[…] ARRESTED: Man Who Killed Bnei Brak Yungerman Inside Chazon Ish Kollel Taken Into Custody
Police have arrested the suspect in today’s deadly stabbing at Kollel Chazon Ish on HaAri Street following an intensive manhunt.
As YWN reported earlier, the victim was identified as Reb Yishai Por, z”l, 52, one of the chashuva avreichim in the kollel, who learned there for more than 20 years with extraordinary hasmadah.
The horrific attack occurred while Reb Yishai was learning with his only son, 13, who was born after many years of marriage. He was critically wounded in the stabbing and later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police say the suspect fled the scene after the attack but was captured a short time later in Beit Shemesh by officers from the Bnei Brak-Ramat Gan and Beit Shemesh police stations. Investigators say the suspect, also 52 and believed to be homeless, was acquainted with the victim.
Reb Yishai is survived by his wife and only son.

A 52-year-old avreich was murdered while learning with his son inside Kollel Chazon Ish on HaAri Street in Bnei Brak.
He was initially in critical condition, but doctors were forced to pronounce his death in the hospital an hour or two later. He was identified as Reb Yishai Por, z’l, one of the chashuve avreichim in the kollel.
He was stabbed with a knife by a mentally disturbed man while learning with his only son, 13, who was born after many years of marriage. The murderer then fled the scene.
The niftar learned for over 20 years at the Chazon Ish kollel with extraordinary hasmadah. He is survived by his wife and only son.
Emergency responders and police forces were dispatched to the scene and administered emergency medical treatment. The victim was then evacuated by intensive care ambulance to Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer while continuing to receive life-saving treatment.
The police, who said that the incident was criminally motivated, launched a manhunt to locate the assailant.
MDA emergency medic Elchanan Rosenstein said: “The victim was lying there semi-conscious and suffering from penetrating injuries to his body. We provided medical treatment, including stopping the bleeding and administering medication, and evacuated him in an MDA intensive care ambulance to the hospital in serious condition.”
