Even Children on Bicycles Become Victims of “Accidents”

POMONA, N.Y. (VINnews) — An 8-year-old girl was killed Tuesday evening after being struck by a vehicle while riding her bicycle on Ravenna Drive in Pomona, authorities and emergency responders said.

The child, identified as Shaindel Herzberg, was found in critical condition when emergency crews arrived. Members of Hatzoloh, along with Spring Hill EMS and Rockland Paramedics, performed extensive lifesaving measures at the scene before transporting her to a local hospital.

Despite continued resuscitation efforts, the girl was later pronounced dead.

Shaindel was the granddaughter of Sandy Eller, a longtime freelance writer for VINnews.

The Ramapo Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The incident prompted an outpouring of grief throughout the Rockland County Jewish community as residents mourned the loss of the young girl.

E–BIKES and Children a Deadly Combination

HaRav Yaakov Bender, the longtime Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshiva Darchei Torah and one of the most influential voices in chinuch in the United States, has issued a blistering warning to parents regarding the growing danger of electric bikes and scooters, saying that allowing children to use them is “akin to giving a gun to a child.”

In a sharply worded letter to parents, HaRav Bender expressed frustration that despite repeated tragedies and warnings, some parents continue to allow their children to ride electric bikes and scooters to yeshiva.

“I am at my wits’ end that there are still parents who allow their children to bring electric bikes and scooters to the Yeshiva,” he wrote.

The Rosh Yeshiva pointed to the recent fatal collision on the Queensboro Bridge in which two e-bike riders lost their lives, as well as other deadly incidents involving children riding scooters in Jewish communities.

“Jewish children on scooters have been killed in other communities. Other children have been maimed,” he wrote.

HaRav Bender placed responsibility squarely on parents who permit their children to use the vehicles, calling it “pure negligence on the part of the parents.”

“I believe in making children happy—but allowing a child to ride an electric bike or scooter is akin to giving a gun to a child,” he stated.

In an extraordinary step, HaRav Bender revealed that he has personally confiscated numerous electric bikes and scooters brought by students to yeshiva. According to the letter, some children have been leaving the vehicles in nearby backyards rather than bringing them onto campus in an attempt to evade school rules.

“In my office, I now have a collection of electric bikes and scooters that were ridden to Yeshiva and then placed in backyards of homes down the street,” he wrote.

The vehicles are being kept under lock and key, he explained, to prevent students from retrieving them and continuing to ride them.

Acknowledging the intense pressure many parents face from children seeking the increasingly popular vehicles, HaRav Bender nevertheless urged parents not to give in.

“I understand that every single child asks for these toys, but parents who give in are ignoring the (chas v’shalom) consequences,” he warned.

British Jewish doctor says colleagues told him they’d let Israeli patient die

Baruch, who is moving with his family to Israel due to surging antisemitism in UK, also tells British TV that he has been repeatedly harassed in public for wearing a kippah

Hashem Wants His Children to Come Home……Leave Britain

Baruch is an NHS doctor whose family arrived in the UK 400 years ago, but is now moving to Israel due to antisemitism.

Baruch, who lives with his wife and children in Golders Green, said that as someone who grew up in London, he never imagined a day would come that he would be scared to walk the streets as a Jew.

“To have that long lineage of a family who came here 400 years ago and now having to leave because on the one hand we want to leave, we love Israel, but also leaving because of antisemitism, is very sad,” he said.

In another part of the interview, Baruch said that some of his fellow doctors at the NHS told him they wouldn’t treat an Israeli patient, even if he was dying.

“It’s very scary to me that I have met doctors who’ve said that they will not, point-blank, treat somebody who has come from certain areas of the world,” Baruch said.

“If they are dying in A&E, I’ve been told by doctors that if they’re from Israel, then they will not treat that person. That to me is disgraceful.”

Baruch added that he has seen Jewish patients being refused kosher meals.

The Jewish Chronicle published a response to the report from the Department of Health and Social Care spokesperson, who said: “These reports are shocking. It is unacceptable that people do not currently feel safe working in and using the health service.

“Recent incidents of antisemitism have drawn stark attention to problems of culture and how racist incidents are addressed.

“This government has been clear that change is needed and that the medical healthcare professional regulatory system is failing to protect Jewish patients and NHS staff. That’s why the prime minister ordered an urgent review, led by Lord Mann, into antisemitism and all forms of racism in the health service. We will use every tool at our disposal to make sure Jewish NHS staff feel safe at work.”

Last month, a Jewish community leader in Bristol said that “life in the UK is starting to resemble Germany in the early 1930s.”

Hillel Eisenberg: Stop taking your body for granted!!

Avi was moments away from losing his eyesight forever. A rare parasite had entered his eye and was spreading rapidly. Doctors in Eretz Yisrael told him there was only one surgeon in the world who could even attempt the procedure — in Boston. By the time Avi arrived, he was already blind in one eye… and the second eye was beginning to be affected. The doctors told him: “If we operate, it must be immediately.” But before the surgery, Avi walked into a shul, stood in front of the Aron Kodesh, and for the first time in fifty years simply began thanking Hashem. Thank You for eyes that see. For ears that hear. For lungs that breathe. For legs that walk. For a heart that beats. For a body that works. And then something unbelievable happened. This is not just a story about eyesight. It is a story about Asher Yatzar. About gratitude. About the silent miracles happening inside your body every second of your life. “The Miracle Of Me” — an emotional new video in collaboration with ArtScroll inspired by the power of gratitude and the bracha we say every single day. Rabbi Green: Medical Mass Murder

Medical Mass Murder
When Jews kill their own

Just got off the phone with a friend who is a nurse with years of experience. She has recently worked in a rehab facility serving orthodox Jewish patients.

She gave me a horrific first-hand account how the medical staff there is euthanizing patients or at least condemning them to die, patients who had been in good spirits and had expressed the will to live.

It seems that there has recently been a dramatic shift in medical policy. “Do not resuscitate” now automatically means “do not treat.” In layman terms, it means “let him die.”

My nurse friend said she has never seen anything like this in all her years. Staff members are disciplined for questioning the policy. Nurses are suffering anxiety and mental health issues for being prevented from saving the lives of their patients.

My friend said she never thought she’d ever see such utter disregard for human life anywhere, let alone in an orthodox Jewish rehab facility which is supposedly there to rehabilitate patients, not condemn them to death. Although my friend loves Jews and initially appreciated working in a glatt kosher facility that honors religious observance, she described her time working there as “surreal” and “traumatic.”

She concluded in horror: “Rabbi, they’re killing their own!”

Who will heed her cry?

How can we stop the genocide? Or is there a more accurate term for iatrogenic mass-slaughter of one’s own people?

Rabbi Winston: Parashas Shlach

THERE IS SOME disagreement regarding when Yisro left the Jewish camp for his home country, Midian. Some say it was prior to the giving of Torah and some say it was after, but no one says that he was around for the incident of the spies. And for all we know, that’s why he actually left, something Moshe Rabbeinu begged him not to do.

After all, how good could that have looked in the eyes of the world? Yes, he converted, but then he chose to leave the kedushah of the people of G–D, his own daughter and grandchildren, and the greatest leader of all time, Moshe Rabbeinu, for…Midian? What kind of statement was THAT?

Perhaps Yisro sensed that as good as things for the moment, at some point everything was going to go south, and he didn’t want to be there when it did. After all, as Moshe will point out in Parashas Devarim when reflecting back on Parashas Yisro, the Jewish People were litigious.

That was what Yisro saw when he first arrived and why he suggested an expanded legal system. After all they had gone through and witnessed, so many still seemed more interested in winning than being right. If people could be so self-centered with G–D overhead, Torah in their hands, and Moshe Rabbeinu as a role model, surely disaster loomed in the near future.

It certainly did not help that the Erev Rav had come along as well for the journey. Yisro knew what Egyptians were like, and the Erev Rav were ex-Egyptians. And if Yisro left after Mt. Sinai, then he already saw the impact they were having on the nation and knew that things would get worse before they would get better. We’re still waiting for the better.

Maybe Moshe Rabbeinu acknowledged this when he pleaded with Yisro:

He said, “Please don't leave us, for because you are familiar with our encampments in the desert and you will be our eyes.” (Bamidbar 10:31)

What an unusual thing to say to convince Yisro to stay…until you remember this:

Why does the letter Ayin come before the letter Peh [in Megillas Eichah]? Because of the spies who spoke (peh—mouth) about that which they did not see (ayin—eye). (Sanhedrin 104b)

After all, Yisro was an elder statesman. He had been around, seen it all, and tried just about everything. He had a cushy job back where he came from, and probably access to wealth. And yet he left it all behind to be a Jew and live in Eretz Yisroel. It might have been the extra support Moshe needed to counteract the spies whose shortsightedness led to their gruesome deaths and 39 extra years of desert wandering for the rest of the nation.

Even Caleiv and Yehoshua, Moshiach Ben Dovid and Moshiach Ben Yosef in their time, couldn’t do that. Perhaps Yisro weighed the risk and decided it wasn’t worth getting caught up with the people who became the spies and their supporters. It might have been a Chillul Hashem that he left, but it was a bigger Chillul Hashem when the spies rejected the land and caused G–D to back away from them for decades.

We don’t hear much about Yisro in Tanach after that. But his descendants, the Kenites were told to separate themselves from the Amalekis by Shaul HaMelech on his way to eradicate the latter. Some of his other descendants were part of the Sanhedrin, and even Bilaam was forced to praise him:

When he saw the Kenite, he took up his parable and said, "How firm is your dwelling place, and your nest is set in a cliff.”(Bamidbar 24:21)

How firm is your dwelling place. [Bilaam asks Yisro, who is Keni,] “I wonder how you merited this? Were you not with me in the counsel [we gave Pharaoh], ‘Come, let us deal wisely with them’.”? (Shemos 1:10)… (Rashi)

One has to wonder once news of the spies reached Yisro back in Midian if he quietly thought to himself, “Told you so.” At the very least, he was probably relieved not to be dying off in the desert over 39 years. But maybe, just maybe, he also wondered to himself if, perhaps, he could have made the difference, and prevented the episode of the spies. Who knows?

If You Know Anyone With Multiple Sclerosis......

My friend and colleague Dr. Terry Wahls is someone I deeply admire. She lives with multiple sclerosis, and at one point her condition had progressed to the point where she was confined to a tilt-recline wheelchair

Rather than accept that as her future, she dove into the science, focusing on targeted nutrition, rehabilitation, and addressing the root drivers of her condition. Today, she bikes to work and leads clinical trials helping others do the same. Her story is nothing short of remarkable

And it speaks directly to something I've built my life's work around: the brain and body have a profound capacity to heal when we give them the right conditions. What we eat, how we move, and how we address underlying inflammation matter far more than most people realize

Terry has brought together 50+ experts, myself included, for her Multiple Sclerosis and Autoimmune Summit 4.0, and I want to personally invite you to join us

Whether MS affects your life directly or you simply care about protecting your brain health and long-term independence, I think you'll find this incredibly valuable

The Attack on the British Museum and Biblical Archaeology

Ancient Israel and Judah—too controversial for modern-day London
By Richard Palmer and Christopher Eames • June 1

“Ancient Israel and Judah” are now such controversial topics that you cannot safely host a talk about them in central London.

This was the title of a scheduled hour-long lunchtime talk for May 28 as part of the British Museum’s Jewish Culture Month. It was postponed due to “security concerns.” The museum said in a statement issued the day prior that “a significant proportion” of those who had tickets planned to “deliberately disrupt the event.”

The lecture was intended to explain how “the histories of the kingdoms of Israel and Judah can be illuminated by the archaeology and art of the wider ancient Middle East,” delivered by Keeper of the Department of the Middle East Paul Collins. Initially, the museum postponed the talk to an unspecified later date, citing the “importance of lawful protest and freedom of expression in a democratic society” as well as the “responsibility to ensure that events hosted within the Museum can proceed safely, securely and without intimidation for speakers, staff and visitors alike.” A May 28 statement says the lecture will take place “early next month.

[…]

“The main issue is not free speech,” wrote journalist Melanie Phillips in her own blog post, titled “War Against Israel Targets the British Museum.” “It’s the need to combat Soviet-style disinformation and psychological warfare that’s resulted in a cult-like grip on millions of minds.” She noted that the postponement “has fueled bitter criticism of the museum for ‘pathetic’ cowardice and bowing to mob rule. It’s also increased alarm among British Jews that Jewish life is rapidly being squeezed out of the country, as the political and cultural establishment seeks to appease Islamist and left-wing pressure to turn Israel and Zionism into pariahs ….”

[…]

“[T]he society that ceases to allow to free discussion of ideas and stops respecting and recognizing the value of scientific and historical sources and facts is a society that will fail,” Montefiore wrote.

Yet there is another angle here—one of some reassurance. While lectures may be postponed or canceled, and open-editing encyclopedias may be changed at will, what does not change are the facts on—and from—the ground. In a motif found several times in the biblical text—serving as the inspiration for the title of our magazine, Let the Stones Speak (a saying oft-repeated by our mentor, the late Dr. Eilat Mazar)—when people fall silent, it is the stones themselves that “cry out” as a “witness” to history (e.g. Joshua 24:27; Habakkuk 2:11).

Sivan 20 = June 4 This Year is this Thursday Night / Friday…….

…….. the same date as the coming terrible mass celebration at the Dead Sea on June 4

What is special about Sivan 20?

Tach v'Tat" (Hebrew: גזירות ת"ח ות"ט, lit. Decrees of 5408 and 5409) is the Jewish historical term for the devastating Cossack massacres that ravaged Polish, Lithuanian, and Ukrainian Jewry in 1648 and 1649. It is considered one of the bloodiest chapters in Jewish history preceding the Holocaust.

While the violence raged across multiple months, the historical date designated to commemorate the tragedy is the 20th of Sivan (כ' בסיון)
  • The Historical Trigger: On the 20th of Sivan, 5408 (June 10, 1648), one of the first major and most brutal large-scale massacres of the uprising took place in the town of Nemyriv (modern-day Ukraine), where thousands of Jews were murdered

A historic and chilling address that will shake the Jewish world! Amidst the severe decrees, budget cuts, and arrests of Yeshiva students, the leader of the generation, Maran Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Moshe Hillel Hirsch shlita, delivered an unprecedented emergency speech to hundreds of Roshei Yeshiva in Bnei Brak, launching the 3rd year of "Keren Olam HaTorah
."

Rav Hirsch painfully described the current situation in Israel: "Yeshiva students are physically afraid to walk in the streets." He declared that the survival of the Torah world now depends on every single Jew worldwide contributing, not just the wealthy. In a special message delivered in English, the Gadol HaDor warned that the very existence of the State of Israel relies solely on the Torah studied within it, concluding with a powerful declaration of defiance: "The Torah world will declare: No!
