LONDON – In the wake of Zohran Mamdani’s victory in the New York City mayoral race, Chief Rabbi Pinchas Goldschmidt, president of the Conference of European Rabbis and former Chief Rabbi of Moscow, issued a stark warning to American Jews: “This feels deeply familiar to Europe’s Jewish community.”
In a widely shared thread posted to X, Rabbi Goldschmidt drew chilling parallels between the rise of far-left, pro-Palestinian politicians in Europe and what he described as emerging patterns in the United States.

“ As an American Jew and as a human, I am truly frightened that an antisemitic communist, Mamdani, has actually promoted murdering Jews by supporting and legitimizing the antisemitic rally cry ‘globalize the intifada,’ refuses to accept the Jewish State of Israel as a Jewish state and is friendly with Israel-bashing Jew-haters,” Klein said.
Mamdani “has been mainstreamed in the most important Jewish city in America,” Klein said. “It is time to make aliyah to Israel.”
