In the 5750s, the Lubavitcher Rebbe made a custom of noting possible acronyms made up of the letters of the year.
The first two letters (which do not change throughout an entire century) always stand for, “May it be a year of” (תְּהֵא שְׁנַת ). What changes is the reference made by the final two letters, in our case עא .
Following the Rebbe’s example,
let us say that they stand for “Divine aid”
(עֵזֶר אֱלֹקִי ).
Thus the simple acronym of the coming year, 771, is
May it be a year of Divine aid (תְּהֵא שְׁנַת עֵזֶר אֱלֹקִי ).
The first phrase that we will look at that equals 771 is taken from the Bible, specifically from the Book of Daniel. To understand this phrase, let us quote from the beginning of chapter 8 in Daniel,
In the third year of the reign of king Belshatzar,
a vision appeared to be, I Daniel… behold, ...
