PURIM With Leah of Itamar

 Leah’s Blog – Purim- March 2023

An astoundingly large grandiose and fortified wall- “The wall of the King” surrounded the castle of the Emperor of Persia. Here, when you got inside it, closer to the palace, you would see all the ministers and officers that managed the court. Instructions were written out on parchments (megillahs) and read to the public- the news traveling fast on horse to the 127 provinces ruled by Achashverosh as the gate was opened and the riders galloped at full speed to multiple destinations.

The foundations of the palace were poured twenty meters down under the earth and rock providing a sturdy piece of evidence for archeologists thousands of years later. Cedar wood from Lebanon, gold from Turkey, silver from Egypt, ivory from India and Ethiopia, luxurious tapestries decorated the walls, statues of Persian monarchy embellished every hall and stairwell here. Wealth poured, wine poured, in this kingdom that stood during the time of Israel’s first exile.

There were many people assembled as the king wore his crown, scepter in hand- the insignia of royal rule. Looking down from the forth story porch, his view of the feast that went on for 180 days included that of Jews mingling with the masses, eating and drinking from the beautiful stolen vessels of the Temple. It pleased the king greatly. Khuzestan Province, Iran – 486-465 BC.

We are commanded to know this story of Ester. How she was brought here, how the maidens soaked in myrrh for months, how the harems did not prevent her from being the influencing force in saving the Jews from disaster. All the little innuendoes of the megillah we review year after year and we even have a little feast of our own. It is our obligation to remember.

Mordechai did not bow down, there were those who condemned him for it saying it would kindle the wrath of the “goyim”. From beautiful garments described almost identically to those of our Kohanim, there are many parallels here. The first silence of Ester – as the call, so the echo.

We are commanded to hear Parshat Zachor- “Remember what Amalek did to you on the way….” From the time we became a nation till this very day Amalek has been on a mission, as Haman was, to destroy us. It is officially winter but it is hot here in Israel now. I was just telling someone, I feel that don’t need to hear Parshat Zachor, I live it. Iran and its proxies- 2023.

I had the privilege of Walking down to the Kotel this Shabbat, the massive remnant wall of our Temple shining in the afternoon light had a peace that only Jerusalem of gold could have you know – thank you Hashem for this opportunity. Looking up, two doves garnished the crevice between the stones above me.

This is my time to say Thank you Hashem. King of Kings, master of the world, thank you for this chance to stand before your holy palace- what I thank you for in awareness is zero to what I should thank you for. Thank you for helping me, for supporting me, for saving me, for bringing me joy, for healing me, for guarding me, for encouraging me, thank you for always being with me. Thank you for giving me the chance to be a pipeline of bounty to those in need, thank you for enabling me to meet such amazing righteous people who truly have a heart for Israel. This is a time of thanksgiving. Thank you for enabling our family tree to grow and sprout forth new branches.

“Ribbono shel Olam”- who goes to pray at Achashverosh’s outer wall and who comes to pray here? From all walks of life I see people come to be blessed by the true Master of the universe. Our thoughts and prayers turn east.

At this time, I would like to reach out to all our friends to please try and get their friends and family involved in Friends of Itamar in memory of the half shekel as we remember our Temple and prepare the way for it. Now more than ever, the conviction to hold on to our heartland and build it as promised in the prophets must be fulfilled. Wishing you a very happy Purim- with love, appreciation and blessings- may we hear good tidings!

Happy Purim Leah!

PURIM with Rav Avigdor Miller Zt”l

R' Avigdor Miller Zt"l

Based on his books, tapes & Writings of Talmidim

Rescued by Prayer

Actually Haman was more dangerous than Hitler. Hitler didn’t have all the

Jews under his control like Haman did. Hitler, at least, had some shame; he

concealed his wicked deeds in far off concentration camps. Of course there were

other more practical reasons for that, but don’t think it wasn’t this also. Hitler was

full of bluster but he was also ashamed. Haman on the other hand had no qualms at

all; he wanted to wipe out the entire Jewish people without any regard for public

opinion. He wanted it done openly on the streets of all the cities of the empire! A

bloodbath!

Unlimited Power

And he was well-suited for the job; he was a tzorer haYehudim by inheritance,

a born and bred anti-semite. He came from a family whose tradition it was, all the

way back to Amalek, to be bitter enemies to the Jews. Lehavdil, just like we’ll gather

together in the shuls on the Shabbos before Purim to remind ourselves about what

Amalek tried to do to us, don’t think that Amalek was any less dedicated. They had

a bitter hatred for us and they also gathered together in their own places to inflame

their hatred, they handed down their traditions of Jew-hatred from father to son

throughout the generations. And it was a family tradition that Haman loyally

upheld.

And now he had the King’s ring – it means he could do with the Jews as he

pleased. Here’s a man with all the wealth and power, and a fiery Jew-hatred to boot!

It means we were in big trouble. The same thing that happened in Europe should

have happened in Persia too, worse should have happened.

Only that it didn’t. In Europe we lost our nation but in Persia a Purim

happened. Two opposite conclusions to the same story! And so, it’s an important

question: What made Shushan different from Berlin? How could it be that from the

same enemy came such different endings? It’s not just a historical question – it’s a

question of what Hashem wants from us, a question of what lessons we’re supposed

to learn from the Purim story.

A Close Connection

So we look in the Gemara: רַב†מַתְנהָ†אמַָר†מֵהכָאָ†– Rav Masnah, when he gave a

drashah on the Megillah he said a preface by means of quoting a possuk. כִּי†מִי†גוֹי†גָּדוֹל

– Where is there such a great nation like the Am Yisroel, אֲשֶׁר†לוֹ†אֱלקִֹים†קְרבִֹים†אֵלָיו†– who

has Hashem so close to him? (Devarim 4:7). That’s a principle that is repeated

constantly in the Torah. We are His Am Kerovo, the one nation Hashem brings close

to Himself, and Rav Masnah is reminding us that the story of Purim was a unique

demonstration of that.

On that day Hashem pulled the curtain back, the curtain that hides things in

Olam Hazeh, and He showed us that we are the one nation that can feel confident

that Hashem is with us. That’s why Rav Masnah quoted this possuk as an introduction

to his Purim drashah.

However, the Gemara doesn’t quote the possuk in full and it’s very reasonable

to say that Rav Masnah himself, when he gave his drashah, he said the whole possuk:

“Where is there such a nation that has Elokim close to it, בכְּלָ†קָרְאֵנו†אֵליָו†– whenever

we call out to Him.”

“When we call out to Him!” It’s on those last words that the whole story of

Purim devolves. Yes, it’s true that Hashem is close to us and saves us, but those last

three words give depth to the idea. I say depth; actually, those words throw a

monkey wrench into the whole thing because it’s telling us that this promise is

dependent on a certain condition. When do we merit to be that great nation that has

Hashem so close? בְּכָל†קָרְאֵנוּ†אֵלָיו†– Whenever we call out to Him.

When We Cry Out

Oh, that’s something else! Hashem’s closeness, His being our Savior, is not

given as a gift for nothing. It is always given solely in response to our crying out to

Him. That’s the plain meaning of this verse. Yes, He’s close. Yes, our nation can have

Purims all the time, He can always save us, but it has to be בכְּלָ†קָרְאֵנו†אֵליָו†- we have

to cry out to Him.

Now, had they failed in the days of Purim to fulfill those last words then the

story would have been different. There would be a Tisha B’Av instead of a Purim.

Only that we had a Mordechai and an Esther. They saw that we were in trouble and

they got busy planning the salvation of the Jewish nation.

וּ†ׇ†מרְדֳּכַי†יָדַע†אֶת†ׇ†כּל†אֲשֶׁר†נַעֲשָׂה†– Mordechai knew all that was taking place. And the

Gemara says he knew why it was taking place. Mordechai and Esther didn’t blame

it on the gentiles and on anti-semitism. They didn’t make organizations and

seminars about fighting anti-semitism. They knew that there was one reason, one

address: “We have to cry out to Him.”

Mordechai and Esther decided that for such an important event, this was the

biggest catastrophe with which our nation was ever faced, so you have to take

steps that are the most extreme that our nation ever did.

Tefillah and Tzaros

Now, before we go any further, let’s make clear to ourselves what the primary

purpose of tefillah is – it’s an important subject because it’s something that many

people, even good people, never learned. Why do we daven? What are we trying to

achieve? Well, the answer may come as a surprise to you but the purpose of asking

is not to have your request fulfilled; the purpose of tefillah is not that the tefillah

should be answered.

Now, if we’re going to understand what that means, we have to talk first not

about the purpose of tefillah but about the purpose of tzaros. What’s the primary

purpose of any kind of vicissitude, any kind of mishap or difficulty in this world?

And it’s a very important question for us because there’s nobody who doesn’t have

troubles in this world. Big troubles, little troubles; everyone has worries in this

world. Everybody has things they need; health and parnassah, children, shidduchim,

whatever it is. And so it’s important for us to know, what is the purpose of all of

these tzaros? After all, it’s not an accident.

And so we’ll explain that the greatest good that we can acquire in this world

is that we should be aware of Hashem. There’s nothing greater than that. Torah,

mitzvos, gemilus chassodim, excellent; no question about it. But we’re in this world

primarily to become aware of Hashem. It’s not for Him; He doesn’t need it. It’s for

you, for your own perfection. To come into this world and to feel, to be aware that

Hakadosh Baruch Hu is in charge and He is the one to Whom you have to address

yourself for help - that’s the biggest benefit of life. Emunah, Awareness of Hashem,

that’s the great success of a man in this world. The more you’re aware, the more

successful you are.

Saved from the Sword

And so, the purpose of every difficulty that a person encounters is so that the

person should cry out to Hashem for help. You’re not davening because of the

difficulty – the difficulty came to cause you to daven. Why are you having trouble in

the office? So that you should call out to Hashem. Why do you have a headache? So

that you should call out to Hashem. Of course there are other purposes too –

Hakadosh Baruch Hu has more than one thing in Mind – but there is one common

denominator, one underlying purpose that is common to every tzarah; and that is

to make a man ask Hashem for His help.

That’s what it says in the Gemara (Brachos 10a) that a person should never

give up hope; he should never stop asking Hashem for mercy even if a sharp sword

is already on his neck. So some say that it’s because there’s always hope – the

sword is about to cut off your head? No matter! There’s still hope!

But that’s not it. It’s true; absolutely it’s true that Hakadosh Baruch Hu can

save you even when the sword is about to cut you down. But that’s not the primary

reason for davening when the sword is on your neck. It’s much more than that. It’s

because that’s the whole purpose of the sword on his neck; Hashem puts the sword

there so that he should ask for rachamim, so that he should ask Hashem for mercy.

So if a man has a sharp sword on his neck and now he cries out to Hashem

because of that, that’s his success! Whatever happens subsequently is not

important! The biggest achievement is not to get the sword off your neck, because

just to continue living without purpose is unimportant. What’s important is the

calling out to Hashem – to believe in Hashem and to become more and more aware

of Him. That’s the real success. And then, whatever happens with the sword, you’ve

achieved your purpose in life.

The Rabbis in Europe

The truth is there were Mordechais but there was no Am Yisroel to listen to

them. The rabbanim, who listened to them? The gedolim in Europe didn’t have any

influence on the nation at all and I can testify to that. I watched how it progressed,

how it came to be.

I was in Slabodka which was a suburb of Kovno. Now Kovno was the main

town of Lithuania and the Kovno Rov was the most important Torah authority in all

of Lithuania. The most important Torah authority! And yet, no Jewish newspaper

would publish anything that he said.

In Europe, there were many daily newspapers, so called Jewish papers. Did

the words of the chachmei hatorah ever appear in these newspapers? No! The

chachmei hatorah were only mentioned in order to ridicule them. And so if the

Kovno Rav or any of the others would come out with a proclamation that we should

pray to Hashem, they’d all ridicule him. “Ha! What a fool! We’re talking about Hitler,

about war, about serious things, and this foolish old man is talking about davening.”

At most, the Kovno Rav if he would have the boldness, he could print up some

leaflets and post them in some batei midrashos. But the people didn’t come to the

batei midrashos anyhow — very few people came. I was in Slabodka. I’m telling you

the truth. Nobody came and nobody listened to him. They listened to the writers in

the newspapers, to atheists!

The Yeshivos in Europe

I’m sure that he himself prayed. In the Slabodka Yeshivah they prayed. I was

present in Slabodka when Hitler marched into Sudetenland, and they prayed; oh,

how they prayed. No question that in all the yeshivos they said tehillim. They split

the ceiling with their tehillim. But what did the yeshivos count in a great mass of

people? The yeshivos were batel, not b’shishim; they were batel b’elef, b’revovos! A

little spot, let’s say, in Slabodka - one place, a yeshivah; but outside of Slabodka,

who listened to the Rosh Yeshivah of Slabodka?

You have to know that the yeshivah people with their rebbes were only a drop

in the ocean of European Jewry and they didn’t have anybody who listened to them.

An adam gadol, Reb Elcohonon, said this. I remember, because I was in Europe at

that time. I left Europe in 1938 just when Hitler was already in power. When Hitler

started marching, that’s when I decided that I had better go home.

Now, at that time Rav Elchonon said the following: “All Jewry in Europe is

divided into two groups,” he said. “On one side is the Bnei Torah, the yeshivah

people. And on the other side are the masses of people who are heading away from

the Torah.”

Now, it doesn’t mean all the Jews were mechallel Shabbos, no. But even the

Jews who kept Shabbos and kashrus and everything else, were no longer on the

side of the roshei yeshivos. Because their leaders were the irreligious ones. They

read their newspapers and in their heads were their ideas of the wrong people.

Those who were in the yeshivos were a small band. They were excellent

yeshivos, much better than American yeshivos. But they were isolated from the

people. “And therefore,” Reb Elchonon said, “The general population did not come

together to cry out to Hashem.”

Everything is Upside Down

But in the days of Purim we prayed. We cried and prayed and cried and

prayed. And what happened because we prayed? The promise of Hashem was

fulfilled. כִּי†מִי†גוֹי†גָּדוֹל†– Where is there such a great nation like the Am Yisroel, אשֲֶׁר†ל†ו†ֹ

אלֱקִֹים†קְרבֹיִם†אלֵיָו†– who has Hashem so close to Him? בכְּלָ†קָרְאֵנו†אֵליָו†– we called out to

Hashem!

Things started happening as a result of their crying out. You read about it in

the Megillah. This happened and that happened and suddenly ונְהֲַפוךֹ†הואּ†! Everything

turned upside down! They cried out so much from the bottom of their hearts that

Hashem turned it upside down. Haman is hanging!

You know why it happened? Because of a different ונְהֲַפוךֹ†הואּ†, a more important

ונְהֲַפוךֹ†הואּ†. The Jewish nation became turned upside down! The Am Yisroel became

more aware of Hashem, more than ever before! We were always a good people, an

excellent people, but now the excellent people became even better than before.

ונְהֲַפוךֹ†הואּ†– They became new people; they were turned upside down by means of

calling out to Hashem!

And that’s how the tragedy, the most terrible tragedy chalilah they were

threatened with, became a great simchah that every year Jews celebrate it in the

most wild happiness. The worst tragedy changed into the wildest happiness

because we were changed. Purim became the wildest, happiest, day of the year

because they cried out to Hashem. And Hashem heard and said, “All right. I

accomplished My purpose. Now I don’t need any tzaros. From now on I’m going to

give them a nice Purim seudah, a nice big day of simchah, instead. And let them

remember Me in happiness instead of troubles.”

And so we come back now to what Purim is all about. What did we say on

that first Purim? “We’ll remember You, Hakodosh Boruch Hu! We won’t ever

forget! וִימֵי†הַפּוּרִים†הָאֵלֶּה†לאֹ†יַעַבְרוּ†מִתּוֹךְ†הַיְּהוּדִים†, Purim will forever be celebrated by the

Jewish people.”

Hook or Crook

That’s the bargain we made with Hashem and that’s one of the important

lessons of Purim. One way or another, hook or by crook, we’re going to be

thinking about Hashem. And the best thing is when it’s by the hook of good times.

That’s what we’ll choose; the Awareness of Hashem through simcha instead of

tzaros.

What do you think about as you sit down to eat and drink? What are you

thinking about when you listen to the Megillah and when you’re sending mishloach

manos and matanos la’evyonim? Who caused this whole story? Who made

Haman? Who gave him so much power? Hakadosh Baruch Hu caused it. Why did

He cause it? Because He wants us to call out to Him. And we did! That’s why we

were saved.

That’s what Purim is for! The seudah tastes good. You’re enjoying yourself.

The whole family is there. You’re getting gifts and sending gifts – we’re so happy

to be alive, so happy that Hashem saved us that we’re sending gifts to one another

– and you’re a little bit intoxicated. Oh, that’s the best time. The best time for

what? To remember Hashem. “Oh! Boruch Hashem! Boruch Hashem! We thank

You! We remember You. We’re thinking about You!”

US AMBASSADOR “THREATENS” BETZALEL SMOTRICH ?

US Ambassador Slams Smotrich, ‘Would Throw Him Out of the Plane’

US Ambassador to Israel Tom Nides slammed Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich on Friday in a fiery statement calling him “stupid” and saying he would “throw him out of the plane” to Washington, according to a report Friday in the Hebrew-language edition of Israel Hayom, quoting a report by Israel’s Channel 12 News.

Responding to the undiplomatic statement by the US Ambassador, Smotrich released a statement:
“I am not angry at the US Ambassador to Israel, and I am convinced he did not intend to incite to kill me when he said that I should be thrown out of the plane, exactly as I did not intend harm against innocents when I said Huwara should be wiped out. People sometimes use strong expressions which they don’t mean literally, in order to convey a harsh message. It happens to everyone.”

Nides’ condemnation came in response to words by the Finance Minister earlier this week in which he liked a tweet in which Davidi Ben Zion, deputy head of the Samaria regional council, said the terrorist hotbed town of Huwara “a village that should be wiped out.”

Smotrich said he retweeted the statement because he believes the town should be wiped out, but by the state, and not by mob anarchy.

Ben Zion subsequently retracted his statement, and Smotrich issued a clarification as well.
“To avoid all doubt: in my words I did not mean to wipe out the village of Huwara, but only to act in a targeted manner against the terrorists and supporters of terrorism within the town and to exact a heavy price from them in order to restore security to the residents of the area,” he wrote in a tweet.

The harsh words followed the execution-style murders of two Israeli brothers by a terrorist who shot them at point-blank range as their vehicle stood in traffic in the center of Huwara.

Prime Minister Netanyahu praised Smotrich for clarifying his comment, and pointed out that foreign diplomats [referring to Nides] make mistakes too.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated:
“It is important that Finance Minister Smotrich clarified that he had no intention of harming the innocent or collective punishment. I know his positions and they were reflected in his clarification.
None of us are without mistakes, including foreign diplomats. Israel’s policy is clear: fight aggressively against terrorists and supporters of terrorism, avoid harming the innocent and collective punishment.
Until this moment, the Palestinian Authority has not condemned the murder of the two wonderful brothers, Yigal and Hillel Yaniv, and I regret that there are those in the international community who rushed to condemn Israel but have not yet demanded this necessary condemnation from the Palestinian Authority.”

Dozens of local Jewish residents flooded into Huwara after the murders, and torched homes and local businesses.

It is not the first time Jews have been attacked in Huwara, which they are forced to drive through when traveling to and from Samaria, because there is no bypass road that allows them to avoid the town.
Smotrich called on Jewish residents in the region to to “let the government do its job” and not to take the law into their own hands.

But will the defense and security apparatus do their job??
Not sufficient. A new plan of action is needed.

“I’m really angry with him,” Nides said. “He is stupid. He has a flight to Washington with [Israeli businessman] Danny Naveh and if I could, I would throw him off the plane.”

The US Embassy in Jerusalem initially declined to comment, and later in the evening said that the ambassador denied the allegations, according to Channel 12.

On Wednesday, State Department spokesperson also attacked Smotrich, calling his statement “repulsive, inappropriate” and saying his words “amount to incitement to violence.”

Reports that the Biden Administration considered blocking a visa for Smotrich to visit the United States to address a Jewish gathering were not confirmed, and at least one Israeli news outlet opined it was “unlikely” the Finance Minister would not receive a visa to travel. Reports that Biden Administration officials were refusing to meet with Smotrich were debunked by the minister’s spokesperson, who said Smotrich had never requested such a meeting.

Egypt likewise issued its own statement condemning Smotrich’s words, claiming “these statements express a dangerous and unacceptable incitement to violence which contradicts all laws and moral values. The statements are devoid of responsibility that should be held by any senior official engaged in a public position. Similar condemnations came from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Jordan. Saudi Arabia issued a particularly harsh condemnation and continued to accuse Israel of “occupying” Palestinian Authority territory.

“The Kingdom strongly condemns the extreme statement of one of the senior officials of the Israeli occupation who called for the destruction of the Palestinian village of Huwara,” the Saudi Arabian Foreign Ministry said in its statement. “The Kingdom firmly opposes this racist and irresponsible statement that shows the extent of the violence and extremism of the occupying Israeli entity towards the Palestinian people. The international community must bear responsibility and deter measures of this type and provide protection to Palestinian citizens,” Riyadh declared.

Riyadh, your palestinian citizen terrorists kill Jews and Israelis
and are supremely racist in their supreme incitement against Israel and Israeli Jews.

Not one similar condemnation has ever been issued against the ongoing incitement against Israel by Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas, nor against the leaders of multiple terrorist organizations residing comfortably in the Palestinian Authority, training generations of children to join their terrorist ranks.

Residents of Judea and Samaria have endured multiple attacks – daily – for years.

A brief sample just from Friday night:
  • Arab terrorists hurled flaming Molotov cocktails toward vehicles traveling in Gush Etzion. No injuries were reported.
  • Later the same night, more terrorists opened fire at a 65-year-old commercial driver as he travelled in the Mount Hebron area near the Beit Hagai junction. The driver, who was wounded in the leg, was treated by local medics from Hatzalah Without Borders and then taken to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem.
  • Just three hours later, terrorists from Jelazoun hurled a pipe bomb while driving past an IDF outpost in Judea and Samaria. No casualties were reported.

Owner of Huwara Car Lot Jews Set on Fire a *Released Terrorist

Makharev managed to put up a post in support of the drive-by shooting that killed Hallel and Yagel Yaniv Hy’d – just hours before his business was set on fire. In his post, the released terrorist boasted that the real Aqaba summit was run by the killers of the two Jewish brothers in Huwara and that Ben Gvir was welcome to join the summit. His son Kassam also expresses support for terrorists and terrorism and posts photos of terrorists who were killed by the IDF. Like his father, he also posts pictures of himself brandishing a Kalashnikov.

After the attack in Jericho in which 27-year-old Israeli-American Elan Ganeles was murdered, Makharev expressed his joy live on Facebook, from a convoy of vehicles of Shechem Arabs who rejoiced over the murder. In the video, the person sitting next to Makharev is heard telling him that rumors say there were six murdered, and he joyfully responds: “May there be many more.”

[Editor’s Note:  Labor party member Yaya Fink raised hundreds of thousands of dollars from Israelis for residents of Huwara. Fink told Ynet that he was contacting local leaders in Huwara via former Israeli security personnel to discuss distribution of the funds. He added that background checks will be carried out to prevent any of the money from going to those with a history of security violations. Looks like giving money to Makharev might pose a problem.]

*HaKol HaYehudi’s investigation revealed that Eid Makharev, owner of a car lot for spare parts that was set on fire earlier this week, is a released terrorist who spent five years in security prison during the 2nd Intifada.

On his Facebook page, Makharev expresses support for terrorists, including Shechem and Jenin terrorists. In addition, he describes his time in prison together with his friend Nasser Abu Hamad, one of the arch-murderers from the al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, whom he regularly praises. He posts pictures of himself with a weapon and a picture from Megido prison where he served time.

The US Remember: Those in glass white houses should not throw stones at anyone!

The US State Department condemned Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich's remarks that he wished the Arab village of Huwara would be "wiped out.”

State Department spokesperson Ned Price called Smotrich's comments "irresponsible, repugnant. and disgusting.” [REALLY??] "Just as we condemn Palestinian incitement to violence, we condemn these provocative remarks that also amounts to incitement to violence," Price said. He added: "We call on Prime Minister Netanyahu and other senior Israeli officials to publicly and clearly reject and disavow these comments.”
^ ^ ^
During a financial conference hosted by The Marker business daily, Smotrich was asked why he had liked “liked” a tweet by Samaria Regional Council deputy mayor Davidi Ben Zion calling “to wipe out the village of Huwara today.”

Smotrich replied: "Because I think the village of Huwara needs to be wiped out. I think the State of Israel should do it.” "G-d forbid,” the job shouldn’t be done by private citizens," he added, condemning the riots by Jews in Huwara.

“We shouldn’t be dragged into anarchy in which civilians take the law into their own hands."

The riots and comments about Huwara followed the murder of two brothers in a drive-by shooting by terrorists from the village on Sunday afternoon.

TV report: US mulling preventing Smotrich from entering the country

An US official quoted by Channel 12 News said on Saturday night that the administration is considering preventing Minister Bezalel Smotrich from entering the United States, following his comments that the Arab village of Huwara should be “wiped out”.
The official said that it would be better for Smotrich to announce of his own accord that he is canceling the visit, and "save himself the embarrassment, since all Biden administration officials refused to meet with him anyway."
Smotrich is scheduled to depart for the US this week and take part in an Israel Bonds conference.
According to a report by Channel 12 News’ Dana Weiss, discussions are currently taking place in Washington on whether to grant Smotrich an entry visa, partly on the grounds that he incites violence and promotes war crimes. More here http://www.israelnationalnews.com/news/368261

“There are tyrannical laws, there are immoral laws, there are Nazi laws. […] The law you’re using is Nazi, tyrannical, immoral; and an immoral law is also illegal.”

In Israeli law, administrative detention originally inherited its authority from the Defense (Emergency) Regulations of 1945 that have been in effect since the British Mandate. In 1951, MK Menachem Begin attacked the practice, saying: “There are tyrannical laws, there are immoral laws, there are Nazi laws. […] The law you’re using is Nazi, tyrannical, immoral; and an immoral law is also illegal.”

Criticism of the anti-democratic detention was limited to Israeli right-leaning news outlets. Haaretz et al saw nothing particularly wrong with it.

National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir was Irate at Gallant: “Precisely during the days when the heroic settlers in Judea and Samaria are suffering from murderous terrorism, the defense minister chooses to issue two administrative detention warrants against two Jews, one of whom is a minor (!), while preferring a policy of ‘inclusion’ regarding the terrorists, and this is regrettable.

“Despite the fact that the court ordered the release of the two Jewish detainees, those who issued the order chose to bypass the court in an unusual and severe procedure contrary to a democratic worldview. I will contact Gallant and the Prime Minister this evening and demand clarification on this anti-democratic decision.”

Kan 11 cited security officials who claimed the two detainees “planned other dangerous actions, besides their participation in the riots in Huwara.” But, of course, they had no evidence against them, since had they had a shred of evidence, they would have taken the two to court.

Another security official insisted the ant-democratic move was actually helping the settlers: “The actions of the two detainees harm most of all the settlements – which oppose violent activity like the one they are leading, that tarnishes an entire community of law-abiding and lovers of the country.”

We’re throwing you in jail without due process because it’s good for you, see?

Gallant, for his part, called Ben Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich “a fifth column in the cabinet” for their support of the settlers’ side in the war on terrorism.

Honenu attorney Adi Keider stated that “while on the Arab networks, the incitement is being celebrated, and on the ground, there’s a complete loss of control by the IDF over attackers using stones, firearms, and Molotov cocktails against Jews, the defense minister sees himself as a higher authority above two courts that ordered their release, serves as a rubber stamp for the Shin Bet against Jews.”

“The Shin Bet continues the war of attrition against the settlers while it turns a blind eye to severe incitement from the left that leads to anarchy and widespread disorder throughout the country,” Keidar stressed.

As things stand these days, should Netanyahu replaces Gallant with Gantz, it would take us weeks to realize it.

please replace the anti-settler and anti-honesty of the judgments of the Defense Minister; totally inappropriate for the State of Israel.

“The country is burning and Sara is getting a haircut," they shouted.

Those insane anarchists claim that  “Israel is burning” from the outrage over the “Judicial Revision” BUT maybe all the fires claiming Jewish lives, children and parents, is because of your rage against fellow Jews because yo are afraid of the future and lost the bonefide election?
