"Some worlds have more than one sun in their sky. Now scientists say they've confirmed the existence of the largest-ever planet orbiting a pair of binary stars – a gas giant with the same mass and radius as Jupiter. Exoplanets like this one – situated in their stars' habitable zone and massive enough to lasso in many rocky moons – could be an interesting place to go looking for signs of alien life.

"The newly confirmed behemoth has been dubbed Kepler-1647 b, and it sits 3,700 light-years away in the constellation Cygnus. At an estimated 4.4 billion years old, it's roughly the same age as Earth. But it's nothing like our home planet. It's what is known as a circumbinary world – one that orbits two suns that dance together as a binary pair – and it's the size of Jupiter, a planet with a diameter more than 11 times that of Earth's. Its suns are pretty similar to our own (one is slightly smaller and the other slightly larger) but, well, there are two of them.

"The first transit was detected way back in 2011, but with one transit it's hard or impossible to tell what's going on,” […] "So we had to wait for three years for the planet to transit again, during which time we kept a close eye in the system, analyzing the available data and gathering new observations.”

"Habitability aside, Kepler-1647 b is important because it is the tip of the iceberg of a theoretically predicted population of large, long-period circumbinary planets," study co-author William Welsh of San Diego State University said in a statement:

"New planet is largest discovered that orbits 2 suns –  Kepler-1647 b is the largest planet, both in size and orbit, of any circumbinary planet discovered so far (SAN DIEGO STATE UNIVERSITY) EUREKALERT

SAN DIEGO (June 13, 2016) – If you cast your eyes toward the constellation Cygnus, you'll be looking in the direction of the largest planet yet discovered around a double-star system. It's too faint to see with the naked eye, but a team led by astronomers from NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center and San Diego State University used the Kepler Space Telescope to identify the new planet, Kepler-1647 b. The discovery was announced today in San Diego, at a meeting of the American Astronomical Society. [… ]  

"It's a bit curious that this biggest planet took so long to confirm, since it is easier to find big planets than small ones," said SDSU astronomer Jerome Orosz, another coauthor on the study. "It took so long to confirm because its orbital period is so long."

Sounds like a Nibiru orbital to me?

What purpose is served by the vastness of the Universe?*

Why the countless millions of huge worlds in teeming oceans of light, out in the seemingly endless stretches of space?

We possess the key to this riddle, “G-D made, so that they should fear Him.”

“The Good One created this glory for His name”(from the morning Yotzer). Had our earth been surrounded by a dome of finite dimensions, we would have a finite estimate of the Creator’s greatness. In order to be presented with an example of His immeasurability, we are given the opportunity to gaze into space. Men may send rocket ships further and further, but no end comes into sight. Our telescopes penetrate into endless distances, but they merely discover the vast void beyond their range. The illimitability of the physical Universe shatters all smallness of concept. 

But this Universe is a grain of sand to its Creator. 

Compared to Him, His Creation is as nought. To realize this, then, is the greatest of purposes. To soar through space at fabulous speed on the way to the moon, is to discover what the Torah always teaches but what men never really learn: that G-D is infinite. When on the moon, men see that they have not even begun to penetrate Space. 

The moon is but a prisoner of the earth’s gravity; it is our nearest neighbor and our back yard. Yet even so it is a tremendous distance from the earth. Then how vast is the distance to the outer reaches of the solar system which spins around the sun?But the sun is a minor star (the star Rigel is 13,000 times as bright as the sun) among 100 billion in a galaxy which is in itself inconsiderable among countless galaxies in the vast endlessness. 

Traveling at 11 million miles per minute, we could reach the moon in one second; but to reach Rigel (in our galaxy) would take 500 years. A single cluster, Hercules, is estimated at a million stars, 35 thousand of which are much brighter than the sun. And the whole, whatever its measureless dimensions are, is the handiwork of the creator, Who willed it into existence and Who wills its continued existence. 

But this is merely the lobby.

WHY DAVID MUST COME FROM THE MOST REVILED NATION

There is a magnificent chapter in The Book of Our Heritage (the classic translation of Sefer HaToda’ah by Rabbi Eliyahu Kitov zt”l), which I have the custom of reading aloud to the family on Shavuos. It is called “Rus and David,” and I cry every time I read it.

David’s personality is so expansive that it seems to touch the very depths of the earth and reach upward to the Throne of Glory. David is as real as you can get. This is why David is worthy to be King of Israel and the progenitor of the Messiah. Today we have “leaders” who choose their words according to survey results. King David, on the other hand, spoke so straight that his words often seemed to his own detriment. He was not afraid to say, “I am a worm and not a man, scorn of humanity, despised of people!” (Psalm 22:7) Does this sound as if he is running for office? No, my friends, it is more like he is running away from office!

Only one who thinks of himself as the lowest of the low is able to be the King of Israel. We need straight people, people who are not posturing for the camera. The King has to be infinitely above corruption, a man who will not prostrate himself before the idolatrous popular standards of decadence and corruption. The King has to believe that he belongs in the dust bin, because he knows and shows that only G-d lifts us out of the dust bin.

“Mikimi mai’afar dal … He raises the needy from the dust, from the trash heaps He lifts the destitute, to seat them with nobles, with the nobles of His people” (Psalm 113).

Why is King David associated with the time of the Giving of our Torah? And why did he have to come from Ruth the Moabite, the eternally-shining light who arose from the most reviled nation? Please listen to Rabbi Kitov.

“David … was the mightiest of kings, the most pious of the pious, wisest among the wise, humble among the modest, and the most glorious of poets who sang praise before G-d. Notwithstanding all this, no one suffered as much anguish in his life as David… which did not leave him until his very last day…. David himself testified to his anguish: ‘Save me, G-d, for the waters (that threaten to drown me) have reached my very soul.’

“Sent away from his own home, a pariah in the community … David found rich pasture and clear, flowing waters for his soul, which thirsted for G-d, in the wilderness to which he fled. There, where no one knew him or saw him, he sought to draw close to G-d … free from the love of his fellow man and their longing for him, and free from their enmity…”

Why was it necessary for David to flee? Why was he so hated and ostracized? Why was his light so concealed? Why, in fact, was the light of Ruth, his great grandmother, so concealed as to have been buried for some seven hundred years (Kitov) in the trash heap of Moab, the most reviled nation on earth? Finally, what does all this have to do with Shavuos?

My friends, we are dealing here with reality. Since mankind was expelled from the Garden of Eden – as a result of our First Parents’ rebellion against G-d – we have lived in darkness. The great light which shone in the Garden of Eden has been taken away from us. We have forfeited the spiritual purity required to be able to benefit from that light. Our souls have gone after the desires of our senses, just as Eve and Adam forfeited everything because they desired to eat one fruit. With each passing minute of our exile from the Garden of Eden, we have “followed our hearts and our eyes” ever lower into the trash bin, searching for ever more exotic fruit, lower and lower into the darkness, further and further from our Father in Heaven.

The only relief in mankind’s downward plunge has come from the Torah which G-d gave to His Holy Nation at Mount Sinai. Except for that, mankind’s entire history has been to descend deeper into the trash heap.

This is why the Messiah must come from the trash heap! This is why the Messiah must come from Moab, and David must come from Ruth. There is no other way! This is where we are and this is our only way out! But we have to know: there is a way out!

Why was David so reviled and ostracized? Because the majority of mankind is living in the trash heap. When they see someone who has ascended to spiritual greatness and is cleaving to the Ruler of the Universe, they try to pull that person down to their level. They themselves despair of arising from the depths. They have given up, and they cannot tolerate to see someone who has not only not given up, but who has in fact succeeded in rising to celestial heights.

The choice is ours. We can ascend like King David! But in order to do so, we must acknowledge our own nature and cry out with him, “Ana Hashem Hoshia na … Please, G-d, save now! Please G-d, save now!” In order to rise to the heights of the universe, it is first necessary to acknowledge that we are in the trash heap. Only then can we cry out with all our strength. This is Passover, where we began at the forty-ninth level of impurity. This is the Counting of the Omer, where we climb upward, step by step. And this is Shavuos, where, if we will so merit, G-d will give us the Torah and save us with the coming of the Messiah the Son of David!

The Rambam and π – Some Information About π and a Recipe

The Rambam [12C] described π as being an irrational number.  

Various ancient Greek writers, including Hero, Eutocius, and Simplicius, understand the difficulty of finding an exact value for the ratio, and seem to realize the possibility of its being irrational; hence this

"Recipe for Pi:

“Add four to 100, 

multiply by eight and 

then add 62,000  …

” Stir this 5th C idea and bake a number of years to equal this 18th C:  ratio of the length of a circumference to its diameter – [also comes out] irrational"

The fifth-century Indian mathematician Aryabhata wrote that “Add four to 100, multiply by eight and then add 62,000. By this rule the circumference of a circle of diameter 20,000 can be approached.” The 15th century commentator Nilakantha Somayaji interprets the original words as saying that not that is this an approximation, but that the value is irrational.

Then, at the turn of the ninth century, the Persian mathematician Muhammad Al-Khwarizmi notes that there are several different methods for calculating π  A marginal note (not sure when it was written) observes that "It is an approximation not a proof, and no one stands on the truth of this, and no one but Allah knows the true circumference of the circle, as the line is not straight and has no beginning and no end, we merely attempt to approximate and discover the root, but even the root has no definition as no one may know its exact value but Allah, and the best of these approximations that is to multiply the diameter by three and seventh as it is faster and simpler and only Allah might know it true."

The Muslim scholar Abu al-Rayhan al-Biruni, who lived from 973-1048, was familiar with Aryabhata's works. In The Encyclopedia of the History of Arabic Science, [Roshdi Rashed ed.], vol. 2, London/New York, 1996, p. 454), Boris Rosenfeld and Youschkevitch note that al-Biruni described π as irrational. In their discussion of medieval Arabic science, they further note that "...Arabic mathematicians repeatedly expressed their belief that the ratio of the length of a circumference to its diameter was irrational… Subsequent European mathematicians were also sure that π is irrational but only J. H. Lambert, a native of Alsace, in 1766 succeeded in proving this."

In light of all this, it can hardly be seen as surprising that, just as the early Greeks seem to have suspected and just as the early Indian and Muslim scholars were certain, Rambam was likewise certain that π is irrational.

Archeologists Immanuel Eisenberg and David Ben-Shlomo had just about wrapped up the excavations. Their finds were admirable.

This wasn't Eisenberg's first Hebron dig. Back in 1999, working on the northern edge of Tel Hebron, his finds could not be described as anything less than astonishing. They ranged from 4,500 hundred years ago, that being the early bronze age, to about 1,700 years ago, that being the Byzantine era.

On the western-most area excavated, he discovered two walls, one dated back to the days of Noah and the flood. Adjacent to this 4,500 year old find were stone stairs, in perfect condition, from the same era, most probably, leading to the 'gate of the city.' Next to the stairs is another wall, this one being 3,700 years old, that being the middle bronze era, that being the time of Abraham and Sarah.

On the eastern most side of the excavation 
are Byzantine wine cisterns.

Just to the east of them is a 'four-room' house, 2,700 years old, that being the First-Temple era, built during the days of King Hezekiah. During this age, the kingdom utilized Hebron as a place to store food for the army, then fighting a war with Assyrian King Sinharib. The grains were kept in clay jars. Near the bottom of the jar's handle was a small seal, identifying the jar and its contents as property of the Kingdom.

The seal itself looked something like a cross between a bird and a beetle, some with two wings, and others with four. Above the seal was inscribed the word, L'Melech, 'belonging to the King.' Beneath the seal was another word, identifying the area where the food jar was being stored.

During these excavations, Eisenberg and his team discovered five of these such seals, all marked with the words 'L'Melech, and underneath, in ancient Hebrew, the word 'Hebron.' Eisenberg, speaking to then defense minister Moshe Arens, at the site, exclaimed, "if anyone had any doubts as to whether this is the original, Biblical Hebron, those doubts have all been erased. We have proof that Jews have lived here since the days of Abraham."

Eisenberg and Ben Shlomo's excavations southern side of the Tel were no less impressive. They uncovered a 2,000 year old industrial area, complete with ponds and aqueducts for water flow. A house, or more likely, pottery factory, burned down during the wars with the Romans, containing remnants of jars was found. Inside the house, two amazing discoveries: a large iron key to the building's door, and also a jar containing olive pits, 2,000 years old. Additionally they found both olive oil and wine presses.

Parts of the south-eastern region of the Tel had been previously excavated by Philip Hammond, from the United States, in the middle 1960s. Hammond uncovered parts of a 3,700 year old wall, whose stones were so large he described them as Cycloptic.

Eisenberg and Ben-Shlomo continued to dig out this wall, revealing a large section of it. However, a most astounding revelation was determined, that being that the wall had served Hebron for over a thousand years. That is from the time of Abraham, probably until the destruction at the hands of Sinharib, 2,700 years ago.

In other words, when Abraham entered Hebron from the south, this he saw this wall. When Calev ben Yefuheh came into Hebron, being a member of the spies Moses sent to Israel from the desert, this is the wall he viewed. And when David began the Kingdom of Israel in Hebron, some 3,000 years ago, this wall surrounded the original 'City of David.'

The dig was just about completed. A bulldozer started pushing out dirt that had been piled up during the dig. As it finished its work, the archaeologists requested that it continue digging down, where the dirt had covered the earth. Just to make sure…

To their surprise and amazement, the bulldozer uncovered a large pit. Continued work led to another remarkable discovery. Two very large Mikvahs, that is ritual pools, in beautiful condition were found at that site. They were dated to the Second Temple period, that is, some 2,000 years old. They were astounded.

There was no doubt as to the authenticity of these artifacts or the time of their origin. And here again, solid proof of, not only a Jewish presence, but of a solid presence. Only such a population could allow for this type of industrial area and such large mikvahs.

And of course, the foremost site in Hebron is the huge monumental structure built by Herod atop the caves of Machpela, again, 2,000 years ago.

The Jewish population in Hebron, as most of the Jewish inhabitants of Judea, where expelled by the Romans following the destruction of the 2nd Temple and the defeat of the Jewish revolts. However, there are recorded accounts of Jews praying at Ma'arat HaMachpela in the middle of the 6th century. And in 614 it is written by the Muslim historian Ibn Huldan 'that the Jews in Hebron assisted the Persians to conquer the city, thereby ending the persecution at the hands of the Byzantines.' When exactly the Jews returned to Hebron is not entirely clear, but from this account it is clear that they had come back.

It seems that there were no Jews in Hebron was between 1100 until the middle 1200s. In 1100, following the Crusader conquest, Jews were expelled from the city. After the Mamluk conquest in 1260, Jews again returned to Hebron.

The Avraham Avinu Synagogue was built in 1540 by Jews who had been expelled from Spain in 1492. And so the community continued until the 1929 riots and expulsion. For the first time in almost 1000 years, Hebron was emptied of its age-old Jewish community.

Until 1967.

So there we have it: 3,700-, 3,000-, 2700-, 2,000-, 1,400-, 900-, 500- years of archeological evidence of a Jewish community in Hebron.

In other words, on June 8, 1967, that being the 29th day of Iyar in 5727, the Jewish people did not conquer and occupy a foreign city. Rather they returned home, home to Hebron, the roots of the Jewish people, the roots of humanity.

Many of these sites and structures may have been destroyed in recent years by the Waqf’s (Muslim Council) bulldozers during their construction of subterranean mosques under the Temple Mount. Fortunately, photographs still exist and were digitized by archivists so we can document what were probably parts of the Jewish Temple complex and what the Mufti denies.

USA Todayhad an interesting article: A dagger buried alongside King Tutankhamun was made with iron from a meteorite, according to research published in the journal Meteoritics & Planetary Science.

Using X-ray fluorescence, a team of researchers, led by Daniela Comelli of the Polytechnic University of Milan, analyzed the blade and found that it has a similar composition to metallic meteorites.

The dagger was one of two, discovered in 1925, beneath the wrappings surrounding King Tut’s body. The iron dagger, which had a gold sheath and handle, was found by King Tut’s right thigh. For years, archaeologists have debated whether or not the iron dagger was meteoric in origin, though the researchers note, previous analysis of the dagger provided controversial results.

According to the study, early iron works are rarely found in ancient Egypt, suggesting that the Egyptians found the material hard to work with and typically reserved it for ceremonial tools and items.

The researchers note that the discovery provides further insight into ancient Egyptian descriptions of iron some 100 years after King Tut’s death, where the mineral is described as “iron of the sky.”

“The introduction of the new composite term suggests that the ancient Egyptians, in the wake of other ancient people of the Mediterranean area, were aware that these rare chunks of iron fell from the sky already in the 13th C. BCE, anticipating Western culture by more than two millennia,” the researchers concluded.

'Several tornadoes have ravaged the Midwest and South in recent years. A month before the May 22, 2011, tornado in Joplin, which killed 161 people and destroyed 7,000 homes, hundreds died in a series of deadly tornadoes in the South. And a tornado in Moore, Oklahoma, in 2013 killed 24.

'The devastation raised awareness about the need for safety in homes that don't have basements. Safe room sales skyrocketed, aided in part by the availability of Federal Emergency Management Agency grant and rebate programs that help pay for them in some states.

'The pre-fabricated rooms feature thick steel walls and doors that can withstand winds up to 250 mph. They are windowless with no light fixtures or electricity. Most are small and built in a garage or closet. Safe rooms typically cost $3,000 to $7,000, depending on the size. A few are buried in the yard like shelters of years past.

'The Smiths weren't yet married when the tornado came through Joplin. Kayla was with her parents in a car that was spun off the road into a yard. Ricky took shelter in his apartment stairwell. When he emerged, the building was gone. All were relatively unscathed.  […]  Above article from ABC News

Winds caused by the storm reached 40 mph Saturday night but had dropped below 35 mph by Sunday morning, according to U.S. Air Force data reported to the hurricane center.

The Soldier Who Fired the Defense Minister

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I SAW HAPPENING WHEN YAALON UNLEASHED HIS LEFTIST IDEOLOGY AND HE WENT OVER THE DAM! HE WAS ALLOWED TO GO TOO FAR AND IN DOING SO CAUSED HIS OWN DOWNFALL. The very comments uttered by his subordinate were the mirror image of the very Policies of the IDF higher echelon. In 1996, after prime minister Yitzhak Rabin’s assassination, Shimon Peres was asked in an interview: who lost the elections? To which he answered “Us, the Israelis.” When asked who won, he replied: “The Jews.

The Jews defeated the Israelis.”

Peres was wrong. The “Jews” did not exactly win. And the “Israelis” did not lose at all. In the 20 years that have ensued, an ongoing, low-intensity cold war has been waged between the Jews and the Israelis.

On Rosh Hashana 2016, Alexander Levlovitz was murdered by an Arab, signaling the beginning of a new kind of intifada. Every few hours, on average, a lone terrorist would attempt to kill Jews with whatever weapon was at hand.

The goal of the terrorism of the first and second intifadas was to force the IDF to retreat from Judea, Samaria and Gaza. It was a “nationalist” struggle. In the new intifada, all the “nationalist” masks have been removed. The goal is simply to kill Jews. The statement these terrorists are making is one we heard 70 years ago: I will kill you no matter how you define yourself; Israeli, secular, Tel-Avivian or New Yorker – you are really just a Jew.

This created a serious problem for Peres’ “Israelis.” When confronted with the new anti-Judaism, they preferred to deny their Jewish identity; there is nothing unique about the Jews and everyone can be a Nazi.

IDF soldiers killed many of the attacking terrorists. This was a healthy, Jewish response. It was the spontaneous reaction of a nation that identifies the monster and has no intention of allowing it to reawaken.

It declares that there is indeed a unique, Jewish identity.


The bullet shot in Hebron by soldier Elor Azariah into a neutralized terrorist turned the cold war between the Jews and the Israelis into an overt war that is getting hotter all the time.

It obligated the “Israelis” to stand up and defend their right to blur their identity. The entire justice system, media and other power resources in the hands of the Old Israel – Ashkenazi, leftist, secular, hegemonic – activated an orchestrated campaign to delegitimize his act.

But a frightening surprise was waiting for Old Israel. Social media allowed the New Israel – Mizrahi, traditional, far-removed from power – to stand up for the soldier. The division was very clear: the Israeli minority will do all in its power to convict the soldier, while the Jewish majority supports him.

The war intensified. The many local protests for the soldier melded into a major rally in Tel Aviv’s Rabin Square, boycotted and scorned by the media and political establishment.

Old Israel fought back. At the Holocaust memorial ceremony on Remembrance Day, deputy chief of staff Maj.-Gen. Yair Golan hinted that Elor Azariah and his supporters are Israel’s fascists. The prime minister condemned the speech, But defense minister Moshe Ya’alon supported Golan unreservedly.

The judge’s suggested compromise during Azariah’s trial was rejected by the military prosecution. After all, this is not a private case: it is a war between Israelis and Jews. Elor has become a symbol and Old Israel has no intention of giving up.

And then the war escalated to a new, much more frightening phase.

A Haaretz article titled “The First Jewish Military Coup” seemed to implicitly call upon the IDF to impose the will of the Israeli minority upon the Jewish majority. The defense minister again praised the scandalous speech of Maj.-Gen. Yair Golan and even encouraged every soldier to learn from him and follow in his footsteps. It was a military coup in the making, with the defense minister as the Left’s point man.

When Ya’alon was ousted, journalist Yigal Sarna wrote that “the ouster is a civilian putsch against the army.” The radical Left, despairing of ever winning democratic elections, turned to the IDF to save its ideology.

Now it decries the “putsch” carried out by the citizens against the army.

Who will win this war? The Jews, or the Israelis? Just like the elections of 1996, the Jews will win on the tactical plane.

But again just like those elections, on the strategic plane the Israelis will win. For the Jews to really win, they need leadership that can create a completely new strategy, informed by its Jewish identity.

To create real change, the new defense minister must say: “The security strategy of the Jewish nation and the State of Israel is ‘Kill those who come to kill you – first.’ Any soldier who does not accept this principle should remove his uniform and release the IDF from the attitudes that are preventing it from doing its job.”

Obviously, that will not happen.

Netanyahu will never face off directly against Old Israel. The IDF will continue to clone its senior commanders according to the values of the radical Left. All of us will continue to be perceived as the new Nazis of the world, Israel’s legitimacy and diplomatic and security options will continue to contract – until the Jews realize that they must do more than win the elections: they must also lead the nation according to their values.

And what about the soldier, Elor Azariah? Has this entire episode brought us nothing more than a meaningless change of personnel in the defense ministry? Not exactly – nobody in the media will say this, but the undeniable fact is that immediately following the shooting in Hebron, the new intifada disappeared into thin air.

It is impossible to know how much time will pass until the monster rears its head once again. But one thing is clear: with the one moral bullet that Azariah shot into reality, he has – at least temporarily – neutralized the venom of the new anti-Judaism.

And that is a lot more than Netanyahu, Ya’alon, the IDF and its generals managed to do in an entire half-year of violent terrorism.

The Ramban and Eretz Israel

People occasionally ask, “Where is it written in the Torah that we have to build a State?” Apparently, they are not familiar with the words of the giant Torah authority, the Ramban, who repeatedly stated that we are commanded that the Land of Israel be in our hands, and not in the hands of any other nation:

“We were commanded to inherit this Land which Hashem, Blessed Be He, gave to our Forefathers, to Avraham, Yitzhak, and Yaacov, and not to abandon it to the hands of other nations, or abandon it to desolation. Hashem said to them, ‘To inherit the Land and dwell there, for to you I have given the Land to possess, and you shall inherit the Land that I swore to your Forefathers’ – behold, we are commanded with its conquest in every generation (Ramban, Supplement to Sefer HaMitzvot of the Rambam, Positive Commandment 4).

The Ramban continues:

“This is what our Sages call ‘Milchemet Mitzvah,’ an obligatory war. This Land is not to be left in the hands of the Seven Nations, or in the hands of any other nation, in any generation whatsoever…this is a positive commandment which applies at every time” (Ramban, ibid).

The Ramban concludes:

“And the proof that this is a Torah commandment is this – they were told in the matter of the Spies, ‘Go up and conquer the Land as Hashem has said to you. Don’t fear, and don’t be discouraged.’ And further it says, ‘And when Hashem sent you from Kadesh Barnea saying, Go up and possess the Land which I gave you, and you rebelled against

Hashem your G-d, and you did not believe in Me, and did not listen to this command’” (Ibid).

All of the early and later Torah authorities, the Rishonim and Achronim, decide the law in this fashion on the basis of the Ramban that the precept of conquering the Land applies in all generations, and all of them agree that it is a commandment of the Torah (Shuchan Oruch, Pitchei T’shuva , Even HaEzer, 75:6).

Sovereignty over a country means having an army, a government, a justice system, an economic system, etc. By commanding us to rule over the Land of Israel, the Torah commands us to establish a State. Rabbi Kook emphasized that whether sovereignty is brought about by a prime minister, a prophet, a judge, or a king, it is valid Jewish sovereignty when it comes on behalf of Clal Yisrael, the encompassing congregation of Israel. (Mishpat Kohen, 337).

Thus, the State of Israel is a commandment of the Torah. Rabbi Tzvi Yehuda Kook emphasized that, “The intrinsic value of the State is not dependent on the number of observant Jews here. Of course, our aspiration is that all of our people will embrace the Torah and the mitzvot. Nonetheless, the Statehood of Israel is holy, whatever religious level it contains.”

“There are religious Jews who express a type of criticism and say, ‘If the State of Israel were run according to our lifestyle and spirit, then we would accept it. Until then, we abstain from it.’ They talk as if the State does not belong to them. But the truth is that the State belongs to all of us.”

Rabbi Kook asserted that

anyone who refuses to recognize the State of Israel does not recognize Hashem’s rule over what takes place in the world. 

If the Master of the Universe decided to bring the Jewish People back to the Land of Israel via the vehicle of the State of Israel, who are we to complain or disagree?

Rabbi Kook said that we had to be patient, that Redemption came slowly in gradual stages, little by little (Jerusalem Talmud, Berachot 1:1), and that it would reach perfection with time.

“In the Talmud, our Sages explain that all of the material used in building the Temple became sanctified only after it was set into place. We build with the profane and sanctify afterward (Meilah 14A and B, see Rashi there). This was enacted because our Sages realized that during the construction, workers would sit in the shade of the building to rest from the sun, and thus improperly derive personal benefit from something which had been exclusively dedicated for the use of the Temple. The Beit HaMikdash was built in this fashion, and this is the way the Redemption of Israel develops, in stages, little by little. Just as the stones used in building the Temple were not sanctified at first, so, too, the building of Eretz Yisrael is accomplished by every segment of the Nation, by the righteous and by the less righteous. We build with the secular, even though this causes complications and problems, and little by little all of the various problems will vanish, and the sanctification of Hashem will appear in more and more light.”

As we say in Israel, “Savlenut,” Patience, my friends. Patience.

One very interesting site is WSO Steve Olson and his youtube channel.

Et tu Brute? (With Brute being the Sun) The sun is tilting in the sky, or our Earth facing satellites are about 40% off course. We prove this by photographing the sun and noting the lone sun spot, then compare this to the earth facing disc satellite view...the sun tilts. Steve says in one of the videos that there are Military Helicopters flying over his home, which is a good size farm in a deserted area of Wisconsin.  He jokes that "they" are spying on him. Steve Olson is an ernest fellow with a great amount of curiosity which is to our advantage.

In this video, is discussed how (earth) is being pulled 90 degrees to the side, and PROVES IT by showing the object that is doing the pulling.

Study Proves the Mind Does Not Die With the Body
Consciousness survives after physical organs stop functioning

What happens to us after we die remains largely unknown; however, a growing body of research suggests that awareness may continue beyond clinical death, a medical term that no longer carries a black and white definition.

Prior to the 1950s, "clinical death" meant vital organs, such as the lungs, heart and brain, had stopped working. However, due to technological advancements, humans can now be kept alive via mechanical ventilators, leading to a new definition called "brain dead." People declared brain dead and kept alive by a ventilator have blood circulation and the ability to fight off infections, as well as birth a child.

"The themes relating to the experience of death appear far broader than what has been understood so far, or what has been described as so called near-death experiences," said Dr. Jerry Nolan, Editor-in-Chief of the journal Resuscitation, which published a study examining "the broad range of mental experiences in relation to death."

Mental activity may persist beyond death

Sponsored by the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom, the study suggests that mental activity persists beyond death, but memories of the experience may disappear due to medical drugs or brain injury.

The study titled AWARE (Awareness during Resuscitation), interviewed 2,060 patients from 15 hospitals in the UK, US and Austria. Researchers say that 39 percent of the patients they interviewed who had survived cardiac arrest, "described a perception of awareness, but interestingly did not have any explicit recall of events."

"This suggests more people may have mental activity initially but then lose their memories after recovery, either due to the effects of brain injury or sedative drugs on memory recall," said lead study author Dr. Sam Parnia, Assistant Professor of Critical Care Medicine and Director of Resuscitation Research at The State University of New York at Stony Brook.

Of those who reported having a sense of awareness following death, 46 percent said that they experienced "a broad range of mental recollections" incompatible with near death experiences (NDE's), including "fearful and persecutory experiences."

Just 9 percent reported experiences that were compatible with NDE's, while 2 percent said they had awareness compatible with out-of-body experiences (OBEs) "with explicit recall of 'seeing' and 'hearing' events."

One individual reported consciousness and awareness three minutes after their heart had stopped

"This is significant, since it has often been assumed that experiences in relation to death are likely hallucinations or illusions, occurring either before the heart stops or after the heart has been successfully restarted, but not an experience corresponding with 'real' events when the heart isn't beating," said Dr. Parnia.

One case was validated and timed using auditory stimuli during cardiac arrest. Dr Parnia concluded: “This is significant, since it has often been assumed that experiences in relation to death are likely hallucinations or illusions, occurring either before the heart stops or after the heart has been successfully restarted, but not an experience corresponding with ‘real’ events when the heart isn’t beating. In this case, consciousness and awareness appeared to occur during a three-minute period when there was no heartbeat. This is paradoxical, since the brain typically ceases functioning within 20-30 seconds of the heart stopping and doesn’t resume again until the heart has been restarted. Furthermore, the detailed recollections of visual awareness in this case were consistent with verified events.

"Thus, while it was not possible to absolutely prove the reality or meaning of patients' experiences and claims of awareness, (due to the very low incidence (2 per cent) of explicit recall of visual awareness or so called OBE's), it was impossible to disclaim them either and more work is needed in this area. Clearly, the recalled experience surrounding death now merits further genuine investigation without prejudice," she added.

Scientists hope the results of the study will spur further research into this life or death matter.

Meet Mozart

Mozart, Zoya, Olivia, Max, Charlie Brown, Diego, Raptor, Skittles and Reese—will be working in Brooklyn this summer in Prospect Park.

Olivia, a pushy young blonde; Diego, a good-natured loner; and six others were deemed perfect for the task: fit, eager and hungry for the job. Zoya and crew will leave their home in Rhinebeck, New York, and take up residency in Prospect Park, working on fenced-off sections (**most damaged by a tornado and hurricanes Irene and Katrina). Larry and Ann Cihanek, the goats’ owners and owners of *Green Goats, will check on the herd twice a week. Ann told The Guardian that goats love weeds such as poison ivy and will eat those plants first.

“They’re a bit like children, ... They will eat their favorite foods first, and one of their top foods is poison ivy. They love it.”

A single goat can eat up to 25 pounds in one day.

The Prospect Park project isn’t unusual for the Cihaneks and their goats. Green Goats, which houses 170 goats, has been sending goat herds out on assignment for nine years. The four-legged weed-eaters have worked with the National Park Service, cemeteries, colleges and more, according to Green Goats’ website.

“Goats have been used to control undesirable vegetation throughout history,” states the website. “They’ve eaten grass, and cleared brush on slopes, woodlots and hedge rows long before brush cutters and herbicides were invented.”
