POMONA, N.Y. (VINnews) — An 8-year-old girl was killed Tuesday evening after being struck by a vehicle while riding her bicycle on Ravenna Drive in Pomona, authorities and emergency responders said.
The child, identified as Shaindel Herzberg, was found in critical condition when emergency crews arrived. Members of Hatzoloh, along with Spring Hill EMS and Rockland Paramedics, performed extensive lifesaving measures at the scene before transporting her to a local hospital.

Despite continued resuscitation efforts, the girl was later pronounced dead.
Shaindel was the granddaughter of Sandy Eller, a longtime freelance writer for VINnews.
The Ramapo Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The incident prompted an outpouring of grief throughout the Rockland County Jewish community as residents mourned the loss of the young girl.
