Twenty-eight months after October 7, Israel still has no agreed national inquiry. In a deeply divided society, many already believe they know who is to blame.
Some point to the government. Others to the army and the courts. Beneath the arguments lies something more fundamental – a profound lack of trust.
The Torah offers a powerful contrast. At Sinai, our forebears declared “na’aseh v’nishma – we will do, and we will understand.” How could they commit before knowing? Because they trusted. Having witnessed redemption from Egypt, they knew that Hashem was trustworthy, and that His will was for their good.
Trust is the currency upon which relationships, leadership, and society depend. Without it, we reach paralysis. With it, we can move forward honestly and responsibly.
May we become people who are trustworthy, who nurture trust, and who seek truth without foregone conclusions.
