To those who are politically minded and a bit confused and alarmed by what is happening in America constitutionally, then I recommend this book. I have heard the author speak (in NY area he's on WOR in the AM 9-11 and also online) and he is refreshingly candid.
There are many perspectives and opinions going around, and while it is always the best policy to follow our Torah guides, Avraham, Yitzchak, and Yaakov, it is also important to learn about the issues in the practical sense.
I find this very interesting, even though I have never been 'patriotic' until I witnessed 9/11 firsthand. The unity of the good people in America was surprising to me. Didn't think it existed. I grew up in the same city as the Liberty Bell, visited all the historical sites as a "cultural tour", and lived and worked in the middle of the historical foundations of this country, but never really 'took in' the meaning of it all. So, now, we are witnessing the very principles that created this country being 'revised, axed, and perverted'.
To me this spells the end of this Golus and I am excited about living in these times. We are all witnesses to Mighty Hand of HaShem moving through 'history'. Enough about what I think.
COMMON SENSE by Glenn Beck
Synopsis
"If you believe it's time to put principles above parties, character above campaign promises, and Common Sense above all -- then I ask you to read this book...."In any era, great Americans inspire us to reach our full potential. They know with conviction what they believe within themselves. They understand that all actions have consequences. And they find commonsense solutions to the nation's problems.
One such American, Thomas Paine, was an ordinary man who changed the course of history by penning Common Sense, the concise 1776 masterpiece in which, through extraordinarily straightforward and indisputable arguments, he encouraged his fellow citizens to take control of America's future -- and, ultimately, her freedom.
Nearly two and a half centuries later, those very freedoms once again hang in the balance. And now, Glenn Beck revisits Paine's powerful treatise with one purpose: to galvanize Americans to see past government's easy solutions, two-part monopoly, and illogical methods and take back our great country.
To some, Thomas Paine was not so sympathetic to Jews. But I don't know about that. But I do think that Glenn Beck is definitely on the side of the Jews. On the B&N page you will also find a "Studio" from which you can hear a piece by the author.
There are "Reviews" to read, and if you prefer, the book is on Compact Disc (unabridged) 3 CDs
