Before You Believe the “Settler Violence” Headlines, Watch This

This other week, the jihadi village of Qusra was back in the news with the same dishonest script: Jews blamed, “settler extremists” accused, Jewish self-defense treated as the scandal. That framing is a lie. Jihadis attacked Jews. Jews retaliated. The media and too many Israeli officials still blamed the Jews. In this video Avi Abelow breaks down what the headlines refuse to say about Qusra, Judea and Samaria, hilltop youth, illegal Palestinian Authority construction, and the collapse of deterrence after Oslo. First, young Jews are filling a vacuum the IDF left open. A healthy nation does not need civilians to impose a price on attackers. That is the army’s job. But restrictive rules of engagement taught the jihadi population a dangerous lesson: attack Jews, then watch the Jewish response become the international story. Deterrence has to come before the next ambush, not after it. Second, this is a 30-year land war the Palestinian Authority has been winning. With European Union money, the PA spreads illegal building onto empty strategic ridges overlooking Jewish communities and roads. The house outside Qusra was not a random home. Whoever holds that mountain holds eyes on Jewish life below. Hilltop farms and outposts exist because someone finally moved to stop that takeover. Third, U.S. citizenship is being used as a weapon against Israel. The builder’s American passport pulls in the U.S. embassy and turns a local clash into pressure on Israeli policy in Judea and Samaria, even under a pro-Israel administration. Israel should say the truth out loud instead of issuing vague apologies. Fourth, the Palestinian Authority is not a peace partner. It fields more than 60,000 armed, U.S.-trained men. Hamas sent a few thousand on October 7. Pretending the PA is a municipal police force is denial. Qusra is not a story about a few angry kids on a hill.
