King of Kings, the Holy One, Blessed be He, loves the Jews who live in the Land of Israel, and it hurts him for the Jews who live outside the Land of Israel and do not immigrate to the Land of Israel. 

The Holy One, Blessed is He, raises a high threshold and increases the complications and problems in all the countries of the world, apart from the holy and pure land of Israel where the Jews live. The Holy One, Blessed be He, says: "In the Holy Land of Israel, nothing will happen! The most protected place in the world is [the] Holy Land, the best place in the world is the Holy Land! ‘

The Creator confuses Syria, Hizbullah and Lebanon, the Kurds and the rebels, the Jordanians within themselves and Turks within themselves, Iraq, Iran and all of Europe from the Holy Blessing. 

Gog and Magog - outside the borders of the Land of Israel. Chaos - outside the borders of the Land of Israel. Read well, listen carefully: it will be strengthened by great and powerful powers that were not before, so that the whole world will know that they are not dealing with the Holy Land! The Land of Israel is the Holy Land of the Holy One, Blessed be He, and of the people of Israel.

The Holy One, Blessed be He, promised and [will] promised that nothing will happen to the Land of Israel, no harm and nothing bad. There will be natural disasters, volcanic eruptions and fires, floods, tsunamis, earthquakes, diseases, inter-aircraft collisions, ship collisions, airway complications, collisions between trains, animals confused by sea, land and air.

All Knesset members and ministers will be united and unified, with no interest in yourselves, but only for the Land of Israel and the people of Israel! Heaven forbid, compare the Holocaust to infiltrators or anything else that happens. The infiltrators must leave the Land of Israel, according to the law, and return to their countries. This is not a decree from Heaven.

The US and Russia love Israel quietly and secretly, so as not to lose arms sales to Arab countries.

Trump does not reckon with anyone, he is guided from above and comes to wake up all the Jews in Israel and abroad. He fought in public and with great joy. He cares so much about the Land of Israel, he loves the Holy Land so much, he cares so much about Jerusalem, he is so concerned about continuing to develop the Land of Israel, so he makes sure that the Jews will immigrate from the world to the Land of Israel. 

The Holy One, Blessed be He, says to everyone: Trump is an example to all the world, for all his concern for the Holy Land, that Trump knows that the Holy Land is the source of the blessing of the whole world and those who will deal with the Land of Israel, All the curses and the ten plagues of Egypt shall apply to them.

Muslim Arabs eat all of Europe, eat the same animal. They want to kill all Christians and rule Europe. At the same time, they will take the daughters of Jews who live in Europe and everywhere, except for the Land of Israel, to settle there. They'll be thrown out of their homes very soon, very soon. It's no laughing matter, wake up Jews! Before you find yourself on the street.

Hamas continues to dig tunnels at the rate of fire, digging, digging, digging. Hamas, the Palestinians, the Jihad and all the gangs in the Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem are all in one hand. The Holy One, Blessed be He, is hardening the hearts of the Syrians, the Turks, the Hizbullah, the Kurds and the rebels, so that they will be united forever [which will be shared between them], so that they will not interfere with the holy Land of Israel.

In Teheran, the demonstrators are multiplying and going out all over Iran to give freedom and freedom[liberty]  to all Iranians, to overthrow the regime that wants to bring about disaster and to destroy Iran from the face of the earth. The good citizens of Iran want to live, do not want wars, they want to live in peace with the whole world. Turkey:  the Holy One, Blessed be He, gave to Erdogan his mind that he would fight in Syria with the Kurds, the rebels and the Hizbullah, to have a Gog and Magog there.

Jordan: there is no brain and no power. They are fed up with the refugees and the infiltrators who eat Jordan [alive], do not know how to get rid of them. waiting. There will be no Palestinian state.

Egypt:  Sisi wants to prove that he is a strong president and anyone who wants to compete with him is gone. Sisi does not know enough that the extremists want to kill him urgently. If he does not maintain his status and if he is not at peace with the Israeli government, he will not survive.

Hezbollah and Nasrallah, chirping [tweeting] each time, threatening and entering his bunker. Soon the Holy One, Blessed be He, will give him a hard blow forever. The Mossad, the Shin Bet security service and the IDF monitor all the ammunition coming from Iran and other places and bomb it in a way that will not reach Hezbollah.

Abu Mazen, in fear and panic, became confused. He thought that if he yelled and cried and spoke falsely, they would say, 'What a sweet[heart] he is.' No one believes him. Everyone sees the forgery and his lies, and every country has its own troubles.

The Holy One, Blessed be He, says to the Jews in the Land of Israel:  "Please, stop the demonstrations between Jews. This causes free hatred and nothing comes of it. Let the courts judge in the best way, let the law act. The Holy One, Blessed be He, hates demonstrations by Jews with Jews.

Parents, keep your children from gambling, drugs, alcohol and assimilation. Save as much as possible.

The Creator of the Universe says to the people of Israel: Please keep the Shabbat as it is. Shabbat is the source of life and blessing. When they do not play a ball on Saturday, the team will have a blessing and success all over the world. When you desecrate Shabbat, lose soccer and lose in restaurants, every business that works on Shabbat loses. 

The Creator of the universe worked for six days, and on the Sabbath day "he breathed [rested]“, [and everything ceased] stopped everything and rested. The Creator of the world wants his children to rest on Shabbat and give them a blessing for the entire week. 

Rain will continue to rain [fall] in the Holy Land of Israel, even though there is heat and say it will be hot, the Holy One, Blessed be He, will bring rain after the heat. It will continue to rain and the Jewish people will be very happy. In Israel everything is plentifully abundant. 

Jews, all the righteous Jews who die of the world in the holy Land of Israel and go up to the heavens, give power from heaven here down to the Land of Israel, join another power in the sky and all together in prayer to the Holy One, Blessed be He, that Messiah will be revealed in public soon. The Baba Sali is in heaven in a cave with all the righteous, gathering in the cave and praying to the Creator, to the Holy One, Blessed be He, for the revelation of Moshiach in public. 

Moshiach helps the people of Israel, protects the people of Israel and every day more and more men and women maintain their understanding of what Mashiach is. See that everything happens in the world and know what Geula and Mashiach is. Mashiach continues to act and work to save the people of Israel day and night. The Holy One, Blessed be He, guides him to save Israel. The Holy One, Blessed be He, says to the people of Israel – "There are no deterrants, and there is no turning back the revelation of King Mashiach in public!"

מלך מלכי המלכים, הקדוש-ברוך-הוא אוהב את היהודים שגרים בארץ ישראל, וכואב לו על היהודים שגרים מחוץ לארץ ישראל ולא עולים לארץ ישראל. הקדוש-ברוך-הוא מַעֲלֶה רף גבוה ומגביר את הסיבוכים והבעיות בכל מדינות העולם, חוץ מארץ ישראל הקדושה והטהורה שגרים בה היהודים. אומר הקדוש-ברוך-הוא: 'בארץ ישראל הקדושה, לא יִקרה כלום! המקום הכי מוגן בעולם זו ארץ ישראל הקדושה, המקום הכי טוב בעולם זו ארץ הקודש!’.

בורא עולם מסבך את סוריה, חיזבאללה ולבנון, את הכורדים והמורדים, את הירדנים בתוך עצמם והתורכים בתוך עצמם, את עיראק, איראן ואת כל אירופה מסבך הקדוש-ברוך-הוא. גוג ומגוג - מחוץ לגבולות ארץ ישראל. תוהו ובוהו - מחוץ לגבולות ארץ ישראל. תקראו טוב, תקשיבו טוב: זה יתחזק בעוצמות גדולות ואדירות שלא היו לפני כן, כדי שיידעו כל העולם שלא מתעסקים עם ארץ הקודש! ארץ ישראל זו אדמתו הקדושה של הקדוש-ברוך-הוא ושל עם ישראל. כל ארץ או מדינה, קבוצת בני אדם, אגודה או עמותה כלשהן בעולם, שרוצות לפגוע ולקחת חלקים מארץ ישראל - יהרסו ויתפרקו לחלקים חלקים ויהיו להן אסונות כבדים. בורא עולם אומר להם: 'נגמרו המשחקים! כל מדינות העולם יתכופפו וישתחוו לארץ ישראל הקדושה, כולם יתהפכו לטובת ארץ ישראל הקדושה וכולם ירצו לעזור לארץ ישראל הקדושה! או בכוח או במוח – כולם יבצעו את דְבר ה’!’

הקדוש-ברוך-הוא הבטיח ומבטיח – לא יִקרה לארץ ישראל כלום, שום נזק ושום דבר רע. בעולם יהיו אסונות טבע, התפרצויות הרי געש ושריפות, שיטפונות, צונאמי, רעידות אדמה, מחלות, התנגשויות בין מטוסים, התנגשויות בין אוניות, סיבוכים בנתיבי טיסה, התנגשויות בין רכבות, בעלי חיים יתבלבלו בים, ביבשה ובאוויר.

כל חברי הכנסת והשרים תהיו מלוכדים ומאוחדים, ללא שום אינטרס לעצמכם, אלא אך ורק לארץ ישראל ולעם ישראל! אסור חס ושלום, להשוות את השואה למסתננים או לכל דבר אחר שקורה. המסתננים צריכים לעזוב את ארץ ישראל, על-פי החוק ולחזור לארצותיהם, זו לא גזֵירה משמיים.

ארה"ב ורוסיה מתחרות ביניהן. רוסיה אוהבת את ישראל בשקט ובסתר, כדי שלא תפסיד את מכירת הנשק למדינות ערב.

טראמפ לא עושה חשבון לאף אחד, הוא מודרך מלמעלה ובא להעיר את כל היהודים בארץ ובעולם. הוא נלחם בפרהסיה ובשמחה גדולה מאוד. כל כך דואג לארץ ישראל, כל כך אוהב את אדמת הקודש, כל כך דואג לירושלים, כל כך דואג להמשיך לפתח את ארץ ישראל, כל כך דואג שיעלו היהודים מהעולם לארץ ישראל. הקדוש-ברוך-הוא אומר לכולם: טראמפ דוגמא לכל העולם, על כל הדאגה שלו לארץ הקודש, כי טראמפ יודע שארץ הקודש ארץ ישראל, היא מקור הברכה של כל העולם ומי שיתעסק עם ארץ ישראל, להרע לארץ ישראל לאדמת הקודש, אדם או מדינה - יחולו עליהם כל הקללות וכל עשרת מכות מצרים.

הערבים המוסלמיים אוכלים את כל אירופה, אוכלים אותה חיה. רוצים להרוג את כל הנוצרים ולשלוט באירופה. במקביל, ייקחו את בתֵי היהודים שגרים באירופה ובכל מקום, חוץ מארץ ישראל, להתיישב בהם. יזרקו אותם מהבתים בקרוב מאוד, בקרוב מאוד. זה לא צחוק, תתעוררו יהודים! לפני שתמצאו את עצמכם ברחוב.

בסוריה לא יעזור כלום ולא יהיה פתרון לעולם. הקדוש-ברוך-הוא מקשה את ליבם של הסורים, כדי שימשיכו במלחמות. הקדוש-ברוך-הוא מקשה את ליבם של הסורים, התורכים, החיזבאללה, הכורדים והמורדים, כדי שייחלמו ביניהם עד אין-סוף, בכדי שלא יפריעו לארץ ישראל הקדושה.

בטהרן המפגינים והמפגינות מתרבים ומתרבים ויוצאים בגדול בכל איראן, כדי לתת חופש וחירות לכל אזרחי איראן, להפיל את המשטר שרוצה להביא לאסון ולהשמיד את איראן מעל פני כדור הארץ. אזרחי איראן הטובים רוצים לחיות, לא רוצים מלחמות, הם רוצים לחיות בשלום עם כל העולם. השלטון האיראני, ייפול ויתרסק בזמן הקרוב, ימשיך לקבל מכות קשות, את עשרת המכות מהקדוש-ברוך-הוא.

תורכיה, הקדוש-ברוך-הוא נתן לארדואן במוחו שילחם בסוריה עם הכורדים, המורדים והחיזבאללה, שיהיה להם שם גוג ומגוג.

ירדן, אין מוח ואין כוח. נמאס להם מהפליטים ומהמסתננים שאוכלים את ירדן חיה, לא יודעים איך להיפטר מהם. מחכים. לא תקום מדינה פלסטינית.

מצרים, סיסי רוצה להוכיח שהוא נשיא חזק וכל מי שרוצה להִתחרות בו - נעלם. סיסי לא יודע מספיק שהקיצוניים רוצים לחסל אותו דחוף. אם לא ישמור על מעמדו ואם לא יהיה בשלום עם ממשלת ישראל, לא יחזיק מעמד.

חיזבאללה ונסראללה, מצייץ כל פעם, מאיים ונכנס בחזרה לבונקר שלו. בקרוב הקדוש-ברוך-הוא ייתן לו מכה קשה לעולמים.

המוסד, השב"כ וצה"ל, עוקבים אחרי כל תחמושת שמגיעה מאיראן וממקומות אחרים ומפוצצים אותה בדרך, שלא תגיע לחיזבאללה.

אבו מאזן בפחד ובפאניקה, נהיה מבולבל. חשב שאם יצעק ויבכה וידבר בזיוף, יגידו 'איזה מתוק הוא'. אף אחד לא מאמין לו. כולם רואים את הזיוף ואת השקרים שלו, ולכל מדינה יש את הצרות שלה.

הקדוש-ברוך-הוא אומר ליהודים בארץ ישראל: בבקשה מכם, להפסיק את ההפגנות בין היהודים. זה גורם לשנאת חינם ולא יוצא מזה כלום. לתת לבתי המשפט לשפוט בדרך הטובה, תנו לחוק לפעול. הקדוש-ברוך-הוא שונא הפגנות של יהודים עם יהודים.

הורים, לשמור על ילדיכם מהימורים, סמים, שתיה חריפה והתבוללות. כמה שאפשר להציל - להציל.

ימשיך לרדת גשם בארץ ישראל הקדושה, למרות שיש חום ואמרו שיהיה חם, הקדוש-ברוך-הוא יביא גשם אחרי החום. ימשיך לרדת גשם ותהיה שמחה גדולה בעם ישראל. בישראל הכל בשפע עד בלי די.

יהודים, כל הצדיקים היהודים שנפטרים מן העולם בארץ ישראל הקדושה ועולים למעלה לשמיים, נותנים כוח מהשמיים פה למטה לארץ ישראל, מצטרף עוד כוח בשמיים וכולם ביחד בתפילה לקדוש-ברוך-הוא, שמשיח יתגלה בפרהסיה, בקרוב מיד. הבבא סאלי נמצא בשמיים במערה עם כל הצדיקים, מתקבצים כולם במערה ומתפללים לבורא עולם, לקדוש-ברוך-הוא, לגילוי משיח בפרהסיה.

משיח עוזר לעם ישראל, מגן על עם ישראל וכל יום מתחזקים עוד אנשים ונשים שמבינים מה זה משיח. רואים שהכל קורה בעולם ויודעים מה זה גאולה ומשיח. משיח ממשיך לפעול ולעבוד, להציל את עם ישראל יום ולילה. הקדוש-ברוך-הוא מנווט אותו להצלת ישראל. הקדוש-ברוך-הוא אומר לעם ישראל – 'אין מעצורים, ואין דרך חזרה להתגלות מלך המשיח בפרהסיה!'

Israel's Black Goats

The Strange Second Life of Israel's Black Goats

A 70-year-old law has been reversed, clearing the way for grazing ‘kids' to play in the dirt again.

They were banned in 1950

Thought to cause environmental damage, the goats were barred from forests and woodlands after a law passed in 1950. Their intensive grazing was believed to stimulate biodiversity loss. Other countries in the Mediterranean imposed similar legislation on the black goat species.

Not surprisingly, the ban led to a decrease in the population of black goats, who go by the scientific name of Capra hircus. By some estimates, their number has fallen from 15,000 45 years ago to around 2,000 today.

The ban has just been repealed

Last week, Israel began the repeal of the law that limited the black goats. They are joining other countries in the area to reintroduce them. The goat population is expected to prosper, which, we're told, is udder-ly fantastic news. Turns out, they're good for the environment. Though the original law restricted them to reduce harm to forests and other wooded areas, recent studies have shown that these goats are actually beneficial. Their grazing would thin out undergrowth that can fuel devastating forest fires. By eating dry, flammable bushes and shrubs, the goats can help reduce the risk of fire. Now that's something to be thankful for.

ALSO: From Haaretz 11/2017: Israels Cabinet is backing efforts to reintroduce the black goat, also known as the Syrian goat, into the countrys forests, woodlands and nature reserves as a way to regulate natural vegetation and prevent forest fires after banning them from grazing there almost 70 years ago for being harmful for the growth of forests and fauna. The Ministerial Committee for Legislation agreed to a repeal of the 1950 Plant Protection Law, also known as the Goat Damage law that defines the goat as harmful to forests and woodlands.

AND: Grazing (Milking) Goats: The Ramat Hanadiv herd, which grazes for four hours a day on natural pasture, is comprised of Baladi goats, Shami goats and goats that are a hybrid of Alpine goats – which have a relatively high milk yield – and the two local varieties. The mothers teach the offspring what not to eat and whats okay to eat, and when – and the key parameter isnt genetics, its their environmental education. If the mother grazed here in the park, shell pass on that knowledge to her offspring. Thats why its very important for the young goats to go out to pasture with the mothers, explains Landau. Moshe Shachar is detained for questioning in the Shai Unit, the official cause: suspicion of violating one of the administrative restrictions imposed on him. Moshe already has a 3-year seniority in administrative orders. Friends he had been forbidden to talk to for more than two and a half years, and long periods when he was not allowed to leave the house in the early evening.

Moshe was released just a few weeks ago from a three-month detention was filmed after [eating] pizza (!) with his friends. He immediately received an even more serious order as a revenge step, against a process of protest in the administrative orders that led to other youths refusing to be released, than to submit to the dictates of the administrative orders - a move that put the system under pressure and led to a certain reduction in the number of administrative orders.

This time it appears to be a routine investigation, but at the end of the investigation Harel Goldstein, a notorious interrogator who is responsible for the attacks on many Jews, enters and presents himself in his new role as an intelligence officer in the "Nationalist Crime" division of the בימ"ר ש"י.

He begins with what appears to be a routine warning and threats message, but suddenly he reaches out to Moshe and tells him if you shake my hand now and agree to cooperate - the administrative orders will be over, but if not - we will neutralize you …

Moshe did not shake his hand, and he was released a few hours later.













Two weeks ago...

Moshe Shachor was arrested at the entrance to Beit Orot on the Mount of Olives. A police detective says that a few hours earlier he entered the beit midrash and saw him studying in Havruta (!) with Binyamin - a good friend who is on his contact list. Studying Torah ... The judge managed to send Moshe Ben Rivka to detention until the end of proceedings, and he is now in Ayalon Prison.

It's hard to believe that this story will bother anyone, no one cares about the bullying that is being waged against the hilltop boys. Even shocking stories from these, were received in silence, if not with gloating among the settlers, comfortable with them as long as it does not reach them. The members of the Knesset of the Jewish Home enjoy moving from the side of the persecuted to the side of the pursuers, and we have no one to rely on but our Father in heaven.

But even when we do not know exactly how to help, it is important to identify with our friend Moshe Ben Rivka, who is in detention in order to frighten all of us - that we will not dare to protest that we will not dare to dream.

We will continue to struggle, we will continue to rise up and we will not forget and we will not forgive.

לפני כ-3 חודשים...

משה שחור מעוכב לחקירה בימ"ר ש"י, העילה הרשמית: חשד להפרת אחד מצווי ההגבלה המנהליים שהוטלו עליו. למשה כבר ותק של 3 שנים בצווים מנהליים, צו נגמר ומיד מגיע צו חדש. חברים שאסור לו לדבר איתם כבר למעלה משנתיים וחצי, ותקופות ארוכות שבהם אסור לו לצאת מהבית משעות הערב המוקדמות.

משה השתחרר רק לפני שבועות ספורים ממעצר של 3 חודשים, לאחר שצולם אוכל פיצה (!) יחד עם חבריו, ומיד קיבל צו חדש חמור עוד יותר, כצעד של נקמה, על מהלך מחאה בצווים המנהליים שהוביל כשצעירים נוספים סירבו להשתחרר והודיעו שהם מעדיפים להישאר בכלא, מאשר להיכנע לתכתיבי הצווים המנהליים – מהלך שהכניס את המערכת ללחץ, והביא לירידה מסוימת בכמות הצווים המנהליים.

הפעם זו לכאורה חקירה שגרתית, אלא שבסיום החקירה נכנס הראל גולדשטיין – חוקר ידוע לשמצה, שאחראי לפגיעה ביהודים רבים, ומציג את עצמו בתפקידו החדש – קצין מודיעין במחלק ל"פשיעה לאומנית" בימ"ר ש"י. הוא מתחיל במה שנראה כשיחת אזהרה ואיומים שגרתית, אלא שלפתע הוא מושיט יד למשה, ואומר לו אם תלחץ לי יד כעת ותסכים לשיתוף פעולה – יגמרו הצווים המנהליים, אבל אם לא – נדאג לנטרל אותך...  

משה לא לחץ את היד, והוא שוחרר כעבור מספר שעות.

לפני שבועיים...

משה שחור נעצר ביציאה מישיבת בית אורות בהר הזיתים, בלש משטרתי טוען שכמה שעות קודם נכנס לבית המדרש וראה אותו לומד בחברותא (!) עם בנימין – חבר טוב שנמצא ברשימת איסורי יצירת הקשר שלו, אין אפילו תמונה, אבל עדותו של השוטר שתפס אותו על חם לומד תורה... הספיקה לשופט לשלוח את משה בן רבקה למעצר עד לתום ההליכים, והוא נמצא כעת בכלא איילון.

קשה להאמין שהסיפור הזה יפריע למישהו, לאיש לא אכפת מהבריונות שמופעלת כנגד נערי הגבעות. גם סיפורים מזעזעים מאלו, התקבלו בשתיקה, אם לא בשמחה לאיד אצל ציבור המתיישבים, נוח להם עם זה כל עוד זה לא מגיע אליהם. חברי הכנסת של הבית היהודי נהנים לעבור מהצד של הנרדפים לצד של הרודפים, ואין לנו על מי להישען אלא על אבינו שבשמים.

אבל גם כשאנחנו לא יודעים בדיוק כיצד אפשר לעזור, חשוב להזדהות עם חברנו משה בן רבקה שנמצא במעצר כדי להפחיד את כולנו - שלא נעיז למחות, שלא נעיז להתקומם על ההפקרות וסתימת הפיות, שלא נעיז לחלום. ואת זה דווקא אנחנו נעשה נמשיך לחלום, נמשיך להיאבק, נמשיך להתקומם ולא נשכח ולא נסלח.

The Torah’s inner dimension teaches us that, surprisingly, the vessel containing the light actually emanates from a higher level than the light it contains. The Zohar states, “The source of the vessels is higher than that of the lights.” Above and beyond the Divine light revealed during the Exodus and the Giving of the Torah lies the source of the vessels, which from our physical perspective appears absolutely dark. The reason for this is only because it is higher and more spiritual than the lights themselves. This source is referred to in Kabbalah as “supernal darkness,” not because it is inherently dark, but because it is so spiritual that we cannot perceive its highly illuminated state. It is from this level of supernal darkness that the vessels descend into our reality, so that we can integrate the light through their existence.

The 613 mitzvot are the only vessels that can contain the great spiritual lights of the Revelation at Mt. Sinai
The past few portions of the week are replete with wondrous miracles. In Parashat Bo we read about the plague of the firstborns and the Exodus from Egypt; in Parashat Beshalach, we read about the Splitting of the Red Sea; and now, in Parashat Yitro, we reach the biggest miracle of all: the revelation of the Torah at Mt. Sinai.

At the Exodus from Egypt we are taught that, “The King of Kings, the Holy One, blessed be He, revealed Himself and redeemed them”; at the sea, “A maidservant at the sea saw what the Prophets did not see,” and the entire Jewish people exclaimed, “This is my God, and I will beautify Him.” But, it was only at the Revelation at Mt. Sinai that the entire Jewish people attained the level of prophecy, so much so that “All the people saw the sounds.” At Mt. Sinai, God removed the veil of nature that hides His Divine light, and revealed Himself to us by giving us His essence—the Torah.

Each miracle of the Redemption was also accompanied by new commandments. In Parashat Bo, the plague of the Egyptian firstborns and the Exodus were accompanied by the mitzvot of sanctifying the New Moon and all the laws relating to the Passover sacrifice. In Parashat Beshalach, immediately after the Splitting of the Red Sea, the verse states, “There He gave them statute and law.” Rashi elucidates that this refers to the mitzvot of Shabbat, the Red Heifer and other laws. At the Revelation at Mt. Sinai we heard the Ten Commandments, and “Moses received the Torah at Sinai,” including all the 613 mitzvot that the Jewish people are required to observe.

Lights and Vessels
The relationship between the miracles of Divine revelation and the Torah’s commandments can be explained using a basic pair of Kabbalistic concepts: lights and vessels.

As mentioned above, every miracle is a revelation of Divine light, a lightning bolt that flashes into reality to illuminate our souls. Even today, thousands of years later, the Exodus from Egypt and the Giving of the Torah illuminate us with their light, and “In every generation one is obliged to see oneself as if they themselves left Egypt.” Similarly, we are commanded to recall on a daily basis the Exodus from Egypt, the Splitting of the Red Sea and the Giving of the Torah. As explained in the previous article on Parashat Beshalach, we experience these great lights every day anew in our morning prayers.

But, without a vessel to contain it, light is prone to disperse until nothing remains of its great potential. Creating an appropriate vessel to collect the tremendous energy released, guards it so that we can benefit from it. This is why we need the mitzvot, which allow us to integrate the light at every stage of the proceedings. Following this reasoning, the sages state that in order to redeem the Jewish people from Egypt, God gave them the commandment of the Passover sacrifice and had them circumcise themselves—otherwise the light of redemption would not have been properly integrated in their souls.

A similar need arose after the Splitting of the Red Sea. As they left the shores of the Red Sea, the Jewish people arrived at Marah, where they could not find drinking water. The name Marah literally means “bitter,” which not only illustrates the fact that the only water to be found was undrinkable, but is also a reference to the psychological bitterness that accompanied the spiritual nose-dive that followed their climactic experience at the Red Sea. Psychologically speaking, this type of bitterness often results after the energy accompanying a spiritual high disperses, and we are left with nothing more than the drudgery of everyday life, leaving us with a bitter taste that can sometimes lead to full-blown depression. To alleviate the bitterness that ensues and to sweeten it, we need to occupy ourselves with new Torah insights.

At Mt. Sinai, the revelation was so powerful that the people were unable to bear it, so much so that they entreated Moses, “You speak to us and we will hear, but let God not speak to us, lest we die.” According to the sages, with every commandment they heard from God, their souls departed from their bodies. The spiritual light that descended to the world at the Revelation at Mt. Sinai was so great that most of it dispersed immediately and could not be integrated. The only way we can contain that enormous energy is by keeping the mitzvot, which are the most appropriate vessels for Divine energy.

613 Candles, One Great Light
Another way to describe the relationship between lights and vessels is to see them as general rules, and details, respectively. The light revealed at Mt. Sinai constitutes the general rule, while the 613 mitzvot are the abundance of details that contain it, as the verse states, “For a mitzvah is a candle and the Torah is light.” Every commandment is a candle; a well-defined vessel into which the Torah’s great light can be integrated.

But, the commandments with their myriad details and precise requirements, are liable to appear to us as “dark” and detached from the great spiritual light of God’s Revelation. Indeed, some people make it their task to search for that original light by constantly seeking new and exhilarating spiritual experiences, and they find it difficult to comprehend why we need the mitzvot at all. What purpose does the vast world of halachah (Jewish law) serve us in our quest for spirituality? A common mistake is to believe that we can experience Jewish spirituality better by singing songs with friends while strumming on guitar strings than, for example, by keeping Shabbat according to the Shulchan Aruch. But the truth is that here in our mundane, materialistic world we need an abundance of mitzvot to contain the light. They are the only appropriate vessels to integrate it into physicality, which is God’s ultimate purpose in revealing His essence to us.

In the words of the Zohar, the 613 mitzvot are 613 pieces of “advice.” Just as appropriate practical advice can aid an individual in a moment of distress, so too every mitzvah is a vessel that contains light like no other mitzvah. If you want to find the lights that illuminate reality, just calculate the value of the word “lights” (אוֹרוֹת) and you will find that it is 613, the exact number of mitzvot in the Torah. Meaning that if you are looking for spiritual “lights” the place to find them is in the Torah’s 613 mitzvot!

Using this reasoning, we can explain another issue discussed in Chassidut—the relationship between the service of the Patriarchs, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and the Giving of the Torah. The sages teach that each of us should ask ourselves, “When will my deeds reach the level of the deeds of my forefathers, Abraham Isaac and Jacob.” If that is our goal, can’t we reach the ultimate level of serving God without Torah and mitzvot, like the forefathers did before the Torah was given? How can we expect to outshine our holy forefathers by keeping mitzvot that they did not keep?

The answer is that the Patriarchs had abundant spiritual lights but insufficient vessels to contain them. Even the sages’ statement that the forefathers observed the entire Torah refers to the abstract-spiritual aspect of the mitzvot, and not necessarily to their observance as we keep them. At their high level of spirituality, the forefathers lived as if they were already in the World to Come, in which “the righteous sit basking in the light of the Divine Presence,” without observing Torah and mitzvot. In contrast to the forefathers who lived in the spiritual realms, in order to draw light into our very physical world, we need Torah and mitzvot as vessels to contain it. This was the great innovation of the Giving of the Torah that gave us all the opportunity to experience spirituality through our service of God.

Dark Treasures
In spite of all we have explained, the vessels still appear more lowly and mundane than the lights. The mundane reality of routine mitzvah observance appears far less inspiring than the spiritual fireworks that we experienced at Sinai. Nonetheless, since we are at such a low level of physical reality, and Divine light is so spiritual and supernal, we need to practice the mitzvot—which at face value appear as dark and physical as we are. They act as an intermediary to allow us to capture the light, contain it, and integrate it into reality.

We are familiar with physical reality, which appears dark to us because it is the lowest of the low, far below any Divine light. But there is also supernal darkness which, from our lowly human perspective appears so obscure because it is above and beyond all perception. Supernal darkness lies at the essential origin that precedes any revelation, of which the verse states, “He made darkness His hiding-place.” It is from this darkness that the roots of the vessels are carved. Once the great light is revealed, these vessels appear to absorb it.

The light that appears to us, like the miraculous revelation of the Divine at the Exodus and the Giving of the Torah is of a very high level. But, even higher than this light is the supernal darkness from which the vessels are made—all the 613 commandments with which the light can be integrated.

This is exactly how the Torah relates to the experience at Mt. Sinai. The entire Jewish people stood at the foot of the mountain, saw the voices and heard God’s light—an incredible experience of Divine revelation. But, after those miraculous moments, Moses had to enter the place of darkness to draw the Torah down from there into reality! Mt. Sinai was shrouded in “darkness, cloud and fog,” three screens, one inside the other, and each progressively darker than the last. “Moses approached the fog where God is,” and it was from this “thick cloud” that we received the mitzvot.

The Treasures of the Soul
In Isaiah there is an amazing expression that illustrates this idea, “And I shall give you the treasures of darkness and the hidden caches.” Like a king who hides his most precious treasure in a dark, secret hiding place, the greatest spiritual treasures are also hidden in darkness. These treasures were not even revealed to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, but were stored away especially for the generation that was enslaved to Egypt, so deeply ensconced in the physical darkness of this world that they were worthy of receiving the “treasures of darkness”; the Torah that descended from Heaven to be captured in the 613 vessels of the mitzvot.

When comparing this format to the human psyche, the lights correspond to the soul’s attributes and innate faculties, the essence of one’s personality, and the vessels manifest as three garments of expression: thought, speech and action. Here too, the soul’s expressive garments (or, vessels) seem much lower than its essential faculties. Nonetheless, the three garments descend from the soul’s highest root, the three super-conscious heads of the crown, as explained at length in Chassidut.

The greatest Divine treasures are present in the vessels, the mitzvot, which we apply through thought, speech and action, the three garments of the soul. This means that the vessel that eventually captures and integrates the light, although dark by nature, is not merely subordinate to the great light that is above it, but actually expresses the “fog where God is”; that very same darkness that is far beyond the lights.

Indeed, when we contemplate the word “treasures” (אוֹצָרוֹת) we see that it is composed of the word “lights” (אוֹרוֹת) with an additional letter tzadik (צ). Like Moses in his generation, the tzadik, the righteous leader of the generation, is not content with the lights experienced during moments of spiritual exhilaration, but enters deeper into the thickness of the cloud to enrich us with the “treasures of darkness,” the 613 mitzvot. These are the 248 positive commandments and 365 prohibitions that we keep with the 248 limbs and 365 sinews of our physical bodies.

RATIONAL BEHAVIOR

During one of those recent, frigid days, my wife noticed a lady wheeling a stroller with one hand, and, with the other, holding onto a young boy. The boy was crying loudly and bitterly. My wife saw that his coat was hanging off one arm, completely open; he was obviously freezing. Her heart went out to him, and she said to the lady, “Maybe you’d like to close his jacket.” The lady looked directly at my wife and said, “No.” 

This, my friends, is insanity. 

From small to large events, the temper of our times seems to be more and more insane. People are not even doing things which would benefit them and increase their happiness. They are simply not thinking, acting without reason and therefore hurting themselves and other people by engaging in actions which make no sense at all. Irrational behavior is catastrophic on all levels, because it threatens the peace of the individual and the peace of the world.

I wrote once in this column about the non-Jewish traffic policeman I met at the entrance to the Goethals Bridge. We were discussing some of the people he meets in his daily routine. His comment, which I have never forgotten, was, “Today, insanity is the norm!”

My readers are familiar with my personal story, how I grew up among assimilated Jews in the Upper East Side of Manhattan and had what is considered a privileged upbringing, attending a “sophisticated” private school reserved for those of wealth and power. The school was overwhelmingly Jewish, from the same liberal and assimilated background as our family. We did not know there was a Torah. My wife and I were two of the very few who later found our way back to Hashem and out of this Gehennom. 

Over the years, we have attempted to keep in touch with our childhood friends. What amazes us is that all these old friends – I spent eighteen years with some of these people – not only reject our way of life but totally reject us, refusing to speak to us or respond to us in any way, as if we had some dangerous disease. I believe that they are in mortal fear of having to acknowledge the Truth of our lifestyle or the existence of Hashem Echad. If they acknowledged His existence, they might be forced to confront the emptiness of their own lives. 

“That too is futility and a vexation of the spirit!” (Koheles 2:26)

Hashem in His mercy has given mankind a perfect gift called the Torah. This is the single basis in the world for rational behavior. We witness the giving of this gift in this week’s Parsha. This is perhaps the central Parsha in the entire Torah. Everything has led to this and everything after this is an elaboration of what transpires in this Parsha. 

I want to tell you an amazing story. Rabbi Shlomo Ephrayim of Lunshitz, a talmid of the Maharshal, was known as the Ollelot Ephraim. At one point, he appeared before a gentile ruler with a plea to help the Jews of a distant province. As he was speaking, a malicious priest in attendance at the court stood up and declared to the ruler, “How can you possibly do a favor for these Jews, when their own Talmud states that only Jews are called ‘adam,’ human, but all non-Jews are not called ‘adam?’ (Yevamos 61a). They don’t even consider us human!”

The ruler was taken aback and asked the Ollelot Ephrayim to explain the meaning of that passage. Understanding the great damage that could come through any negative attitude this ruler may have toward Jews, both then and in the future, he carefully explained that only the word “adam,” of all words describing mankind, cannot be pluralized. “Enosh,” for example, can be pluralized as “anashim,” but “adam” has no plural form. This, he said, reveals that every other nation is composed of unrelated individuals. There is no connection, for example, between a German and an Italian. Even in the same country, people have nothing to do with one another. What does one person care if someone else is starving? 

But the Jews, he said, are all one unit, one body. If a Jew is suffering at one end of the world, a Jew on the other side of the world will try to help him, without even having met him! This is why Jews and only Jews are referred to as “adam.” 

“The honored rabbi is one hundred percent correct!” declared the ruler. “The proof is,” and he turned to the stunned priest, “that this rabbi troubled himself to come here in order to help his brethren, and he does this often, which is something that you never did, even for those who are close by!” (Heard from Rabbi Shlomo Bussu Shlita”h, a grandson of the Baba Sali)

As I write, legislators in Washington, D. C. are unable to agree on a budget, threatening to shut down the United States government. Everyone is fighting with everyone else. 

My friends, “mi k’amcha Yisroel … who is like Am Yisroel, a unique nation on earth?” (I Shmuel 7:23)  There is no other nation like ours, and our unity is totally bound up with the unity of our Torah, given to us in the Midbar by Hashem Echad. 

Soon the entire world will understand that the Torah is the sole basis of life upon earth, when our Father and King sends the Redeemer, “who will be great in authority and have peace without limit upon the throne of David and upon his kingdom, to establish it and sustain it through justice and righteousness from now to eternity. The zealousness of Hashem, Master of Legions will accomplish this.” (Yeshiah 9:6; Haftaras Yisro)

May we see it soon in our days!

Payback: Straw, Stone and Lead

The book of Kings (Melachim) 1 chapter 21 relates the tragic story of King Achav of Yisrael, his wife Izevel (Jezebel), and Navoth (Naboth) the Yizreelite (Jezreelite) who inherited a family vineyard that bordered on Achav’s fields. When Achav offered to buy the vineyard, Navoth refused. Izevel had Navoth convicted on false charges and stoned to death. Achav then seized the vineyard.

Eliyahu the prophet appeared before the royal couple, denouncing them with the harsh accusation: “You murdered and seized (inherited) your victim’s property", implying that their conscience was so dulled that even the act of murder did not prevent them from stealing the man’s property from his legal heirs.

Eliyahu then prophesied that Achav and Izevel would soon die, and dogs would lap up their blood.

A New Song:   In the Shacharit (morning) prayers, just before the Shemoneh Esrei (Amida), we say:

“The redeemed people sang a new song of praise to Your name at the sea. They all, in unison, gave thanks and proclaimed Your sovereignty and said, ‘The Lord shall reign forever and ever.’”

Our sages called the song sung at the sea a “new song”, implying that there had previously been an “old song” that had been replaced by the new one. What was that old song, and what led to its replacement?

The Jewish people spent 210 years in Egypt, with the last 80 years involving dreadful slavery. In the last year of their sojourn in Egypt, the Jewish people experienced the enormous miracles that God performed: the ten plagues, the splitting of the sea, and more. They acknowledged those miracles and the One who performed them, and they prepared to sing a song of thanks to God for taking them out of Egypt, saving and redeeming them. Yet coupled with their joy over being saved and redeemed was a sense of discordance. Where was HaShem during the harsh years of servitude, beatings and murders? These mixed feelings inhibited their initial ability to sing with feelings of absolute gratitude.

In Az Yashir, the “new” song they ultimately sang at the sea, we find that the Egyptians were divided into three groups:

“Moshe and the Israelites then sang this song to HaShem…. The depths covered them (the Egyptians). They sank to the bottom like a stone… In your great majesty You broke your opponents. You sent forth your wrath. It devoured them like straw…. You made Your wind blow. The sea covered them. They sank like lead in the mighty waters”.

Yalkut Shimoni explains that the “stone”, “straw” and “lead” describes the death in the sea of three types of Egyptians: the most wicked, those in between, and the mildly wicked. The most wicked died a slow death, like “straw” on the water’s surface, which does not sink quickly. The “stone” alludes to those in between, who drowned after a bit of suffering. The “lead” refers to the mildly wicked, who died quickly, just as lead sinks quickly in water.

Every Jew could see his own slave-master – be he absolutely wicked, in between, or mildly wicked – and they saw each one die in accordance with his own level of wickedness. From this they understood that God was with the Jewish people every single moment throughout the years of enslavement and was aware of the cruelty that was perpetrated on His people. The redeemed Jews understood that they had erred in thinking that HaShem had only appeared for the rescue but not been with them throughout the years of enslavement.

Therefore, after they crossed the sea, they replaced the old song with an updated wording that expressed their new understanding based on what they had witnessed at the Sea of Reeds.

Poland and Christian Europe

Poland is now attempting to cover up their nationwide role in destroying the over 3 million Jews who lived there for 1000 years, and seizing their property in the spirit of, “You have murdered and seized your victim’s property”.

The Poles were not the only murderers of our people in the Shoah, but they were among the worst. The Germans headed the list. Close behind were the Poles, Ukrainians, Lithuanians, Latvians, Romanians, Hungarians, the French, the British – indeed all of Christian Europe. Kikar Shabbos News on Wednesday Tu B’Shevat reports it obtained a secret document from Mekubal Rabbi Yaakov Adas from the gathering of the Sephardi rabbonim, in which Rav Adas reveals serious facts, which he reports to have heard from Avi Abuchatzera, an aide to Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman.

According to Rav Adas, the army recently changed the procedures for recruiting girls, erasing the world of baalei teshuvah among secular girls who began a process of becoming frum, and thousands of girls who began to grow stronger in their Yiddishkheit fell into the army and left the teshuva process R”L.

“The very first shiur of Lev L’Achim for girls begins in 12th grade, after finishing high school. The effort is not made earlier for parents object to the process, objecting to stopping school before matriculation exams. In addition, the classes are mixed, boys and girls. Because of these factors, efforts to make them frum only begin after 12th grade.

“Avi Abuchatzera, the defense minister’s aide, told me that in recent years, many thousands of girls who until recently had been exempt because they are in the process of becoming religious, however, their exemptions are now being canceled. The numbers the assistant had told me were much higher than I actually said, but to avoid being overstated, I say only thousands.

Rabbi Adas said that Rav Shaul Kanievsky told him, “You do not have to convince me, my own daughter received an order to the recruitment office.”

“This daughter, she is not only the granddaughter of Hagaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky, but she lives in the same house, and since Rebitzen Kanievsky died, she moved in next door and connected the apartments. They live together, so she was invited to the recruitment office.”

“What are they doing this for?

“I say what I hear from them, there are many girls who are dropped out and do not really observe Torah and mitzvos and the army wants to find out about it, so they investigate.

“Why is this wrong?

“Of course, taking secular soldiers into the army is wrong, but anyone who deals with women off the derech knows that over 80% return within a few months, but the army wants to take them and abduct them. The problem is that today, the askanim are the ones who lead the matter.
