Haredi Jew Protest:Thousands of ultra-Orthodox Jewish demonstrators gathered in Jerusalem after a member of the Haredi community was jailed for refusing military service, reigniting one of Israel's most divisive domestic debates.
Footage showed protesters praying, chanting and clashing with police as they condemned the imprisonment of the draft refuser. Demonstrators argued that compulsory military service threatens the ultra-Orthodox way of life and religious traditions, with some saying Torah study should not be treated as a crime.
The issue of military conscription for Haredi Jews has become increasingly controversial in Israel, particularly as legal challenges and security pressures have intensified calls for broader military service requirements.
