Part 11 concluded Rav Wasserman’s lengthy essay on the footsteps of Moshiach, and there is so much packed into this class.
One of the most essential points we discussed was that the settlement of Jews in Eretz Yisrael who are waging war against Hashem is not only not a mitzvah, but it brings the worst churban upon us.
Rav Wasserman was in favor of Jews returning to Eretz Yisrael, but he specifically opposed the rebellious Zionist movement, which viewed nationalism as a substitute for the Torah, and essentially created a new “Torah” centered around nationalism. As Rav Wasserman writes:
Settling the Land of Israel is a mitzvah, but settling groups of Jews who rebel against Hashem out spite is a great sin, and not a mitzvah; this is not building but destroying the land. “These are not the guardians of the city but the destroyers of the city” (Eicha Rabba, Introduction 2).
Turn off the controlled media and detox with these powerful teachings from Rav Elchonon Wasserman and the Chofetz Chaim, presented on a silver platter. The class is also available on Rumble here.
Next week we will continue with essays of Rav Wasserman for which, as far as I know, there is no English translation. The link to join the live classes is here.
