Rabbi Kahana – Parashat Ha’a’zinu (and Yom Kippur)

 BS”D Yom Kippur and Parashat Ha’a’zinu 5783

by Rabbi Nachman Kahana | Oct 3, 2022

HaShem does not possess any characteristics associated with any created being. We do not even have the necessary vocabulary to discuss the essence of HaShem, which is beyond all logic or laws of physics. HaShem is “something else”.  However, out of sheer necessity, the Torah itself sets the precedent of applying human characteristics to the Almighty because there is no other avenue of speech or thought by which we can discuss the Creator. Therefore, we find verbs such “HaShem said” or adjectives like “HaShem was angry”, to make it possible to contemplate how HaShem communicated to lowly man; and as if HaShem also possess emotional qualities like human beings.

GREAT EXPECTATIONS – GREAT DISAPPOINTMENTS

The above heading encapsulates the life of humanity’s greatest Jew – Moshe Rabbeinu. Moshe possessed great expectations.

1- He expected that his family life would be an example for all the nation. However, Moshe was forced to withdraw from his wife Tzipora due to the circumstances of his closeness to HaShem.

Disappointment number one!

2- Moshe expected to enter Eretz Yisrael at the head of the former unruly, defiant, intractable and rebellious multitude of slaves whom he had turned into the only holy nation on earth. But our parasha states (31:2):

וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵהֶם בֶּן מֵאָה וְעֶשְׂרִים שָׁנָה אָנֹכִי הַיּוֹם לֹא אוּכַל עוֹד לָצֵאת וְלָבוֹא וַה’ אָמַר אֵלַי לֹא תַעֲבֹר אֶת הַיַּרְדֵּן הַזֶּה:

He said to them, I am today one hundred twenty years old. I am no longer able (permitted) to lead you, and HaShem has informed me that I will not cross over this River Jordan.

 Disappointment number two!

3- Moshe expected that his two sons Gershom and Eliezer would succeed him in leading the nation. But our parasha states (31:3):

ה’ אֱלֹהֶיךָ הוּא עֹבֵר לְפָנֶיךָ הוּא יַשְׁמִיד אֶת הַגּוֹיִם הָאֵלֶּה מִלְּפָנֶיךָ וִירִשְׁתָּם יְהוֹשֻׁעַ הוּא עֹבֵר לְפָנֶיךָ כַּאֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר ה’:

The Lord your God himself will cross over before you. He will destroy these nations before you, and you shall dispossess them. Yehoshua will cross over before you, as HaShem promised.

Yehoshua will succeed you, not your sons.

Disappointment number three!

4- Moshe expected that the millions of Jews who had become HaShem’s chosen nation through his leadership, guidance and education would forever cling to HaShem and the 613 mitzvot. But our parasha states (31,16):

HaShem said to Moshe: “Soon you will lie down with your ancestors. Then this people will begin to prostitute themselves to the foreign gods in the land into which they are going; they will forsake Me, breaking My covenant that I have made with them.”

All of Moshe’s teaching will be for naught. His life’s work: forty years of toil and heartbreak in order to raise the people from down-trodden slaves to the level of talmidei chachamim will all be erased.

Disappointment number 4!

In fact, of all the superior spiritual acts of Moshe nothing remained. Even after his death he will be far removed from the nation that he served and more than once saved from HaShem’s indignant, righteous wrath.

WHY? Why was Moshe punished with such great disappointment?

For this we have to return to parashat KI Tisa (in the Book of Shemot) to the episode following the Golden Calf, where Moshe appealed to HaShem to pardon the disastrous sin (33:18-23):

18 Moses said, “Please show me Your glory.” 19And He said, “I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you the name… 20 But, He said, you cannot see My face, for no one shall see Me and live.”  21And the Lord continued, “See, there is a place by Me where you shall stand on the rock, 22 and while My glory passes by I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and I will cover you with my hand until I have passed by; 23 then I will take away my hand, and you shall see my back, but my face shall not be seen.”

Moshe pleaded with HaShem to draw him close to the infinite entity called “HaShem” to reveal to Moshe that which no other creation including angels can ever strive for. But in order to have that privilege there would be a price. Moshe would have to share not only the intelligence of the Almighty but even His pain and sorrows (as it would be).

HaShem had great expectations from the Jewish nation. He brought the Egyptian monarchy down to its knees in order to free the Jewish slaves. However, eighty percent of them refused to leave. HaShem was greatly disappointed!

At Sinai HaShem presented to the nation His holy Torah and its regulations through great expectations of this nation’s future as a spiritual bond between worlds. However, the people very quickly disengaged themselves from the bond and worshipped the Golden Calf. A bitter disappointment for the Creator!

HaShem commanded the nation to enter the holy land; however, all six hundred thousand males refused because of the pessimistic report of the scouts. Another big disappointment!

The nation tested HaShem ten times in the desert experience, wavering between to believe or not to believe. And 40 years later, when right on the threshold of entering the land, many sinned with the daughters of Moav. A big disappointment!

HaShem tells Moshe that if you want to be close to Me then you will have to share My emotions – including the trauma from great expectations to great disappointments.

Moshe passed away but HaShem’s disappointments continued far into the future. The destruction of the two Batei Mikdash and the necessity to send the Jewish nation into exile.

The existential dilemma that faces Am Yisrael is to restore HaShem’s great expectations from His nation Yisrael.

How can we do it?

The answer is to demonstrate to HaShem through mesirat nefesh (self-sacrifice for Judaism) that we deserve His great hopes for our loyalty as His chosen people.

For 2000 years we experienced and overcame multiple tests of faith in the face of the oldest hatred in history – anti-Semitism.

Time after time we have proven that we want to be part of the age-old bond between HaShem and our fathers.

And after the Shoah our desire to return to our ancestral holy land is proof enough that we deserve HaShem’s great expectations that we can and will materialize the great potential inherent in the Jewish soul.

Today’s Medinat Yisrael will be the platform for the future Jewish redemption, with all that implies.

End of the Line — AMA Goes Woke

American Medical Association endorses horrific medical mutilations of children

In a shocking act of medical tyranny and authoritarianism, the American Medical Association is now demanding that the DOJ arrest and prosecute anyone who opposes surgical child mutilations carried out in US hospitals that fraudulent claim they are "affirming" a child's "gender identity" by maiming them with medical violence.

There is zero evidence that a child can consent to a genitalia mutilation procedure under the delusional fairy tale belief that a person can "change their gender" through the use of a scalpel.

We are watching crimes against humanity unfolding right before our very eyes, with the full blessing of both the AMA and the AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics), who are literally invoking the DOJ as a kind of "medical Gestapo" to silence anyone who opposes the violent mutilation of children.

Rebbetzin Tziporah (Heller) Gottlieb

Dear friends,

It’s here!!!!!

Yom Kippur is the best day of the year; it cleanses and leaves you with the potential to be the person you always wanted to be.

Rambam tells you that the Torah commandment of Tshuvah is confession to Hashem, which by its nature includes both regret for past wrongs and commitment to change. You can mistakenly think that it should sound something like this:

“I am a failure. The proof of who I am is what I do. After all, who did all this awful stuff, Oscar? Harry? No! it was me!” Followed by, “This is boring. I already said this. I said it several times this Yom Kippur, and that is without even remembering what I said last year. Promises made and forgotten. Why revisit the scene of the failure? It’s not going to happen. Okay. I’ll say it. It’s printed in the machzor. I don’t need more guilt. Here goes, “Ashamnu.” I was guilty. “Bagadnu” I was a traitor….”

Version 2

“You Hashem know me better than I know myself. You breathed something of You into me, and You made me live with my desires, my ravenous ego, and my impulsivity. You didn’t make a mistake when you made me with inborn love of everything that You hate. You made Tshuvah before You brought existence, as we know it, into being. You aren’t shocked by what we can become. You know that moral growth includes doing battle, and that returning is even nobler than never stumbling. The wise men I haven’t met put it into words. “Ashamnu” We (No! Not just me. All of us.) have been made desolate. What could have been full is empty. I will fill it! “Bagadnu” We were traitors. You give us so much! Just listen to what the anti-Semites say. “They dominate the world. They take over everything they touch.” Isn’t that how You made us? I want to use the desire to lead for the good. The desire to own to elevate the world that You gave us with Your signature intricacy and order. I will use what You poured into me for the good.

Version 3

“I know I can’t change on my own. The yetzer hara is an angel, and I am only a human. I implore you to help me. I know that You want to. I have no desire to return to the place of no return. The place where I was when I made blockages and walls when what I want more than anything is connection.

WHY FIVE TIMES?

Picture a domino five, One white dot in every corner of the black surface, and another white dot in the center. Each of the four dots is disconnected from any other dot. They are, however, equally close to the center dot.

FOUR COMPONENTS

The physical world is made from four basic compounds. Fire, water, earth and air. Each of them has a spiritual parallel, one that (like the physical compound) can be used for good or for the opposite.

Fire – passion, the energy you need to love, to be fully alive, to be dedicated. It rises by its nature to its source the way the soul by its nature reaches out to Hashem

Fire – the destructive passion that leads you to saying what you should never say, doing what you should never do, destroying what you love as easily as you destroy what you hate

Water – the flow from above to below that brings its nurture to everything that l lives

Water – the flow of nurture that you can easily turn inward and redefine nurture as self-indulgent treat after treat living in which there is neither real purpose nor even real pleasure

Earth – the resilient source of growth. Everyone steps on it, but it endures. Humble caring and always there

Earth – the passive unambitious voice of depression laziness and often a silent but hidden brand of despair

Air – the stuff that takes you above the earth, brings you to spiritual consciousness and makes you feel alive

Air – the escapist fantasy that tells you nothing matters

TURN FOUR INTO FIVE (HUH?)

You are a composite of all of the compounds. Whether they take you to version, one or version two is where free choice lives. The only real choice is whether you turn your nature towards Hashem, His will and His plan for you, or let it take on its own life, leading you further and further away.

If you can make time to read the confession today, and ask yourself what they say about the direction you may have chosen in the past, you may find yourself wanting a new direction. Telling Hashem that you want to redefine yourself (not recreate yourself – essentially the elements that make you yourself are where your highest potential lives), He will not only accept your Tshuvah, but He will help you to move beyond your present moment systematically.

You know the people who have done it. The famous baalei Tshuvah who used their talents and abilities in a new direction. The non-famous baale Tshuvah who turned ambition into kiruv, passion into tefillah, materialism into generous hospitality and more.

Have a gmar chatima tovah and enjoy every moment on the road.

Love,

Tziporah

YOUR NESHOMA

The following is from Toras Avigdor, Parshas Vayelech Shabbos Shiur, “The Gift of Teshuva”

. . .אֱלֹהַי נְשָׁמָה שֶׁנָּתַֽתָּ בִּי טְהוֹרָה הִיא

Now the neshamah is a difficult subject for us to grasp because it’s invisible.

For our modern minds, even frum minds, it’s not so real; because we believe in

things we see. ….

We think the body is something but actually it’s only a collection of gasses,

mostly gasses, and when the time comes it all dissipates into the air. You think the

body remains in the earth? Nothing ever remains in the earth. After a while the

body disintegrates into gasses and it is wafted away into the atmosphere. That’s the

body. It’s all imagination. כַּחֲלוֹם יָעוּף, it’s like a dream that passes away.

The neshamah however is real, infinitely more real than the body. It’s actually

a chelek Eloka mema’al, an emanation from Hashem, and so it’s more permanent

than anything else.

And therefore it is important for us to always speak to ourselves about the

great subject of our inner existence, what we really are. You are an entity that

transcends all physical existence. The body is not you. The time will come when

you’ll take off your suit of flesh and bones and leave it in the ground, in Beth David

Cemetery or wherever you bought yourself a plot, and it will begin to disintegrate.

But you will still be around because you are your neshamah, not your body.

Now, if a person is so careful about this body that will one day evaporate into

nothing – and he should be! – then how much more should he be interested in the

welfare of his neshamah! The soul is the most vulnerable and sensitive part of his

existence and the truth is that nothing in the world should interest him more than

that.

And therefore it pays for us to listen to what Rabbeinu Yonah says about sins

and the neshamah. He explains that like the body, the soul is subject to certain

maladies, diseases of its own kind, and when a man commits a sin he has actually

put a sickness into his neshamah.

[….]

All your days you’re demonstrating that you don’t believe in the existence of

the neshamah; you don’t really believe that the neshamah can be affected by

external conditions. And that’s serious business because the disease of the

neshamah is the most perilous of all illnesses, more serious, more fatal, than any

illness of the body. הַנֶּפֶשׁ הַחֹטֵאת הִיא תָמוּת– The sinful soul is going to die

(Yechezkel 18:4). Very many die in this world and those who don’t will find that

in the next world there is waiting for them even a worse kind of death. Absolutely,

sin is a cancer on the neshamah.

I always tell you this mashal. Suppose you are invited to a home to stay over

at night and they give you a bed. But underneath the bed sheet, on the mattress,

there is a bean. It’s only one little bean but as you are lying there you are aware of

it; that bean is pushing into you. It’s very uncomfortable; you can’t ignore a bean

that is lying underneath you on the bed.

That’s what a small sin is. It’s not something you can just forget about. It’s

there; it’s very uncomfortable. Only that it’s not a bean; it’s a pinpoint cancer that

is consuming the neshamah. There’s a cancerous splotch on his neshamah and if it’s

untreated then it spreads.

Don’t console yourself with the idea that it’s only words. It’s not just words. If

you could see your neshamah you would see that by putting something into your

mouth without a bracha, the neshamah immediately becomes splotched with

telltale dots of cancer. Who would be crazy enough to take a bowl of sulphuric acid

and eat it?

Now, once a person knows that sin means that there are tumors growing all

over the neshamah, chas v’shalom – tumors worse than cancer, more malignant,

more dangerous, more fatal – so you begin to understand the puzzle that our

kadmonim had. How is teshuvah going to erase that? Just by fulfilling the steps of

teshuvah, the neshamah will be healed? If you know what a sin is and what a

neshamah is, it sounds preposterous.

Imagine someone has cancer chas v’shalom in his liver, or in his lungs chas

v’shalom. Or a tumor on the brain. Ay yah yay! A tumor on the brain! You can’t just

wipe it away. So how can you undo a sin? If a man corrupted his neshamah and

introduced the fatal germs of sin and death into his soul, then how can you undo

that?

Can you say he never did it? He is sorry, ten times sorry, but it’s no use. A man

is dying of AIDS in the hospital; he is very sorry for the things he did that brought

him to this – what will it help him? Or he’s dying of cancer. He’s so sorry that he

smoked for all those years? The surgeon general warned him on every box, “You’ll

get cancer and emphysema and this and that” but he didn’t listen. Now he’s sorry?!

He wants to fulfill all the steps of teshuvah now. He regrets it. It pains him that he

smoked. He promises he won’t do it again. No, it won’t help. He’ll lay there in the

hospital dying anyhow.

And yet, for this cancer of the neshamah, for this fatal disease, something has

been discovered. Along comes Hashem, the great Rofei Cholim who heals all, and

He has invented a chessed called teshuvah.

That’s what Rabbeinu Yonah tells us in his Shaarei Teshuva, in the first chelek,

the first paragraph. “Among the benefits that Hashem Yisborach has bestowed upon

his creatures, one of the most precious is that we can heal our souls.” Hakodosh

Boruch Hu has given us all kinds of benefits – many of them we recognize, some we

don’t – but among the greatest of benefits is that He prepared for us a way by

which we can ascend from the pit into which we fell because of our misdeeds. He

gives us a path to flee from the trap of our actions.

That’s a tremendous kindness, a tremendous gift that Hakodosh Boruch Hu

invented, that it’s possible for us to undo our misdeeds. You can erase past history?!

It’s something we don’t understand. We say it but there is no logic to back it up; it

should be impossible to undo your misdeeds.

It’s a neis gadol! People are constantly getting themselves into all kinds of

trouble and their neshomos are diseased by their actions, and yet Hakodosh Boruch

Hu has given man ways of combating the sickness of his soul which he is causing

by his own deeds. He has provided us with means of protecting ourselves from the

final sentence of going down early to the grave and then being judged in the World

to Come, which is the worst of all misfortunes.

The Miracle Cure

So teshuvah is a miracle. A person can save himself by being sorry! A man sins

and because he regrets his misdeeds Hakodosh Boruch Hu makes a special

dispensation. He changes the course of the nature of the neshamah and He allows

this man to remove from his soul that blemish, that spot of cancer that was to him

a peril.

Of course, there are certain conditions to teshuvah – it’s not as simple as

superficially saying sorry – but the first thing is to realize what a great miracle that

is, to be capable of undoing the past, of wiping out what happened before. Don’t say

it’s simple. It’s only simple if you don’t know what a sin is, what a neshamah is.

And therefore it’s important to always remember what an opportunity it is

that we have. Hashem is willing to cure you and remove all the stains from your

souls. He’ll give you a clean neshamah, אֱלקַֹי נְשָׁמָה שֶׁנָּתַתָּ בִּי, like when you were born.

IT NEVER ENDS . . .Shooting attack in the Shomron

Reb Neuberger: OPEN LETTER TO THE NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

Distinguished Public Servants,

In the last chapter of our Holy Torah, which we read next week, it says that

“G-d presented His fiery Torah” to the Children of Israel at Mount Sinai. (Deuteronomy 33:2)

Through this Torah, which has been handed down from generation to generation, we –
the Children of Israel -- have brought the blessing of G-d to the entire world. As G-d said
to our Father Abraham, “I will bless those who bless you and him who curses you I will
curse. And all the families of the earth shall bless themselves by you.” (Genesis 12:3)

WITH RESPECT, I SAY TO YOU:

Our standards are the standards of the Torah which G-d presented to us at Mount Sinai.

Through this Torah we have brought the knowledge of G-d to all mankind:

the standards of morality, which have become the basis of all civilization, among them,

not to murder, not to steal, and to seek peace, the worship of G-d and the brotherhood of mankind.

These standards were promulgated to the entire world through our Torah, which has
become known as The Bible, the Five Books of Moses. This fiery Torah is the mainstay
of all earthly existence. It is this which we study in the holy yeshivos and Torah institutions

through which we perpetuate our heritage, the very heritage which sustains the entire world,

the world of all G-d fearing men and women, Jews and non-Jews alike.

Fire is a blessing but fire is also dangerous.

The Torah has warmed and illuminated all of mankind through its holiness. But fire is
deadly when out of control. Through our Torah study we have been taught to control
this fire so that it benefits mankind.

G-d forbid that the fire gets out of control.

The Prophet Malachi spoke about the end of history – our very days – when he said,
“Behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, when all the wicked people and all the
evildoers will be like straw, and that coming day will burn them up, Says G-d, Master of
Legions, so that it will not leave them a root or branch….” (Malachi 3:19)

With respect, I would suggest to the distinguished members of the New York State Government,

not to tamper with this Holy Fire. It is not yours and it is not ours,

but it is the Torah of G-d. Mark Twain once wrote:

"If the statistics are right, the Jews constitute but one quarter of one percent of the human race.  It suggests a nebulous puff of star dust lost in the blaze of the Milky Way.  Properly, the Jew ought hardly to be heard of, but he is heard of, has always been heard of.  He is as prominent on the planet as any other people, and his importance is extravagantly out of proportion to the smallness of his bulk. His contributions to the world’s list of great names in literature, science, art, music, finance, medicine, and abstruse learning are also very out of proportion to the weakness of his numbers.  He has made a marvelous fight in this world in all ages; and has done it with his hands tied behind him. He could be vain of himself and be excused for it.  The Egyptians, the Babylonians and the Persians rose, filled the planet with sound and splendor, then faded to dream-stuff and passed away; the Greeks and Romans followed and made a vast noise, and they were gone; other people have sprung up and held their torch high for a time but it burned out, and they sit in twilight now, and have vanished. The Jew saw them all, survived them all, and is now what he always was, exhibiting no decadence, no infirmities of age, no weakening of his parts, no slowing of his energies, no dulling of his alert but aggressive mind.  All things are mortal but the Jews; all other forces pass, but he remains.  What is the secret of his immortality?” (Harper’s Magazine, 1897)

The secret, of course, is the Torah.

And with respect, many have said, "Woe to the one who comes to tamper with it.”

This is also true of the holy institutions through which it is passed down to the next generation.

If you give honor to the Torah and its teachers, it will then be your blessing; it will sustain you.

But the Al-Mighty G-d does not look with favor on those who attempt to disturb His Words.

No nation which has attempted to disturb the ancient Jewish way of life has ever succeeded.

They may have caused temporary tribulations, even death and destruction;
they may have burned our Holy Temple and thrown our people into exile to the Four
Corners of the Earth, but they have never succeeded in extinguishing the Fire of Torah
and the life of those who uphold it, and their opposition to our holy way of life has
always, without fail, caused their own civilization to self-destruct.

One need only look to the Torah itself to see what happened when Pharaoh attempted
to inflict his way of life on our ancestors, to enslave them, to kill their children and erase
the traditions of our Fathers. The result of Pharaoh’s evil plan was the total destruction
of his Civilization. Ten Plagues destroyed it and his entire army was drowned in the Red
Sea … through which the Children of Israel walked triumphantly to freedom and to
Mount Sinai.

Pharaoh was the most powerful man on earth. His civilization was considered
impregnable, but it was blasted into nonexistence by the anger of G-d when Pharaoh
attempted to intimidate and enslave our ancestors. In the end, G-d will never tolerate
the intimidation of His Children. Go down through the ages. Where is Hitler today? He
killed himself in an underground bunker as his “Thousand Year Reich” burned and
crumbled into dust.

I wish for you a life of peace, honor and blessing which come to those who respect
the Fiery Torah given at Mount Sinai and those who teach it to our children. Those who
bless and protect the Children of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob will be blessed and protected.

With respect, Roy S. Neuberger

Shabbos Shuva Reading

First I read TORAS AVIGDOR on Teshuva in the portion for Vayelech and Shabbos Shuva. In a separate posting, entitled YOUR NESHOMA (soon), I have copied some important words to read.

§ § §

Next I spent nostalgic hours in my “Yiddishkeit” Magazine from years back, and especially a wonderful article about Genealogy, written by Rabbi Shmuel Gorr. This magazine is no longer in print, unfortunately, but it represented to me a link to “Real Judaism”, especially the articles of the Old Yishuv of Yerushalayim. I have collected some books about the Old Yishuv which I enjoy immensely reading.

Below is the First Installment of this article, and I hope you like it.

Reading this lead me to Divrei HaYamim, written by the famous EZRA and NEHEMIA. This huge book contains the genealogy from Adam HaRishon until after Shlomo HaMelech (or as far as Ezra and Nehemia could include). It contains the names, families, tribes of EVERYONE in the history of our 6000 Year World. I couldn’t get through all the pages, but it was fascinating.

We as a people have recorded many “Countings” of our Nation contained in the Torah/Gemorrah.

Rabbi Gorr immigrated to Eretz Yisrael in 1968 and lived in Yerushalayim. He founded the Jerusalem Research Institute for Jewish Genealogy, Kiryat Yovel. More info at https://www.iijg.org/resources/gorr-archive/

NEWS ALERT: TERROR ATTACK ON CHILDREN ON WAY TO ITAMAR

 Dearest Friends of Itamar:

This morning a bus that brings children, our grandson Shlomo being one them, from the nearby communities to the school in Elon More was shot on together with a taxi.

Another miracle!

Thank G-d the taxi driver was only slightly injured when the bus driver bravely shielded the taxi with his armored bus.

This incident is one of many recent terrorist shooting attacks that have been plaguing our area. The attack took place right outside of Itamar in the same place that the Henkins were murdered on Succoth some years ago.

As the day of Atonement approaches, please have your brothers and sisters in Israel in mind. We must not let these evil doers succeed in weakening our grip on the land of Israel.

We will continue to grow, thrive, and fulfill prophecy in our promised land forever! Amen Any one interested in sending their customed Kapparot to Friends of Itamar can do so via this link https://touritamarsupportisrael.com/itamar-news/

MORE INFO:

A shooting attack occurred on Sunday morning in the Shomron when Arabs opened fire on a school bus and a taxi between Alon Moreh and the PA town of Beit Furik, near Shechem.

A bullet hit the windshield of the bus, which was full of children, but b’chasdei Hashem, no one was injured

An Israeli taxi driver in his 40s who was on his way to pick up special needs children and transport them to school was lightly injured after a bullet grazed his shoulder. He managed to continue driving to a nearby army base and was treated by IDF medics.

The taxi driver, a father of six, later said that it was a neis that the bulletproof bus protected him by allowing him to pass. He added that there are usually IDF soldiers stationed near the area where the attack occurred but they weren’t there on Sunday morning when the attack occurred. “The government is forsaking us,” he said.

A video of the attack on the bus, which was recorded from afar by Palestinians, can be seen below:

Security officials from the Shomron Regional Council and IDF soldiers rushed to the scene and launched a manhunt for the terrorists, closing nearby checkpoints. IDF soldiers who entered the village of Beit Furik to search for suspects came under live fire by local Arabs.

The “Lion’s Den” terror squad, which operates in the Shechem area and has claimed responsibility for many attacks in recent weeks, claimed responsibility for Sunday’s attack, stating that “we located a bus of settlers near the Alon Moreh checkpoint and then shot at it. Our operatives retreated safely.”

“Another serious incident that ended almost miraculously,” said Yossi Dagan, the head of the Shomron Regional Council. “This government is abandoning its residents to a terror wave fueled by the Palestinian Authority. This government refuses to recognize reality, refuses to launch Operation Protective Wall 2, refuses to confiscate weapons, refuses to return the checkpoints.”

“We see terror attack after terror attack. The writing is on the wall and it’s bloody. There are shooting incidents and injured people here day after day. I call on the government to come to its senses and announce a widespread operation to thwart the terrorist infrastructure in Yehudah and Shomron. Stop abandoning the residents of the Shomron and the rest of Israel to this wave of terror.”

Religious Zionist Party chairman Betzalel Smotrich responded to the attack by stating: “Under the auspices of a transitional prime minister who resumes discussion of a Palestinian state and a failed defense minister who is a prisoner of the Oslo concept, a dangerous security escalation has been taking place in Yehudah and Shomron in recent months on a scale not seen for many years. We’re amid a third intifada. The residents of the yishuvim are returning to a situation in which their lives are hefker.”

“Gantz and Lapid are tying the hands of the IDF and refusing to allow it to launch a large-scale operation to restore security and eradicate terrorism in northern Shomron. Soon, b’ezrat Hashem, a national government will be established that will protect the lives of the citizens of Israel and restore security and national pride,” he asserted.

Why is Project HAARP so controversial?

HAARP is a magnet for the conspiracy theorists who claim it can control the weather, create earthquakes, disrupt worldwide communications and control peoples minds.

So how did a research project into the ionosphere turn to this super machine?.

In this video, we'll look at what HAARP really is and why it has become so controversial.
