they are back on their land to maintain stewardship of the Temple Mount that King Solomon built with the plans of his father, King David. The Holy Five Books of Moses declares that HaShem, the Creator and Ruler of the entire world gave Eretz Yisrael to the Jews as an inheritance from the days of Avraham Avinu, passed down through his sons Yitzchak and Yaakov, and to their descendants who are living in Israel today. 

The Koran says so and the Arabs know so. 

The time has come for the rebuilding to begin!

The fact that this Muslim mentioned Moshiach in connection with the Temple Mount, and its online for all to read  could be a sign of things to be. I doubt he believes in the Moshiach that we believe in.  But, maybe if we began praying for Moshiach on the Temple Mount, it might get things moving.

I read this at The BLAZE:  A California couple had their five-month-old baby “snatched” by police after they took the infant to get a second opinion on a medical procedure...

At one point ... a nurse came in and started giving the baby, ... medicine. When she [the mother] asked what it was, the nurse allegedly replied, “I don’t know.”


“... you’re working as a nurse, and you don’t even know what to give to my baby…?” They later found out that medicine was antibiotics, which [the mother] claims the doctor told her [the baby] shouldn’t have received.


“If we got the one mistake after another, I don’t want to have my baby have surgery in the hospital where I don’t feel safe,”



So the mother and father took the baby for a second opinion. What happened next is alarming and even more shocking


“I’m going to grab your baby, and don’t resist, and don’t fight me okay?” (said the police and Child Protective Service 'CPS' agents)






“It seems like parents have no rights whatsoever,” ... Originally from Russia, he said the situation reminds him of a “communist regime.”

The use of 'careful' language in describing Islamic terrorists is troubling for me. Not calling a “rose a rose” is evasive, dishonest, and deceptive. If they are Islamic, muslim, say so!

The same ‘careful’ language could be applied to any religious (Christian, Morman, Jewish, etc.) person who ‘might’ be deemed the new ‘anti-social’ and thus ‘the other’ and ‘suspect’.

A step further and you might up with ‘the enemy’. One must call the enemy, the enemy, but not your next door neighbor going to Church (because you see it as extremism), or a Jew wearing a Tallis or Tefillin (because they look weird).

Saudi Arabia is hoping to wean jailed al-Qaeda terrorists off religious extremism with counseling, spa treatments and plenty of exercise at a Luxury Rehabilitation Center in Riyadh.

"In order to fight terrorism, we must give them an intellectual and psychological balance... through dialogue and persuasion," 

"To treat the problem at its root, one should challenge jihadist thought with an enlightened philosophy, not just with other Salafist ideas that are only slightly less extreme,"

"There must be pluralism and an acknowledgement of the rights of others to be different."

In between sessions with counselors and talks on religion, prisoners will be able to relax in the center's facilities which include an Olympic-size indoor swimming pool, a sauna, gym and a television hall. During the day, the prisoners will attend seminars on religious affairs, aimed at steering them away from thoughts of jihad.

[A] total of 2,336 al-Qaeda prisoners have now been through Saudi rehabilitation schemes. The percentage of those who rejoin the deviant minority does not exceed 10%

Now, why didn't America think of this? A little swimming, some lectures by Chabad on the Seven Mitzvos Bnei Noah, and tasty gourmet meals!

April 15-16: Coincidences ... or Maybe a Divine Message

A few things seem to have collided around April 15-16 linked by the Boston tragedy. They may be coincidences, or they might be connected through the weave of terrorism's spider web being spun across the globe.


World Net Daily indicates that the US was warned about future attacks on America's soil:
"The source for today’s information blamed the Islamic regime for the Boston attack and pointed to the collaboration of the regime’s Quds Forces with Hezbollah and elements of al-Qaida with links to individuals in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. He said that under Quds Force guidance, Hezbollah recruited Sunni terrorists allied with al-Qaida factions in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, who then entered the U.S. for terrorist activities. Two earthquakes, one massive, struck Iran and were felt From New Delhi to Dubai and all "Across Middle East Region.  Under investigation is a fragment from a Pressure Cooker identified as the bomb (filled and timed), which someone linked to weapon styles used in Pakistan. Pakistan suffered from the quake, that was just across the border near the epicenter of Iran's 7.8 massive earthquake. A collaboration of Iran and Afghan-Pakistani al-Qaidaniks could be responsible for the Boston attack. Saudi Arabia is predominantly Sunni. Iran is predominantly Shia. They are both functioning under an Islamic umbrella. Either one or the other is targeting Jews, Israel, America.

"Saudi King Abdullah and Egypt’s Morsi condemn Boston bombings" (Oh, really?) DEBKAfile discloses "that suspicion has fallen on a terror cell of three Saudi nationals, very possibly tied to Al Qaeda in Arabia...  a third is on the run."


And more so, Oklahoma experienced 5 quakes about the same time. Earthquakes rock Iran and Oklahoma.




Surrounding the Boston Terror Attack, we have 5 earthquakes in Oklahoma, 2 earthquakes in Iran (how Oklahoma fits into this not sure, but), Korean threats to Nuke countries, Anniversary of the Korean ancestral socialist tyrannical regime, US Tax Day, Boston Patriots Day, Boston International Marathon, the first and oldest since 1897, Boston Tea Party revolt, Israel Independence Day, Korean Marathon, and perhaps more.

First of all, our sympathies go out to those wounded (in awful ways). Everything I try to write is just limp. I can't imagine the painful healing they will have to experience. My sympathies to all the injured and those who were murdered.  This attack reminds me of the bus-bombings in Israel, the bombs filled with nails, ball-bearings and rat poison) ,  Dov Bar Leib and others who estimated it was Al-Qaeda, you just may be right:

U.S. spy agencies believe the recent bellicose rhetoric from North Korea is mainly an effort by leader Kim Jong-un to demonstrate he is firmly in command, National Intelligence Director James Clapper said on Thursday.

“Much of the rhetoric - in fact all of the belligerent rhetoric of late - I think is designed for both an internal and an external audience. But I think first and foremost it’s to show that he is firmly in control in North Korea,” Clapper said.

North Korea’s economy is in dire straits, he added, noting signs that some of its army has been diverted to work in agriculture. And he said there has been a “steady stream” of defectors lately, compared with prior years, when two a year would have been notable.
