The Shin Bet and Israel Police have thwarted a deadly terror plot in the Old City of Yerushalayim, with a severe indictment filed against a 19-year-old resident of Beit Hanina.
According to the investigation, the suspect planned to detonate a bomb at Lions’ Gate and then open fire on Jews and police officers on Har HaBayis, aiming to kill as many people as possible before escaping.
Investigators say the suspect conducted reconnaissance for approximately two years, including during Friday prayers, mapping the locations of security cameras and forces in the area.
He allegedly sought to obtain weapons through the dark web and trained in martial arts as a backup plan.
The suspect confessed to investigators that he decided to carry out the attack after watching footage of the October 7 massacre.
