A historic and deeply stirring educational address delivered by the Mashgiach of "Sha'arei Shmuot" Yeshiva, Rabbi Yaakov Sternschuss Shlit"a, at the annual "Seder Hachana" conference by the "Dirshu" organization in Bnei Brak, attended by 4,000 yeshiva students.
In his powerful, fire-filled speech, the Mashgiach touches upon two heart-wrenching topics:
1. The tragic and moving story of the late yeshiva student, Yehoshua Rem z"l, who passed away suddenly during vacation, and the private journal found by his grieving mother after the Shiva—a journal in which he recorded daily points of spiritual growth based on the rules he had learned at the previous preparation conference.
2. The shocking analogy of the "Remedia Tragedy": How the lack of just one single vitamin (Vitamin B1/Thiamine) in a baby's formula led to irreversible damage or death. The Mashgiach explains that Yeshiva Gedola is an "incubator" supplying vital vitamins: Torah study, prayer, yeshiva schedules, Mussar, and character development. Lacking even one of these "vitamins" can affect a student for the rest of his life.
An essential guide and dramatic wake-up call for yeshiva students and their families before the beginning of the Elul Zman
