Once again, together with the Hashomer Hachadash, we will help the war effort and Am Yisrael. This time we will help bring in the orange harvest on kibbutz Kfar Menachem in the Judean foothills.
Jewish pioneers first established the community in 1935 but abandoned it a year later after the country-wide Arab pogroms of 1936. The kibbutz was revitalized by a group of American Olim in 1938 when it became one of the "tower and stockade" settlements, defying Britain's draconian anti-Jewish land restriction policies.
After the War of Independence, the kibbutz expanded Jewish sovereignty onto lands that the neighboring Arab attacking enemy fled.
In the afternoon, we will have a ( very timely) special guided tour of the extremely moving and educational Gush Katif Museum in Jerusalem. In the context of the current war, we will understand the historic tragedy of the destruction and expulsion of the many flourishing Gaza communities in 2005 by the Israeli government.
Tuesday, January 9
We will meet at 7:30 at the Inbal Hotel and end our tour around 5:00
130 shekels
Participation is limited to 17 people.
