When the Mashiach comes . . .

There will be no more . . .
Exile
דף מקורות מאת Mordechai Lewis
  1. What’s does exile mean? Expulsion from one’s native land by authoritative decree.

The Gemara[1] says, “There was no more tragic a time than when Hashem told Moshe Rabbeinu, ‘I hide My face on that day’ [in response to Klal Yisrael’s wayward behavior].”

Rabbi Moshe Silberstein says, “Human suffering and exile from Eretz Yisrael are certainly travesties, but the tragedy of being distanced from Hashem is unparalleled.”[2]

Why? Because exile denotes distance from G-d as the Source of Creation and distance from man shaping his destiny.[3] Furthermore, the Gemara[4] answers, “From the day that the Beis HaMikdosh was destroyed, there has been no day without its curse.”[5]

Rebbe Shimon bar Yochai[6] says that night represents exile - the banishment of the Jewish nation from its land.” Yet, the Shechinah is with us in exile, suffering along with us.[7] Exile typifies departure from one’s natural place.[8] Any exile which the Jewish nation suffers is only temporary and has no ultimate reality.[9] Exile is not a home. Exile is not redemption, no matter how sweet it is.[10]

Hashem says to Moshe, “…the Tent of Meeting that dwells with them in the midst of their impurities.”[11] The Gemara[12] teaches that even in a time that they are impure, the Divine Presence rests among them. The Maharsha states that even while the Jews are in exile, the Divine Presence remains with them. Although the years of exile do represent distancing, G-d has not forsaken His people.[13]

    Where’s the proof?
The Medrash[14] states that even when Yisrael was exiled to Egypt, the Shechinah was with them.

In the documentary of The Wizard of Oz, Dorothy states, “Toto,[15] I have a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.” Conversely, how does our Creator remind us, that America is not Yerushalayim?

Rashi says, “In exile Jews will not be sure of safety from violence. As to their livelihood, they will depend on what they can buy day by day…”[16]

What’s so terrible about being in exile?

There is no greater cause of bittul Torah, cessation of Torah study, than the fact that the Jews were exiled from their Land.[17] When the Jews were exiled to Babylonia, not one of them was able to explain his [Torah] learning [properly]. This was the loss of the true splendor of Tzion: the Torah.[18] Being exiled to Babylonia is no different than being exiled to America. There is one catch. Approximately, 200 years ago, Rav Chaim Volozhin told Reb Dovid the following:

“…You should know, my son, that the day will come when the pillars of European Jewry will topple, when the yeshivos will be destroyed and uprooted. However, they will be reborn in the exile of America, the final stop of the Jewish people before the arrival of Moshiach. The American exile will be the tenth[19] and final exile of Torah, following those of Babylon, North Africa, Egypt, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Poland and Lithuania.”[20]

Once the Beis HaMikdash was destroyed, genuine Torah knowledge became inaccessible. The two go hand in hand. Without the Beis HaMikdash, there cannot be true Torah knowledge. Without the Beis HaMikdash Hashem’s Influence is more distant and it is impossible to connect as deeply with Him through Torah as before. This is the reason that in the Yehi Ratzon prayer at the end of Shemonah Esrei we pray for both the Beis HaMikdash to be rebuilt and for our portion in Torah. The Beis HaMikdash brings Hashem’s Influence into this world, while the proper study of Torah infuses the scholar with Hashem’s Influence.[21]

How many people does it take to bring the Final Redemption?

    One person.[22]

After the Jews left Egypt, the Egyptians pursued them until they came upon the Red Sea, at which point they were unable to continue. G-d told Moshe: “Speak to the Children of Israel and let them journey forth![23] They need do nothing but go forward and the sea will not stand in their way. This was sufficient for those whose trust in G-d ran deep. Consequently, the tribes vied with each other as to who would be the first to go into the water and thereby increase the honor of Heaven.[24]

Yet, Nachshon ben Aminadav, the prince of the tribe of Yehudah, leaped forward and descended into the sea first…

Why? He still ruled with G-d, i.e. he had faith in the Holy One, Blessed is He…”[25]

In the end, the sea split because one person – one lone individual – took action, thereby sanctifying G-d’s Name![26]

There’s a poster which has a picture of Uncle Sam pointing his finger at you, saying, “I want YOU for U.S. army.” Similarly, our Creator says to each and every one of us, “I want YOU to have a part in hastening the redemption.” As Rabbi Pinchas of Koretz said, “Every person may change the course of history; it is in the power of every individual to shorten the exile.”[27]

If you think Rabbi Pinchas of Koretz is exaggerating, here are the words of the Rambam:
“A person should view his life all year long as if his merits [for his mitzvos] and his guilt [for his sins] are exactly balanced, and that a single mitzvah could tilt the scales in his favor. Likewise, he should view the entire world as if it is exactly balanced in this way and that his mitzvah could tilt the entire world toward favorable judgment.”[28]

Dorothy states, “There’s no place like home, there’s no place like home, there’s no place like home.”

So too, as long as the service of the Beis HaMikdash took place, there was blessing in the world, there were low prices, there was abundant grain, there was abundant wine, and people ate and were satiated, and animals ate and were satiated… Once the Beis HaMikdash was destroyed, blessing was removed from the world… When the Beis HaMikdash existed, that sacred abode was a place that was prepared to receive the flow of prophecy and wisdom, to the point that through that place it would flow to all of Bnei Yisrael.[29]

What Is the Role of the Nations of the World?

What Is the Role of the Nations of the World?

"AND TO PUT YOU UPPERMOST OVER ALL THE NATIONS WHICH HE MADE…"
(Devarim 26:19)

The nations were made for the purpose of testing Israel if they would resist the harmful influence of the nations, and rise uppermost over all of them by means of keeping all of Hashem's commandments and by making Hashem the chief purpose ("uppermost") in their lives. "All matters of the world are tests for men" (Mesillas Yesharim I), and the nations of the world were made by Hashem to serve as part of the Israel's tests. —

Coincidence is G-d's way of Running the World Incognito

The Parsha and Current Events:
Conscious Awareness
Coincidence is G-d's way of running the world incognito

Discernment, insight, and conscious awareness are the adhesives that bind the building blocks of Judaism.

They are the everyday qualities necessary for a Jew, but they gain prominence in two issues we face in Parashat Ki Tavo and the approaching “Days of Awe” of judgement and teshuva.

The parasha begins with the mitzva of Bikurim, where the grower of any of the seven fruits indigenous to Eretz Yisrael brings a sampling to the Bet Hamikdash, and while standing before the holy altar, consciously declares: ”... I have come to the land the Lord swore to our ancestors to give us... So, the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, with great terror and with signs and wonders. He brought us to this place and gave us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey; and now I bring the first fruits of the soil that you, Lord, have given me.”

The Jew, so tied to the land and his history, acknowledges the truth of our historical past and is aware of the fact that everything good in his life is the result of Hashem’s blessings to the nation and to himself personally.

Indeed! Discernment, insight, and conscious awareness.

These same qualities are essential in the three-stage teshuva process which our rabbis have laid down for us. Acknowledgment of the sin, Regret, Resolution never to repeat the misdeeds of yesterday.

Acknowledgment is founded on one’s discernment, insight, and conscious awareness that he has sinned, for without acknowledgment of one’s failures it would not be possible to draw oneself closer to the Creator.

Regret does not mean that one lies to Hashem by saying that the prohibited experience was without pleasure. It means that the sinner states that he regrets angering and disappointing his Creator by trespassing on the mitzvot that define a Jew.

Resolution not to repeat the sins of the past, and not to fall prey to any provocations to sin in the future.

As stated, the bearer of Bikurim acknowledges his history and birthright as a member of Hashem’s chosen people; his nation’s history of exile, servitude and redemption by Hashem, and his birthright stemming from Hashem’s promise to Avraham, Yitzchak and Ya’akov to be the sole possessors of Hashem’s holy land.
  • An observant Jew living in the exile today conveniently escapes the necessity to discern, be insightful, and be consciously aware of the changes that Hashem has brought upon our nation through the advent of Medinat Yisrael. The call of the rebbe in his local shtiebel to stay put until the Mashiach sends a flying carpet for him, is more salient than all the miracles that Hashem’s performs here in Eretz Yisrael daily. Incredible!
  • The tool of the Yetzer Hara (evil instinct) in the galut is to cloud a Jew’s clarity of thought by diverting his attention to the secondary fleeting aspects of the Medina, while blinding him and his spiritual leaders to the great broad strokes of redemption that are now reverberating in our lives.
The only safe haven – Tehillim chapter 46:

1 Hashem is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of Hashem, the holy place where the Most High dwells.
5 Hashem is within her, she will not fall; Hashem will help her at break of day.
6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; He lifts His voice, the earth melts.
7 The Lord Almighty is with us; the Hashem of Jacob is our fortress.
8 Come and see what the Lord has done, the desolations He has brought on the earth.
9 He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth.
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; He burns the shields with fire.
10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am Hashem; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
11 The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

So far this year, over 140 million people across 37 Muslim countries are in need of humanitarian aid.

In the past few days, more than 1,200 people have been killed, and the lives of some 40 million others turned upside down, by torrential rain in northern India, southern Nepal, northern Bangladesh and southern Pakistan.

In Yemen, the site of a proxy war that began in March 2015, 10,000 people have been killed, with 7 million made homeless. Cholera has already killed 2,000 people and infected more than 540,000.

In Syria, Bashar al-Assad has killed hundreds of thousands of his own people, more than Iraq’s Saddam ever did.

North Korea conducts a hydrogen nuclear test resulting in a tremor of 6.3 magnitude, and threatens the United States.

Sinkholes, tsunamis, volcanoes, wildfires like the ones now blazing in LA which are considered to be the most devastating fires in its history. And the list continues*.

In light of the above, the flooding of Houston, Texas alongside the havoc wreaked in other parts of the world, is minor.

King David states in Tehillim 46 regarding Hashem’s chosen people in Eretz Yisrael:

“Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging...Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts. The Lord Almighty is with us; the Hashem of Jacob is our fortress.

One might say that what is occurring today is an interesting coincidence. However, we must understand that coincidence is Hashem’s way of controlling the world while remaining anonymous.

It appears that the time has arrived when Hashem has begun to mete out our long-awaited call for punishment for all those who perpetrated great injustices to the Jewish nation. Not only against those who methodically murdered our brothers and sisters, but also against those who could have saved Jewish lives, but refused to do so. Against those who could have bombed the camps in Europe, or at the least the rail tracks that facilitated the arrival of the Jews to the camps; but did not do so even once. And those nations that closed the doors to the holy land, and turned the escaping Jews back to the Gehennom of Europe.

Europe is rotting from within by the Moslems that metastasize into every town and neighborhood. The United States is undergoing the many socio-economic cleavage lines which will in time permanently divide the union.

I have previously stated my belief that the Shoah was not a heavenly decree against the Jewish people. It was a decree made by Hashem, and put into effect with the first world war, that the evil descendants of Aisav (Esau) should put an end to one another. Russians should kill Germans, and Germans the English, and the English should kill Austrians, etc. The second world war was a continuation of the first, after an extended cease fire. We were turned into soap because the leash on insanity was released and the Jews were caught up in it **BECAUSE WE WERE THERE! And we were there because we did not understand that when Aisav kills Aisav, it is no place for Ya’akov to be.

If indeed, Hashem has begun to punish those who have perpetrated great injustices to the Jewish nation, and immoral peoples the world over; the only safe haven for a Jew is here in Eretz Yisrael.

  • Chazal state that “natural” disasters are a result of immoral behavior. That when people act in unnatural ways, nature revolts by breaking the bounds placed on it by the Creator.

The warnings are out there, and have been since the creation of the Medina. The call is clear for all who wish to hear Jewish truth. The exile is over, and the Jews who do not return home may suffer the fate of their gentile neighbors.

To be fair, it was nearly impossible for those Torah observant Jews caught in WWII to have afforded a quick escape, even if they knew what was about to happen to them; or an evacuation to a safe haven because most of the European states/countries around the poor people were also doomed in WWII, as the author describes.

An alternative Torah opinion is expressed in A Divine Madness by Rabbi Avigdor Miller.

CAT 4/Hurricane JOSE - Models show possible

East Coast encounter - "Long Shot”

MUST READ: According to CNN, the dramatic mass exodus from South Florida could become one of the largest evacuations in US history.[. . .] Hashem does everything for the best, whether or not we understand how and why. The Gemara says (Tractate Sanhedrin, 37b) that exile atones for all a person's sins. In light of this principle, where a nation doesn't have the will or the sense to repent, rather than being punished more severely, they are exiled. This is exactly what happened to the Jewish People during the destruction and subsequent exile of our First and Second Holy Temples. RabbiLazerBrody

AND MUST READ: Birthpangs of Moshiach and Spiritual Epidural: Maybe you'll believe Isaiah the Prophet. He reprimands those who reject the word of G-d and says, "...it will happen with quick suddenness; Hashem, the Master of Legions, will frequent you with thunder, and with earthquake, and loud sound, storm and tempest, and consuming flame of fire" (Isaiah 29:5-6). In one passage, Isaiah summarizes today's news, including the fires all over West-coast USA, the aftermath of Harvey, Irma, and this morning's colossal 8.1 magnitude earthquake in Mexico, with two more hurricanes brewing out at sea. "Quick suddenness" like the prophet says, events are happening faster than we can write about them. If that's not enough, maybe you'll believe the holy Ariza'l, the father of Kabbalah . . . 1900s PHOTOS OF HOUSTON FLOODS

Photos of Houston floods from early 1900s prove natural disasters not caused by so-called "climate change”
[While speaking to weather–war accusers, it still does not take into account the Creator of All. However, the “weather–war” enthusiasts are closer to the truth of the "Source of All”]

After being hit with 50 inches of rain in under four days thanks to Hurricane Harvey, [. . .] officials say it could take weeks before the roads become passable again.

Many in the mainstream media are taking advantage of Texans’ misery to further their climate change agenda, blaming the rising water on global warming. However, a growing voice of experts is pointing out that this is the type of natural weather disaster has been pretty standard throughout history.

Former NASA scientist and climatologist Dr. Roy W. Spencer said that Harvey was simply a natural weather disaster of the variety that has “always occurred and always will occur.” He also takes alarmists like Al Gore to task for “making naturally-occurring severe weather seem unnatural.”

He says that it can be difficult to compare major flooding throughout history because people alter the landscapes over time. For example, he points out that as cities like Houston grow, areas once covered only in soil begin to host buildings, parking lots, and roads, which causes water to drain off instead of being soaked into the dirt like it was in the past. Add to this the fact that Houston’s population has grown ten times since the 1920s, and you’ll see that it’s now a much different state of affairs.

Nevertheless, Houston is no stranger to flooding, and these disasters precede modern industrialization. Photos show Houston underwater after one massive flood hit the city’s downtown area in December 1935 that saw water levels at Buffalo Bayou reaching 54.4 feet. The current water level there now stands at just 38 feet, although it is rising.

Spencer believes that Houston’s current flooding isn’t as bad as the one that hit the area 80 years ago despite the fact that the city had 2 million fewer people back then. He disputes the idea that Harvey’s high rainfall was caused by man-made warming, saying that the concentration of the rain over the Houston area was caused by the hurricane stalling after coming ashore.

Fewer hurricanes hitting U.S.

Moreover, he adds that we are not currently seeing more intense hurricanes than we did in past decades. He says that since 1970, the country has only been hit by four hurricanes that were Category 4 or higher; in the same number of years leading up to 1970, there were 14 such strikes. He points out that Tropical Storm Claudette caused 43 inches of rain to hit Houston in a mere 24 hours; it took a few days for Harvey’s rainfalls to reach those numbers.

He points out that nearly 12 years have passed since the last major hurricane (defined here at Category 3 or stronger) made landfall in the country. Moreover, the greatest natural disaster in the history of the U.S. happened a very long time ago, when a category 4 hurricane killed between 6,000 and 12,000 people in Galveston in 1900. This leaves Spencer wondering why the National Weather Service is calling the event “unprecedented.” He thinks this term might ultimately apply to the damage and the number of people who are affected by the storm, but as a meteorological event, it’s hardly unprecedented.

The fact remains that Houston is an area that is naturally at risk for flooding and hurricanes, and the situation is made worse by the city’s outdated infrastructure, urban sprawl, and poor land and reservoir management. On top of that, we’re in the middle of hurricane season. A pair of respected scientists recently concluded that the global warming temperature changes noted in recent years would have happened even in the absence of human activity, and that’s also likely true of this storm. As Spencer said, “Weather disasters happen, with or without the help of humans.”
