CHANUKAH CRISPY SCHNITZEL FRIES....getting ready

 Crispy Schnitzel Fries

  • 500 g 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 medium potato grated
  • 1 small onion grated
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp sweet paprika
  • 1 tsp Shawarma

For the Coating:

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 – 1/2 cups breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds
  • Oil for frying
  • In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, grated potato, onion, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, turmeric, paprika and shawarma. Mix well.
  • Transfer mixture to a resealable plastic bag, or spread evenly in a rectangular pan lined with parchment paper. Flatten the mixture into a rectangle, cover, and freeze for 2 hours.
  • Meanwhile prepare dipping station. In one bowl, whisk eggs. In another, mix breadcrumbs with sesame seeds.
  • Remove the frozen mixture from freezer and cut it into even strips to form fries.
  • Dip each strip first in the egg, then coat thoroughly in the breadcrumb mixtures
  • Heat about 1–1.5 cm (1/2 inch) of oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the schnitzel strips in batches until golden and crispy on all sides. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  • Notes  You can freeze any unused mixture for quick and easy frying later; add spices like garlic powder or smoked paprika to the egg mixture before coating.
