COALITION CRACKS: Degel Hatorah And Agudas Yisroel Withdraw from Netanyahu’s Government Over Failure to Pass Draft Exemption Bill
Few people are troubled by the fact that the scroll in which the establishment of the State of Israel was declared calls for the establishment of an “elected constituent assembly,” to be convened no later than October 1, 1948, to adopt a constitution for the fledgling state.
In 1949, the provisional government of Israel arranged for the election of a “constituent assembly” to write the state’s constitution and prepare for the elections to the Israeli Knesset. At some point, the Charedi parties will have to conclude that withdrawing from the government is not enough. Regardless of empty lip service, they, going all the way to the top, are at war with Hashem. The era of wheeling and dealing for a slice of the pie is over.
The time has come to withdraw from the Knesset too. Leave everything in Hashem's hand. This is hishtadlus today. At this point, anything less is faintheartedness.
