Aside from very limited exceptions, should everyone join the army?
How much does the size of the army impact the outcome of the war?
How much emphasis should be placed on everyone arming themselves and other such practical measures?
How much sympathy should we have for loss of life on the other side?
Should we empathize with their wives and mothers who suffer losses?
Should Jews flee Israel for "safer" places?
These questions and more are addressed in just the first part of this week's Torah class, based on lessons from Shiras Devora.
In the second part we learned more fundamental lessons from Sha'ar HaBitachon that will help guide us in present times and all areas of life.
