USS New York: A Voyage of Destiny »
BY RABBI YAAKOV SPIVAK
There you are, dear ship
Emerging from the murky fog
A ghost grey color envelopes you
But you are very much alive
Your powerful engines have thrust you into the great ocean
You embrace your cargo of eight hundred United States Marines
Your flight deck opens its palm
Revealing Iron Eagles of Prey and Rescue
But your color does not lie
There are ghosts deep within you
Those whose deaths have not been avenged
From where your steel was taken we shall all remember
Within your bow lies the iron and smoke of eleven September
Sail on dear ship!
Tenderly you bear the blood of the Innocent
Your destiny… to bring to Justice the Guilty
One day, those who have shed blood will face you
You will bring Vengeance to the cruel
And Peace to the Merciful
Sail on…
