The essay we read in part 39 of The Prophetic Teachings of Rav Elchonon Wasserman was written in 1935, but it could have been written today.
On the cusp of the Holocaust, Rav Wasserman clearly articulated why Jewish blood had become free in the eyes of the nations, why Jewish life was less respected than animal life, why there was an explosion of newspapers whose main purpose was to mock and besmirch the Jewish people, and why Jewish practices were being outlawed.

What was true back then remains true today. History repeats itself until we finally get it right.
