ANTISEMITISM AND HATRED OF HAREDIM “F.O.R R.E.A.L” IN ISRAEL

Ongoing arson attacks on [Gerrer Chassidim] haredi-owned stores in Arad

On Thursday night before Simchat Torah, a minimarket went up in flames in the southern Israeli city of Arad. The store belongs to a Gerrer chassid; Arad is home to a large community of Gerrer chassidim. They allege that the fire was deliberate arson, motivated by the ongoing incitement against the haredi community in the media and the community, with haredim being blamed for the spread of the coronavirus.

The store was utterly destroyed by the fire, with damages amounting to over NIS 1.5 million. The store is located in a shopping center with many other establishments also owned by Gerrer chassidim, and indeed a bakery and another store – both owned by Gerrer chassidim – also suffered damage from the fire.

A local resident from the Gerrer community told the haredi news website Kikar Hashabbatthat: “In recent months, there has been a series of arson attempts and other criminal attacks on businesses in Arad. The feeling is that they are the result of both local and national incitement against haredim.”

He noted that, “Police have arrested a suspect in last week’s arson – a 17-year-old youth from Arad – without specifying his motives. But the writing was already on the wall before this last attack, and to us it’s obvious that the youth was motivated by hatred of haredim that is being stoked by various elements in the city and in the country as a whole.

“In the last half year, there have been several other instances of arson,” he added, “including one on a vegetable store and another on a different minimarket, both owned by Gerrer chassidim – and not a single instance of a store owned by a secular proprietor being damaged. There have also been other criminal attacks against establishments owned by haredim.”

Singling out the haredi community for especial censure during the coronavirus epidemic has not focused on any particular community for the most part, and therefore even though the Gerrer community in Arad has been praised by both police and local residents for their adherence to the guidelines designed to curb the spread of the disease, they have been targeted nonetheless. In general, the community prefers to keep a low profile, but Kikar Hashabbat notes that senior members in the Chassidut are coming to the conclusion that action must be taken in order to protect those in the Arad community from ongoing attacks.

Arson! Hate crime! If Only We Could Blame the Jews . . .

Arson!

Hate crime!

For the second time, the dual language Jewish/Arab school has been torched. This unique educational /cultural institution was created to encourage better understanding and respect between Jews and Arabs in Israel. Upon reporting yet another arson attack on the school, the school principal and the media knew who the perpetrators were. At least they thought they knew. But they were wrong.

In fact it wasn't the usual suspects; those extremist Jews who annoyingly warn against assimilation of Jews with Arabs  in Israel. The arsonists of the school of coexistence and respect were  parents of children in the school.  No, they were not Jewish parents. The parents are Arabs from nearby Ramla and Lod. They were angry and expressed their anger in an "accepted manner in the Arab community”.

They torched the school (as Arabs often do to to settle clan disputes) .

Here is where we should mention the name of  Amiram ben Uliel.
Amiram is sitting in solitary confinement for over five years with his wife and small child longing for him at home. He has been sentenced to multiple life sentences for the arson murder of Arabs in their home. The sentence hinges solely upon the admission that he threw a fire bomb into the window of the house. This admission of guilt followed extreme torture. There is no other evidence; just admission under torture and the threat of more torture.

Lately, the father of the parents killed in the fire attack that night has told the media that his grandchild, one of the survivors told him that there were two, not one attackers and that they doused his parents with kerosene and lighted them outside the house. This is nothing like the incriminating  admission of  Amiram.  but that was the torturers and courts enough to put him away for life.

There have been many arson attacks by local Arabs in that same village before and after the attack that night in which Amiram is accused. We will be launching a campaign for his release. "Honenu" is the organization to contact if you want to help

So what was their beef with the school? There would not be a first grade opening this year.

Not happy with that. So burn baby burn!
How sad.
If only we could blame the Jews
