NOON: 2.4 Millionim Voted

JERUSALEM — Nearly 2.4 million Israelis had voted by noon Tuesday in elections for the country’s 26th Knesset, marking the highest voter turnout at that hour since 1973, according to the Central Elections Committee.

Turnout reached 31.5% of eligible voters by noon, up from 28.4% at the same point in the 2022 election. More than 7.3 million Israelis are eligible to vote in the nationwide election, which will determine the composition of the Knesset and influence the formation of the next government.

Polling stations opened at 7 a.m. and are scheduled to close at 10 p.m. local time, with exit polls expected shortly afterward. Voting will continue for people already waiting in line when their polling station closes.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife, Sara, voted at a polling station in Jerusalem around noon. Netanyahu urged Israelis to participate, calling the election a pivotal moment for the country.

The election comes amid a closely contested political race, with Netanyahu seeking to retain power following the Hamas-led Oct. 7, 2023, attack and the wars that followed. Former military chief Gadi Eisenkot is leading a broad opposition challenge, while Arab-led parties could play a significant role if neither major political bloc secures a parliamentary majority.

RE:  vs philanthropist’s efforts to pay Israeli’s not to vote!
The government should not allow him in if it is known that this is his intention. Ehrlich Yidden following the gedolei Yisroel such as the Chazon Ish, The Belzer Rebbe R’ Aharon, The Imrei Emes, The Bais Yisroel, The Klusenberger Rebbe, Rav Shach, the Steipler, and many many more, that it is a mitzva to vote in Eretz Yisroel, should not be bought out.
