Tel Aviv’s Secret Op: 130 Shuls Must Operate With ‘Equality’ Or Be Evicted By The Municipality
Shortly before the October 7 massacre in 2023, unprecedented clashes between Jews took place on the holiest day of the year due to the actions of the Tel Aviv municipality, which banned gender-segregated tefillos on the streets of the city (despite allowing Arabs to hold gender-segregated prayers on the street.)
Two years later, the Tel Aviv Municipality is carrying out a new clandestine operation targeting over 100 shuls in the city, demanding that they operate in violation of halacha or face eviction, a Ynet report revealed on Sunday. Some shuls signed the agreement, and others that refused to sign are in court fighting eviction orders.
There are hundreds of active shuls in Tel Aviv, with some built on land allocated for that purpose by the city and others on privately purchased land. However, 130 shuls are not officially registered, or their registration is incomplete, and their land is listed in Israel’s Land Registry (Tabu) as owned by the municipality.
These are the shuls being targeted in the operation—with the municipality demanding that they adhere to “equality” principles—”without distinctions of gender or faith”—and their “nusach tefillah be set by its management committee accordingly.” Municipality officials declared that “no activities deviating from these principles will be allowed, or the shuls will be evicted.”
In one case, the Beis Din declared the Tiferet Tzvi shul as a religious endowment and prevented the municipality from taking it over. In response, the municipality filed a petition with the Supreme Court against the Beis Din, which is still pending.
It should be noted that the municipality is not requiring mosques in Tel Aviv to sign the agreement.
Shul leaders warn of far-reaching consequences: “If this demand passes, it will mean one thing—the systematic silencing of Jewish mesorah in the name of ‘equality.’ Shuls will be forced to choose between faithfulness to halacha or basic survival.”

There is an idea that the kehila is all important. Here's what I mean. If theses shuls had the courage to just close then, or definitely not daven there....moving to the shuls that follow halacha, those shuls will be packed and from experience a packed davening is so beautiful. One year in Waterbury at Shavuos there was a lightening storm that closed off the beis medrash. The whole kehila davened together in the main shul and I feel like Hashem was all for it, even thought it was hashgacha..and i enjoyed it immensely. Hashen speaks to us in everything, there is another layer to this story for those with eyes to See.

If ever there were heretics, they top them all!
I worry for the Jews in Tel Aviv because all they do is multiply in sin!
The ones who come up with these evil decrees are the personification
of real EREV RAV AMALEIKIM! We are seeing all the signs of pre-Moshiach!
It just gets worse every day until the light will dawn!

Leah, I think that’s when they are more or less on the same page. But these people want to reduce the sacred davening to a mish mash of inclusivity. Do you realize what that would mean? The pre-“Oct 7” davening had bathing suit attendance! At the Bima! We all know what happened Succot after that!
Continuing this dialigue, yes, fully aware of erev rav ways, but it's NOW more than ever, about OUR reaction, us making changes. This goes hand in hand with making aliyah. ARE RABBEIM WILLING TO GIVE UP KAVOD, MOVE ON FROM OWNERSHIP AND RULERSHIP, TO INSTEAD BE JUST ANOTHER REGULAR JEW ....but at least in a way that is Holy and True??????????

Sorry, I don't see your point. One must reflect life up to the Torah for guidance and a path to follow. We still have 'some' great Torah voices for guidance, even if they are not living with us now.
I don't see a relation to our comments. Do you think the frum people of those 130 shuls will attend, probably not. But the real question, do you think the rebbeim will walk away from them if the rules are enforced??

If any of those 'synagogues' want to remain Halachic Kosher Jewish Synagogues they must not participate. Many have done just that and are fighting this in court. The ones that tag along can now be called "Jewish Flavored Synagogues" or "Conservative" or "Reform", BTW Reform is what they really want but are afraid to actually 'cut off' from a real Jewish connection, even if its only once or twice a year.
Why do they need 130 Synagogues anyway? Its difficult to believe that there are that many Real Kosher Jews in Tel Aviv? What are they doing there in the first place? Tell me.....
And TA is not accosting the Mosques to do the same!!! They know what would happen if they tried.
