Shalom Pollack: Some interesting December Tiyulim

Tuesday, December  2

We will be doing two very  special things:

One - We will visit the Renewable Energy Center on Mount Gilboa.
On this unique tour, we will learn about wind, solar, and water energy, and how they have made  Israel the world's leader in these fields.

After descending from beautiful/biblical Mount Gilboa and the heights of cutting-edge energy technology, we will have lunch at the restaurant with the most fabulous view in the world.
We will dine (not included in the cost of the tour) at the beautiful "Rotem restaurant" in the Jordan Valley hilltop village of Rotem

After lunch, we shall be among the first to visit new pioneer farms above the Jordan Valley,  where young families dedicate themselves to cultivating our land  for Am Yisrael
By shepherding  large swaths of land that would otherwise be occupied by  Bedouins, agents of the Palestinian Authority, and their EU backers, they are literally  securing our future in our land

We will have the honor to meet them and demonstrate our love and support for these young pioneer families..
They are thrilled to know we'll be coming to visit, to see that they are not alone in the struggle for our land.

Departure from the Inbal Hotel at 8:30
Return approx. 5:30
280 shekels

Chanukah, Tuesday, December 16

A walking tour in the Old City.

We will meet at Jaffa Gate  at 9:00 and tour interesting sites as we walk towards the unique  "Old Yishuv"  museum in the Jewish Quarter where
we will have a guided tour.
This wonderful museum tells the story of  two centuries of  Jewish life in the Old City's Jewish quarter before the Jordanian conquest, desecration and  occupation in 1948.

We will continue  our tour deeper into the Jewish and Armenian Quarters
visiting classic and some lesser known interesting  sites

We will break for lunch in the Jewish Quarter at an eatery of your choice.

After lunch we will continue to the revealing  "Southern Wall excavations" with its magnificent discoveries ( and film), as we dive deep into the second  Temple era.
We will end around 3:00.
150 shekels, including all entrance fees.

Monday, December 29

A day in the Dead Sea area.

Meet at the Inbal hotel at 8:30 and return about 6:00

We begin our day with the  descent  through the Judean Desert which should be wearing its short lived but  beautiful green coat and flowers  at this time of year.

Our first stop will be  the ancient (2000 years) synagogue at ein Gedi.
Its beautiful and mystical mosaic floor hints of closely guarded  community secrets.

We then proceed to the shores of the Dead Sea where you can stroll along  the waters or go all the way for a short float in the lovely seperate beach.
We will use this stop to enjoy  our packed lunches.

Finally we will visit the new "Dead Sea research and visitors center"
Everything about the Dead Sea under one huge  roof, including films and tours.
300 shekels
